Mid mission I find myself wondering who has the mind shield as I cant remember who I equipped it on. Is there a way to know that?
I like in Chaos Gate Daemonhunters that when you encounter new enemies, you actually get a turn. It makes playing XCOM2 comparatively very tedious, as you're never allowed to actually use your movement because if you get even a little separated from the rest of your squad (at least mid-late game) you'll instantly lose at least 1 soldier because you've discovered an enemy squad that get 2 full moves + attack on you. Some timed missions are actually borderline/literally impossible due to this, as you'll have a time gated task that you have to move a lot, but in moving a lot, you're guaranteed to die.
I wouldn't even mind if the enemies just didn't get to move first, but you can literally keep your whole squad together and 1 guy will be slightly to one side, discover an enemy pod and they'll get practically 2 turns on you for free.
I've had my late game units 100->0 because some unit has brushed the discover radius of a pod, that full pod has completely moved on top of my unit & then they just full blast him and insta kill him with 0 chance of doing anything about it.
Im not even having fun anymore but the other difficulties are too easy so idk what to do. Im only sometimes able to get to magnetic weapons and the first blacksite but after that i usualy lose. Any advice?
I feel like I'm falling behind and not making progress.
I just entered a mission to stop supply raiding and there are 21 enemies. The project keeps moving forward. I only have 5 contacts so far. Engineers are hard to come by.
I have XCOM 2 with War of the Choosen and a number of other DLC:s
I've shared XCOM 2 with my family. If I launch on my account, 2K Launcher shows and lets me choose what to launch, XCOM 2 or War of the Choosen.
When my son want to play 2K Launcher Autostarts XCOM 2 without letting him choose at all.
This is on the same computer and it uses the same installation.
Anyone got any ideas?
Hello all!
I am currently in trouble due to the size of the monitor, and I would like to change the font size of some specific parts.
The question is if it can be configured in some way.
I've tried going into the UI files and adding some lines, but it doesn't seem to work.
Thank you.
Decided to go in to the INI files and mess around with the weapons each class uses, gave a ranger a pistol for instance. Found it odd though because she still had the slash ability so I was like “Oh! She can still melee” nope, instead, she runs up to the enemy and point blank shoots them in the face. Like barrel to nose. This game is the gift that keeps on giving 💜
Does anyone know what to change specifically in the INI files to max out the chance to bleed out instead of dying outright? I’ve tried looking it up but only get results for the LWotC and LW2, I’m only on the standard WotC so no mods. Anyone know which files/code I’m looking for?
Set a challenge for myself -- could I beat the game with only an endgame Templar on the battlefield. Turns out the answer is yes, but I did have to save scum at points.
By endgame I mean Colonel level to start but no special gear. I used I'm The Commander mod to make sure I had access to Bladestorm, Fortress, and Shadowstep.
Early game was mostly a breeze. I couldn't figure out how to get down to a single soldier in Gatecrasher so the 3 rookies hid in the corner. I quickly learned that it was better to be injured than tired, so I was sure to always take a little damage. I focused on getting GTS for the extra focus and Infirmary for the healing boost. Getting a mindshield was an absolute must so prioritized biotech and sectoid research.
Once I got the Resistance Ring, I used my 3 squaddies (rest of barracks was empty) to do missions to unlock various rewards. Occasionally they would hit an ambush, in which case they were allowed to run or hunker but nothing else. Usually they took a few injuries but nobody died. No save scum necessary here. I used covert op rewards to gradually level one of them to major so I could unlock Chosen bases.
The worst missions were Protect the Device and the Retaliation where Resistance dudes would help you. It was really hard to save 6 guys when each pod took multiple rounds. Psionic Transmitters were also tricky just because usually blowing up a relay meant taking no other action. Most of the rest weren't too hard. Council Missions surprisingly never gave me any trouble. Supply Raids were maybe the easiest. It helped that I didn't have much to buy.
