Hello! Sorry if the title was a bit vague, I really couldn't figure out an adequate way to sum up my question. Basically, I am trying to figure out if this is a good idea or not.
I know I want to make art videos(digital paintings or 3D sculpts with commentary on the characters/scenes being created) and I know I want to make game devlogs(more focused on the content of the game than the coding, goal here being to attract players not fellow devs). I am also an author and would like to make video updates on how writing is going and what I'm excited about in the next book, that sort of thing.
I don't want to make a writing advice channel, I know that, I'm just really not interested in being an educator.
My problem is that my art and gamedev skills are not currently at a point where I feel confident making either of the first two types of videos.
I was thinking, maybe I could do more vlog style content for now. Weekly videos that follow me balancing school, learning art, learning gamedev, and writing. Then when I skill up I could still do vlogs, but instead of every week being a vlog, maybe 1 video a month is a devlog and 1 video is art focused and the other 2 are vlogs. The art content would likely be related to the game I'm making, along the lines of concept art and game assets that I'm making for the game.
My idea here is that rather than having a specific niche, it's more of an "I am the niche" channel. My worry is that YouTube will have a hard time figuring out who to push my videos to if the people who subscribed for my vlogs aren't interested in the devlogs when I start putting them out, and the people who discover me through my devlogs turn out to not be interested in my vlogs.
I guess I could just do my lifestyle vlogs for now and then when I'm ready to do devlogs and art vlogs see how my audience reacts to them, and perhaps if the response isn't great than consider starting a second channel purely for the game content. I just am worried that I wouldn't be able to keep up with school, writing, gamedev, art, and 2 channels at the same time.
What do you think?
So I've been doing youtube for 11 years now and I absolutely love doing what I do but I feel like something isn't working. I'm struggling to really get my channel noticed. I've made tons of upgrades and I've even adjusted my editing.
I know one thing I really struggle with is my consistency but working a full time day shift job makes working on releasing videos a little difficult. Right now I'm trying to get at least a video or two out a week.
Even after planning out everything and doing all I can to promote my videos, my channel doesn't really see that much change. So what do I need to do to see that change? I'll take any suggestions and advice.
If you need to see my channel it's YaBoyyyTJ
Hi All,
Just trying to find a YouTube channel I used to watch. I haven't seen them come up with any more videos and searched, I couldn't find them.
I'll try to describe there content. Would be great if someone knows the channel.
An individual had a channel was about his store in Canada. Used to buy and sell old stuff. I remember him going to peoples houses and buy their items. Sometimes he would gather stuff in his shop to sell at auctions. Last time I saw the video. They were getting work done to the shop to expand it on the right. Additionally, had painting done to the front. I believe once in a great while he would sing some Elvis songs. I remember he drove an old car and he had some old cars that he was restoring/getting sent out to restore. I remember the opening of earlier videos was a guy entering the store/house saying Honey, I am home. I am not sure why that wasn't in the later ones.
That is about all I can remember. Was a great channel.
Thanks for any help on this.
I am starting a new channel where i am talking about things with my own voice and microphone (i am a musician so i am doing this as a side hustle) my doubt is:
Whats the most "organic" or efficient way to make the video, first i make the script and record my voice and then i build the video with images and video sources in premiere over the recording voice.
Or first i make the video with the media sources in premiere and then i made the script and record my voice.
I dont have a camera so in the beginning i am making it this way
I've been away for YouTube for a while and trying to get back into it. I run a sustainability educational channel. My plan going forward is to try and make the videos a bit more entertaining, instead of purely educational. I'd love your feedback on the video below. I have a version of this video I posted a couple of years back, but updated it to be more entertaining. The types of questions I'm looking for feedback on are, what do you think of the video? Do you find it to be entertaining? Is it too silly/are there too many jokes? Does the information still seem like its coming from someone who is knowledgeable/a trustworthy source of information even though the video is a bit silly? And of course, general feedback on any other parts. Thank you!!

Two points about Shorts:
I run a travel channel and share highlights from different locations. Content quality is pretty consistent, so I’m stumped. Can anyone enlighten me?
Hi! I have a small literature channel. Recently, people have been contacting me a lot via Instagram asking me to revise their manuscripts. I don’t want to ignore their dm’s but it’s starting to be a little too much and I can’t reply to them all. I don’t have the time to revise other people’s books, neither am I the right the right person for that, that’s the job of an editor.
I’ve thought of writing in my instagram bio that I don’t revise manuscripts, that they should contact a professional editor. Will that come off as being rude?
Thanks.
The title says it. I've been wanting to make a gaming channel since I was 6, and I finally did! It's been up a bit, and I'm thinkin. How do I get more subscribers? Should I get a microphone? Make thumbnails? Actually edit things? If so, what should I get? I'm 15 and still live with my parents, and have a job at the local grocery store. I don't make much, but it's not much to worry about. Is there any NECESSARY tools? I have OBS, a decent keyboard and mouse for my half decent PC, a PS5, and that's about it. Do I need any good gear or anything? Is it possible for me to promote my channel by paying?
