National Watermelon day was August 3rd, did you celebrate?
Hi all,
Both of us mods use third-party apps and third-party tools to keep this sub afloat amid greater and greater amounts of bots posting to this sub. These tools will unfortunately be going away when Reddit starts charging for the API at the end of the month, and we won't have a great way to mod this sub anymore. We both love this little novelty sub and the awareness of wolves it has raised over the years, but new reddit provides lackluster mod tools at best.
That said, we think the best way forward is to put it into read-only mode, to preserve the content it has, and to preserve it for future redditors and internet archives. Should read-only settings be removed, or for some other reason (I've never had the displeasure of making a sub read-only), this sub will be going dark in accordance with the rest of the blackout over at r/ModCoord. It's been a real pleasure, everyone. From the moment it started with the original image, to this past week when I got to chat a bit with this community. Thank you for everything. I'm sure I'll see some of you on new platforms!
/u/GRAIN_DIV_20, I also just wanted to take a moment to say it's been an honor to work with you. Thank you for helping keep this community going for so many years!
All the best,
/u/Wahots, mod of WWW
