2) Tutorials are a big help to the community and posting them is highly encouraged.
3) There are no stupid questions. Ask away.

5) Please keep photos free of distorting filters and text except a watermark. We're here to see the handcrafted artwork. :)
6) Have fun in here! Don't disparage your fellow redditors!
7) Please keep sales, trades, raffles and the like out of these posts! Thanks all!! There is a whole subreddit dedicated to selling and buying wire wrapped goods! :)

Happy holidays r/WireWrapping! Hope all your current wraps are going smoothly! I don't think we've done one of these posts before, and maybe should have thought of it before BF/cyber Monday but hindsight is 20/20.
Guidelines:
If you have a gift idea (or specific gift idea/brand/size/etc. request) for wire wrappers, post it in the comments below! Links to buy the product are allowed and encouraged. Please no self promotion or advertising gemstones or wire wraps in this thread. Just gift ideas that you would find useful, thoughtful, unique, or broadly good for wire wrapping, while not being something they probably already have. Since people browsing this post for ideas might not be as familiar with the craft, it would help to include a price, and brief description about why the suggestion would make a good gift. Thanks for participating! -zensnapple
Greetings and salutations!
I bought a couple of beautiful matching lepidolite cabochons to make pendants for my boyfriend and I, and I think they'll look best wrapped in something dark. Silver is too expensive for my budget, so I'm looking at using copper wire, and oxidizing it.
My questions:
What is the best kind of copper wire for oxidizing? Pure copper? Non-tarnish copper? Any specific hardness of wire?
What is the best brand of copper wire for wire wrapping?
What is the best supplier for copper wire to be used for wire wrapping jewelry?
What is the best method for oxidizing finished copper wire pieces? (I'm assuming I will want to oxidize the wire after the piece is wrapped, correct?)
It's been many years since I've done any wire wrapping, and I was definitely a beginner when I've done it in the past, so any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Trying to make a tree with black wire. But tiny bits of the paint keeps scratching off where the branches connect. Anybody know a colored wire that doesn't scratch easily?
I want to do this all the time. This is my happy place. I'm a weaver with wire but also with textiles. I have made many cotton towels this season and also wish I could do that all the time!
I am new to wire wrapping and I would like to buy a sturdy gauge of wire. I've been making some rings using 20 gauge wire, but the wire is a little too thin, so they often bend or break. I'd also like to make some earrings using just a single wire. I've attached some pictures of the kinds of things that I'd like to make with the wire. What would you recommend as the best gauge for things like this? I will probably also hammer it a little bit.
It always looks watery to me, so I worked on making a very flowy setting.
I'm looking for ideas on how to make a 3d mold that I could use to create a copper wire wrap sculpture and then remove. I could use paper-mache and soak in water to remove it afterwards but was hoping for something quicker. Any ideas?
Hello all! My partner recently started wire wrapping and i'm looking to buy him some must have supplies. I don't know much about the craft but so far i've got him a wooden ring mold for shaping and a few cabochons. He currently is practicing making rings using copper wire, so i'd like to buy him some more wire.
What gauges of wire should I look for? And is there any other necessities I should get him?
Thanks :)
I made this shark teeth necklace a few months ago but theres a weak point between the tooth and bead where wire keeps bending whenever I wear it. And recently a tooth finally broke off because of it. Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent the wire from bending there? Like should I wrap it a certain way or use stronger wire? I tried coiling the wire through the bead but it still bends in the same spot.
Hi r/wirewrapping! Each Friday (that I remember to), I'm going to post a discussion post and pin it to the top of the page. Each post will have a different prompt or question related to wire wrapping, meant to generate discussion and help us bounce ideas and thoughts and stories off each other. I have a list of questions and topics saved up, but if you have any ideas that you'd like to see as the weekly discussion post, message them to me and I will get it added to the list!
This weeks topic is: What part of your wire wrap journey are you currently putting off/procrastinating?
Personally, I've been slacking on making a website. I've tried a few times and just get bogged down in little details and decisions to the point where I don't get anything completed. One of these years I'll get to it! On a more technical level, I'd like to have been more comfortable soldering frames by now. I love the idea of attaching tube settings to them, and just haven't put the reps in to get comfortable with my soldering torch. How about you all?
Simple and Easy to make! ENJOY!
What's the best way to make these close?

Lots of excellent art on here. Wanted to share a ring I made for someone who wanted a purple stone ring. This stone has 100 faces in the cut so it really does sparkle under the lights.
When you started wire wrapping did you practice all the weaving techniques first. Which one did you practice first?