If you want to check it out, it's under CryyoYT.
I am looking for some content ideas for my channel, and I like Casey, though there are few people around like him on there for ideas. In general, though, I am seeing if anyone here gets ideas off of youtube vs just on the platform. If so what have you found good?
I have found some creative editing within music videos, though new content seems more challenging
Is there a way to only show thumnails videos and not the podcast videos on the YouTube HP of my channel. My youtube videos are actual videos but the podcast version is simply subtitles and a static image as those are designated as streaming but only audio. If people come to my YT homepage, I only want produced videos to show
I've been doing a couple of live videos, and the chat is not showing up for the replay. I have it enabled, and it just doesn't run when you replay the video. I've looked at Youtube support and none of my content matches the factors that youtube mentioned that would cause this problem.
Anyone else have this issue, or, even better know a solution?
I've come across videos on YouTube (mainly tech reviews) that have got the important specifications completely wrong.
Also other videos that are irrelevant because (smart home) features are no longer available.
I have deleted some of mine because of features have been removed by Google and Alexa.
Does anyone else do this even though they are still getting views?
Hello!
I want to begin a new channel focused in Music history, Album recommendations (more than reviews), International Music (more than US/UK music) and commenting releases. Those are basically my 4 pillars and "series": about artists, about albums, about "horizonts" and about releases.
I want to do it in Spanish and English, there aren't much content creators in my country with this type of content, they talk about local artists or gossip about popstars, there is where i found my spot on the platform.
I have some questions:
Is there any kind of shadowban for using copyrighted music? I think it's necessary for examples. Or will i get all my videos down just for it? (I'm not trying to monetize them at least for now)
Should i do two channels, one for Spanish and one for English? I can do the branding for both but i wanna know if it's more effective just to use the "Add language" in the Studio. I personally think i connect better when you see it's someone talking and not a lipsync, usually the dubs makes me cringe (that's what i think could be better to do a recording/edit on each language)
I just found a channel that surprised me in the bad way, has 800+ videos, not a bad branding, publishes more than once a week, he's informed and reviews music from all genres (thing that i'm interested in) and the format is not that different from what i'm thinking...
...the channel has 1.58K subs. This kinda demotivated me, did i pick a wrong idea/niche?
What could this channel have been doing wrong?
If you have any answers i'll be grateful, thanks!
Hey everyone I have a small YT channel and I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on SEO Importance and where to spend the initial money I make on my channel and reinvest.
As of now I have done everything myself from start to finish. I make a few $100 from my channel each month and I want to reinvest this money into an aspect of the channel.
How important would SEO optimisation be for ~$15 per video and also Thumbnail design for about the same price.
Would these be the most optimal areas to initially spend funds as all of my equipment is already accounted for?
Any opinions on what has worked for you would be greatly appreciated
Hey so there was a channel I used to watch. I think her name was Jessica but I don’t remember her channel name. She had a monotone voice and a dark style. She did commentary. She lived in a bunch of different places and speaks Italian as well as English. Please help me remember her channel name:give me an update on her.
I make music, I upload original music to a channel. I gad 48 subs a week ago. I spent a little money on promoting a video for the first time ever. It got a 1000 views through ads, 16 likes only but my subs reached 231 in a span of few hours. I didn’t see it grow gradually. It just became 231 suddenly. It makes no sense. I have no comments no engagement whatsoever to attribute to this.
How do I get rid of the botted subs I don’t want any fake metric like this on my channel I want organic and true numbers
As the title says.
Obviously there's the usual tips: Set up the channel right, thumbnails, Titles, SEO, script/editing etc.
But what are some other oft overlooked tips to start a channel off on the right foot?
One I've heard is: Post your first 5 videos all at the same time, and then go into a schedule you can maintain after.
The reasoning behind this is that, if someone likes your first video, they'll go to your page to see your other videos, but if you don't have any, they are unlikely to subscribe. However if they go to your page and see 4 other videos, check those out, they are far far more likely to subscribe.
Do you agree with this one? And what other tips can you think of?
I just saw this posted by VidIQ, how accurate is this "no algorithm" claim. I'm sure algorithm still play a role in pushing out the video to your subscribers? Please enlighten, just running these tests for my clients channels and quite not sure if I should even consider this?
https://x.com/vidiq/status/1854885720734736510?s=46
(The reason I'm asking is to question the 'authority' of VidiQ to make these claims, as I know VIDIq seems to be so helpful plug-in for all the tags, and Al and hashtags, but l've seen videos with thousands of views without hashtags, or tags just the algorithm pushing it out, which by VidIQ plugin standards, those videos would have likely "fail" and did not)
Bottomline, is VidiQ trustworthy source of what we should and should not follow on YouTube?
