Who do you think is the most popular/influential/successful alumni from WLU? Planning to apply ED1 there and I aspire to grow big in Finance. I was wondering if there have been people who have made it big from here. I know that we have guaranteed spots in Wall Street but would love to know even more.
Thanks!
I'm an international student from South Asia. SAT 1520. EFC = 16k.
I'm considering applying to WLU for CS but have a few questions:
Hi! I'm a high school senior and was wondering what stats got you in.
So, our daughter is a freshman. Just got her moved in last weekend and reeling from that. We live 6 hours away and want to make it for parent/family weekend. The only problem is, everything in Lexington is already booked, and I do mean everything. I’ve checked multiple hotels search sites, VRBO, and AirBnB. Seems like my options in Lexington are bedbugs or $2500 per night at this point, so I’ve decided to expand my search to nearby towns but know nothing about any of these places. Is there a nice town within, say, a 30 minute drive in any direction that would have decent hotels to choose from? Thanks in advance for any guidance!
I want to know if there is any mosque (Masjid) on the campus or outside it for prayers, especially Friday prayer.
Hey everyone. So I’m moving from PA to attend W&L. I’m coming from a rural small town but closer to several big cities where I live than Lexington is to anything from what I understand. Should I try to bring a car my freshman year - or just wait til I’m an older college student? From what I understand, there’s not really any public transportation and nothing close by. But also, I just got my license not too long ago and I’m not a super experienced driver so I don’t want to be taking unnecessary risk in an area I’m unfamiliar with either. Even though I’m from a rural area, I always had plenty of transportation options to go where I wanted to go. I’m probably gonna be too busy my first semester to really want to go anywhere away from campus so I guess I’m more worried about having access to things off campus should I need them. Just curious on everyone’s thoughts. Thanks!
I’m looking at applying to wlu but my family is high income so I expect to receive no need based aid just about anywhere I apply. Is the Johnson scholarship need blind and only merit based? If there are finalist will they consider income? Thank you all!!!
Hi, I was wondering what the profile of an average Johnson Scholar looks like, specifically the ECs, achievements and community outreach part.
I'm thinking of ED1 to W&L as it is my top choice and I like how I can get both Liberal Arts and Engineering at the same place. Also, I've had few seniors from my high school get into W&L.
I have all A* in A level
1530 in SAT (740,790)
Extracurriculars: House Captain (6th grade to 10th grade), Scout Troop Leader(9-10), Club President(12), Some community service,
working on a paper (Detecting microplastic using U-NET Machine Learning Architecture)
National Chem Olympiad gold, national informatic olympiad top 10 all country
Rank: 1/99
Some regional and national hackathon wins
merit scholar
So, these are my stats. Should I even bother applying with these? I heard the Johnson is too competitive.
Hi wlu Reddit! What is the Business Administration degree at Washington and Lee like?
Are professors engaging and approachable or are they harsh and distant? I really want to know if it is challenging to succeed in the major at wlu (3.7 or higher) and if the school supports students to reach their highest potentiality.
On the website it looks the requirements are fairly simple and there seems to be no calculus requirement which is extremely rare for most undergrad business programs. Am I correct on this?
That being said, I suck at calc but I can do other maths pretty well. Would you say the major is math heavy or is it not?
Thanks for the help y'all! Any answer helps (as long as it relevant ofc).
Tittle is pretty self explanatory…when walking around campus/in class, are most students dressed in athleisure and sweatpants, or jeans and more ‘dress to impress’ clothes?
May be a silly question, but I’m from far away and want to get a better feel for the campus culture!
Got into W&L!!! But how does it honestly square up to other LACs in terms of Wall Street outcomes ? Especially compared to NESCAC schools like Amherst/Bates/Bowdoin/CMC/Davidson/Haverford/Midlebury/Swarthmore/Wesleyan etc)? Are there Wall Street opportunities in NYC as very few people seem to have heard of it in the northeast ? Much obliged.
I received this email today and was wondering if this is kind of a sign or if basically everyone gets this and not to get my hopes up
My younger son is considering applying to W&L this fall. We are Cali residents. How hard is it to get the 4 year full ride? I know they award Johnson to 44 students every year. Is the competition like over 10 to one?
Hi! I’m a prospective student who was selected as a finalist for one of the full ride scholarships! I’ve seen WLU gives out quite a few full ride scholarships through the Johnson and a few other programs, but do they give merit aid outside of this? Did anyone receive partial merit aid? I know this is common at most schools, but don’t see anything on the website. Thank you so much!!

On Scoir Coalition website, it's mentioned that Students who choose Biology major at Washington & Lee University constitute only about 3% of the student body. If I'm not wrong last admitted class was of about 502 students. Can anyone share their experience about the Biology program/major at Washington & Lee University?
Hey there!
My name is Shakhruz Bakhtiyarov. I am considering applying to W&Lee University in the ED II round as an international applicant. Are any juniors/seniors open to answering my questions and giving tips for internationals, via text messages or arranging a video conferencing session?
I will look forward to it!
Thanks
I am a current senior in high school who is going to attend W&L. My current laptop is super old and I will be getting a new laptop for collage. I was wondering if W&L prefers Macs or windows laptops or does it not matter. thanks
Anyone know where does W&L students go to graduate school for IR and Econ major?
I’m applying for w&l and I’m thinking about going test-optional. pretty good extracurricular and good gpa. possibly a 8/10 essay. what is my chance of getting in? I’ll appreciate if anyone getting w&l with test-optional gimme some advice :) thanks
Hello,
I am a prospective applicant at W&L. I have made a 37 page long detailed research paper in the international research field. I got 95% on it. I am interested in CS and Bio. I want to send my paper to the W&L admission officers. Will they accept such supplemental material? If yes, how can I send it?
I am very curious, did u all receive an admission package, a letter or any of the sort in your mail when you were admitted?
I am an admitted law student coming this Sunday to look at the law campus and walk around the buildings. I tried to schedule a tour but they don’t offer tours on Sundays. I will be in Virginia that weekend by chance, so I want to seize the moment and have a peek. I am seriously considering W&L as I have been offered an 80% tuition scholarship. Would a law student on campus be willing to meet up and show me around? Happy to get us lunch/coffee/whatever for your generosity and time.
Thanks