Beating the Chosen was a pain. I had to kill them five or six times and then focus on the sarcophagus while my Ghost used bladestorm on the reinforcements. Warlock was easiest with vulnerability to templar and no bad strengths. (All Seeing. Low Profile) Assassin was tough with no overwatch, neutering my bladestorm strat. At least I cous usually Rend her and then be immune to her counterattack. The priests she summoned served as HP batteries for me with Void Conduit. The Hunter was the worst. With melee immunity and regeneration, it was a race between my autopistol's 3-6 damage and his regeneration. And I had to kill him 7 times in total just in the final chamber. At least he had brittle, which I could usually exploit with my high mobility.
Story missions weren't too bad. No time limit helped. Skilljacking a codex was dicey since I couldn't bring the mindshield. Fortunately it went for the Ghost with Mind Control and I was able to finish it off. Everything else was fairly easy.
Once that was done I did grinding on covert ops to get to max dodge and CRAZY high movility. I also made sure to get all relevant breakthroughs (swords, autopistols, beam weapons) and Resistance Orders (Feedback took a while.)
Network Tower my strategy was to just rush the objective. I was immune to the first two attacks. I took some hits but that's what the Hypervitality Chamber is for.
Final mission I did the first half with no Ghost. My strat was hit and run if there were a lot of guys, softening them up with Rend and arc waves until they were weak enough for most of them to go down to an Ionic Storm. Pods of 4 I could generally tank with Parry. Stun Lancers fueled up my HP with Void Conduit.
Final chamber was a pain and I had to reload several turns. The hard part was the Commander kept dying. (He could only run. Hunker isn't available to him.) I wound up trying to leave the Templar out of cover to bait attacks. Commander Avatar had to stay close but not too close or he would bait an AOE.
First Avatar took 2.5 turns to kill. His corpse became a ghost, who then bladestormed the 2nd Avatar. I had to reload this turn because the Avatar mind controlled the Ghost. 2nd time around it wasted its MC on the Mindshielded Templar. I did a rend, then repositioned to where the Avatar landed with Templar and the Ghost. The Commander then moved near us and got killed by a Chrysalid on alien turn.
Reload. Same basic turn but this time Commander went down to overwatch fire. Reload. Threaded the needle the 3rd time with Bladestorm taking out Chrysalids before they can gank the Commander. 2nd Avatar hit Templar and Ghost with Null Lance. 3rd Avatar spawned in. Templar finished 2nd Avatar with Rend. Ghost on 3 HP moved to 3rd Avatar pod and unleashes Ionic Storm. Avatar takes 20 damage, teleports near Templar. Templar uses free move to position near Avatar and out of cover. Commander stays put, too many overwatches.
Avatar 3 regenerates 5 hp, tries to move. 8 damage gets through armor. Tries to MC the Templar, Mindshield blocks. Lots of baddies shoot at Templar. Some Reflected. Some missed. Some dodged. A codex teleports to Commander and misses a flanked shot. My turn again. 3rd Avatar down to 7 HP and would die to rend but it's more fun to kill him and a bunch of vipers with Ionic Storm.
The game is won! 640 kills, 640 faction kills. I definitely felt like a super hero, doing it with just one guy. I do feel like the Ghost should benefit from Mindshield and especially Fortress. Oh, and for whatever reason Feedback didn't work even when I got psi-bombed. Glitch? Mindshield? Who can say? Anyway it was a good time and a decent challenge to figure out all the mission types.
I've seen people completely stealth the alien facilities with just a reaper and I've done it myself once. My question is, can you do this with every alien facility mission? Is there always going to be a wall you can blow up and evac through right next to the X4 plant spot? I dont want to send in just the reaper on ironman and then find out I'm screwed.