I know it seems like a bit of a silly question, but I'll explain. I started a shorts channel recently and it's been going really well. I'm about to hit 2k subscribers and am right over 50k views. The conversion has been phenomenal. So the channel is based around toys, and the videos are sort of like skits with voices. I've seen other people do these before and have had really impressive growth so I figured I'd give it a go. These other channels give away some of their products and I thought that'd be a fun thing to include. You'd have a website (usually built with Shopify) and in the videos you'd include a promo code where people could use it and get the toy (or whatever the product is) for free on your site. The promo code would be limited to 10 people or so, so you don't end up losing thousands of dollars on all the products you're sending out. My question is, regardless of whether or not you're actually sending out your product to subscribers, you're going to be getting a lot of "hate" comments. Even with a website up and giving out free discount codes every once in awhile, a lot of people don't understand this (primarily due to them being a younger audience), or the promo code runs out. Either way, a majority of the comments are along the lines of: CAPPPPP, this is a scam, SCAM ALERT, and you get the idea. Is it worth keeping comments on, does it help with engagement? All press is good press sort of deal? Or will it ultimately negatively affect other viewers that see the shorts?
Hey everyone, I'm having an issue with my recently created YouTube channel. I can access and manage it through the YouTube app on my phone without any problems. However, when I try to log in on my computer browser, I get an error message saying, "Something went wrong," and I can’t switch to my channel.
I've tried clearing the cache, using different browsers, and even switching devices, but nothing works. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice or solutions would be greatly appreciated!
I'm a realtor with YT channel that’s mostly focused on affordable home tours and community/property spotlights, which tend to be our best-performing videos. We also do talking-head local RE/finance updates. We do two long-form videos/month. (channel in my profile)
I’m thinking about branching out into luxury home tours, but I’m not sure if it’s too far off from what my audience expects. It seems much larger target audience, but on the other hand, I'm worried it would hurt the channel. For a gaming channel, I'd think it'd be similar to their primary niche being FIFA and then adding NBA 2k videos.
Has anyone done something similar? Did it help you grow or did it hurt the other videos?
Anyone notice how recently, some YouTube shorts have a banner, that's almost half way up the page, saying 'search for'....So annoying. It's like the bottom half of the screen for many YouTube shorts not is taken up by various banners and text. It's like on a cable new channel when the banners at the bottom take up too much room.

Video 2 - 2793 - 18 Oct.
It looks to me that YouTube is not pushing at all the content to some potential new audience is just applying the same distribution formula no matter what is the video about. (these videos are quite different)
I had a horror channel a few years ago where when I uploaded my videos, they automatically appeared on my homepage. However. That’s not the case with my new channel, and I’m not doing anything different.
Is there a fix to this? I’ve cleared my cache, history, and all videos are set to public. Even my older videos from years ago are not on my homepage. What gives?
Hey all. I’m a mobile mechanic. And lately, I’ve been coming across some funny and also interesting situations with cars and trucks that I get called out to look at. I’m a fan of another mobile mechanics videos on YouTube and he has a ton of subscribers . It seems YouTube has helped him a lot.
It always makes me wonder if I should just give it a shot. But I also feel stupid talking to a camera when I feel nobody is gonna even watch.
Hi everyone. I am thinking of creating a new YouTube channel that will be focused on creating videos about ancient history, classics, literature, philosophy, and religion/mythology. I have come up with the name “Cosmic Odyssey” for this new channel. However, I recently discovered that there is an old 1988 DC Comics mini-series called Cosmic Odyssey (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmic_Odyssey_(comics)).
I was therefore wondering is it wrong for me to call my new channel by that name as that name is already a registered trademark? Should I come up with a new name for the channel (this would be annoying as I love that name)? Thanks for any advice.
Hi... I have a brand account and a channel with more than 500 videos. (1000 and change.) I am trying to get an export of the data for a single playlist of videos (about 590 videos). I need at a minimum title, description, video ID, and date uploaded (if possible). I don't need any of the analytics; I don't need the files themselves.
I cannot, for the life of me, find a direct way to do this. IS there a way?
Settings you tube studio not in the You tube studio app .. but login on Google Chrome and do the settings right ..
I didn't know this but it's helping to find more people who like my content. In 1 night got 80 subscribers..
Look it up there alot of yt videos about this and what you should do .
Good luck.
Hi guys I'm thinking of starting a YouTube channel with cricket related talk/videos and showing my village club side.
Also will do match day vlogs and reviews of the games that have gone ahead.
Is this something that people would be interested in seeing?
I'm new to editing and recording so a lot will be learn as you go but wanted to know if there's a space for this content out there?
Hi, I am a creator who has been doing several types of videos in the past, (podcasts, interviews, straight YouTube vids) but I recently started vlogging too. My old videos didn’t do that well (too niched?) but my vlogs have gotten huge traction.
I want to continue doing the thing that’s bringing the views/subscribers, but should I get rid of the old stuff? Asking for me 😊
