Agnosticism - Seaking Closure

A bit of backstory: I grew up Catholic, and I went to Catholic school from kindergarten to eighth grade. I grew up with a lot of ignorant and close-minded people; one girl even yelled at me in the middle of class for believing in evolution, saying I was "abandoning my faith in God." Since then, I've switched to an art school, and it's been the best decision I've ever made, with a lot more diversity in my life now. Last year, I went to confirmation classes and realized I didn't believe anything to do with Catholicism, so I left the church altogether.

What I don't know is whether I believe in God or not. I think I believe in SOMETHING, but I'm not too sure about that. To me, it seems impossible that God exists and impossible that he doesn't exist. The idea of God seems entirely illogical and fictional, however I can't comprehend the idea that we came from NOTHING, and that we turn into NOTHING, when we die. Perhaps this is simply because humans cannot comprehend the idea of "nothing," since people tend to think of black, white, static, white noise, etc., when we think of "nothing," yet these are all things.

Any advice?

Support LGBT Rights in Reddit's Model Parliament!

Hello! I’m posting today to ask for just a quick moment of your time (and apologize for intruding on your subreddit, kind of).

Reddit’s Model House of Commons (a parliament simulation) has just begun voting in it’s 5th General Election and it’s open to anyone interested in voting (which is easy, fairly anonymous, and fast).

I’m asking for your vote for the Green Party, a massive supporter of LGBT rights in parliament. We’ve passed countless pieces of legislation on every aspect of LGBT rights and have the largest (to my immense enjoyment) LGBT party population in parliament (around 45%-50%). LGBT rights and social justice are always two of our largest pillars, on top of environmentalism (of course, which we’re huge on), and economics.

I hope you take a brief moment of your time to help our subreddit continue to function, since we run off of the votes of the public. While it is just a simulation, this of course is very real and very enjoyable for all of us, and your time is a huge help. Every vote matters!

Please come and vote GREEN here: https://www.reddit.com/r/MHOC/comments/46xtgq/general_election_v_megathread/

Here’s also a full link to our manifesto if you’re interested: https://issuu.com/df44/docs/mhoc_greens_gev_manifesto_final

If you want to join our simulation and party, or have any questions, you can also PM me for help :)

Thank you so much for your time!

I'm an atheist, but I pretend to pray in church. Is this wrong?

I live in England, if that helps. And my school is an independent co-ed senior with reasonably high GCSE and A-level results. It's not a religious school by most people's standards. We don't pray before lessons or bring up Jesus a lot. But we do go to the nearby church on Thursday mornings to hold Assembly. There, we sing a hymn, have a prayer, mutter 'amen' and give out certificates. I go along with it - I sing the hymns, because I like singing and often religious music is quite beautiful, but that's another matter - but what worries me is how mean I feel when I bow my head and clasp my hands. Now, there are a lot of Muslims in our school. They go along with it too. They are praying to their own God. But I have no God to pray to, and I don't want to. It just makes me feel so horrible, like I'm a fake. Should I not sing or pray and risk being told off, or should I keep going as I have been doing?