Not sure if its a known core game issue or maybe a known mod issue, but the game will force me to reload my pistols (but not for every soldier) It is especially annoying because i'll have two reload icons and its not immediately clear which one is for the sniper vs the pistol.
i just went out on a mission with 2 sharpshooters. one had unlimited pistol ammo the other needed reloading, and i cannot identify the difference between the two that causes it. It seems to happen with the templar as well.
the only mods i have that do anything with ammo are Colored Ammo Bar and faceoff Ammo fix.
does this happen to anyone else and if yes, is the cause known? i am running other QOL mods but nothing that should be causing this on purpose.
thank you.
This sign must say "speed limit" if im thinking correctly, First I thought that I could use this as a starting point to translate other signs and such, but why is there 2 different symbols for "E". What alien madness is that.
Does anyone know if there are options/files to edit for tweaking units? My playthrough is generating maps with tons of enemies that have the Chosen's "Revenge" ability, but as a Ruler reaction.
Is this intended?
Playing XCom2 on iOS iPads. Troubleshooting syncing games. I have saved games on one not showing up on another.
But does improving Aim improve your chances of hitting with melee weapons? This is the first run I’ve had with my Rangers and Templar missing almost every bladestorm attack, and a disturbing number of normal ones. Of course the Katana hits but I generally run 2 Rangers and often a Templar and it’s been embarrassing how much they have gone off the rails.
Hello all! I just picked up the game and am loving it so far!
I tried looking it up online, but I can’t seem to get a clear answer:
When I’m ready to ambush a pod, I usually put everyone into good positions, overwatch, and then pop it off with an AoE.
However, I forgot to put a few of my guys in overwatch… and it made me question everything I know.
When you are revealed in the above scenario, it seems…
However, when I DO NOT overwatch, it seems step 4 let’s me use all my unspent actions. This is vastly superior because…
Overwatch has a hit penalty. The enemies may be closer after their movement. Basic attacks < abilities. Some hero’s (like skirmisher can attack twice and templars best attack is from range).
As a result - I’m wondering if initiating an ambush from overwatch is the way to go. I’m totally confused.
I've played a lot of xcom, but it been awhile and for some reason the controls feel different. I used to navigate the menus with my d-pad and now it does nothing. What happened?
So im choosing to restart just prior to getting plasma weaponry, the doom counter is 1 pip from full and finally at a point where i feel like im reasonably strong on the tactical grid. The problem is i think of lossed 12 or so dudes some of them my highest ranks at any given time and i hate and mean HATE setbacks of any kind to my power scaling so at this point im pretty sure i can get to this spot with far less losses with much higher ranked soldiers and a better tech priority.
And i also finally figured out why this game is rage inducing as somone still learning and its the sheer volume of "HAH GOTCHA now you lost a dude"
Its things like the lack of unit cards so you cant see an enemies aim value, any passive or active abilities they may or may not have, or how far they can move so you cant move your own people to locations for maximum offensive value while skirting danger with pinpoint accuracy.
Shit like mind meld on priest telling you if he dies who hes buffing also dies, only for him to go into stasis so it doesnt count. The game gives you a this is how you deal with this but snickers jokes on you not really.
Or the faceless that enforce a strict dont end a soldiers turn within blue movement of a civilian just in case one is mimic and blaps you.
My personal favorite to die to, alien missed but destroyed a nearby wall with the stray rifle fire making another pod visible.
Im probably not far off beating this game on its hardest setting but god damn it hasnt been satisfying, it feels like you dont outplay bad dice so much so much as you last long enough to have the ranks and tech to make bad dice not matter.
It only took 146 hours on the easiest difficulty, but I FINALLY beat the game 😭😭
My next goal is to try and beat it without reloading every time something goes wrong 😂😂
I have this strong distaste for covert actions. Sending out soldiers for free xp and chance to be injured? It's just plain boring, I want all soldiers to upgrade through tactical missions. But I feel like I'm at a huge disadvantage if I don't utilize it. What type of game do you guys think I should play? LWOTC maybe? I don't want to play vanilla since all good mods are on WOTC.
Maybe I should just play regular modded WOTC? But it feels a bit too short for my taste? Is there any good mod that extends the game a little longer but not as long as LWOTC?
