I’m about to back out from buying a $195,000 property in Eagle Lake because this tax rate is legitimately theft.. how are you guys doing it? Estimate is annual, and directly from the Polk county: https://www.polkpa.org/taxEstimator.aspx?cookie_test=true
My property tax on a $450k property in Orlando is $4,500… that’s why I’m baffled.
I just moved here from Tampa and find it amusing that it is almost impossible to drive more than 3 or 4 minutes without seeing or driving around a lake! I'm sure that SOMEONE has done the calculation, so I'm curious. However, I'm a research geek, so if no one has the information, I'll have it in a couple of day! ;-)
Anybody have a good mechanic in WH to recommend?
Just like the title says. Does anyone know of a center that I can recycle cans and bottles in Winter Haven or nearby?
We found this baby alligator in front of our house, is it normal in Winter Haven to find a snake 3 days ago and now an alligator, what are the other animals that are common here?
Thanks for your help as we are new to the area and we are not familiar to all of these.
Hello! I am trying to help a close friend that recently moved to Winter Haven find a place that trains CNAs on the job. In Pa where she’s from there are plenty of these programs where you can get paid to go to classes and gain experience caring for people while you do it. Is anyone aware of a similar program in the area? She could really use the help.
Thanks!
My husband is 52 and retired due to a disabling disease. He’s still active though. I’m 45 and would work part time(right now I work with a couple of high end catering companies as a server and bar back). We own our home in Maine, but will list it this late Sept. We would buy a manufactured home outright and are looking for a community with a pool, easy to get to downtown and friendly neighbors! Thx!
I have a street legal dirtbike looking for some close trails or open lots that I can check out! Any tips?
Hi folks. My wife and I are nearing retirement (wooooo) and are doing some long weekend visits to places we think we may enjoy as a landing place. Would you be so kind as to recommend any "must sees" over a long weekend in September or any particular neighborhoods we should peek at while there (smaller low key). Thanks a bunch.
Okay so this is so random and I’m just HOPINGGGGG someone actually knows what I’m talking about; so my mom has worked at the hospital for my whole life and when I was younger in elementary school she would bring my dad and I lunch from work anytime they were serving the key west clam chowder or seafood chowder idk the exact name. She doesn’t remember the name of the chef who worked there at the time but it was like 2003-2005 maybe 6 I mean who knows how long the person worked there but I know for sure she was bringing it home thru that time LMAO. Sooo anyway it was my fav soup when I was younger and I just haven’t found anything close in taste to this chowder so if anyone anywhere knows who made this or something pls pls lmk Im honestly just curious and want to know if anyone loved it as much as me 😂💜
I am currently holding a schnauzer who was found near Wawa in Auburndale. I will hold this dog until tomorrow, when they will be surrendered to the first shelter that will take them. If you are missing a schnauzer and can identify them / prove you own them, please reach out.
Hi! I am looking to stay 2 nights near Inwood, is this a relatively safe place? I'm finding mixed reviews about the area. Thanks!
Hi Neighbors, I moved here from Tampa a month ago. Just curious, why is there no Target, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s??
Target = Lakeland or Davenport, Whole Foods = Tampa or Orlando, Trader Joe’s = Tampa or Orlando
At the very least I’d expect a Target. I know there’s Walmart, but personal preference, I do not like shopping there.
Someone on Neighborhood app said Walmart signed some agreement with the city to not let those stores in Winter Haven. IF that is true, seems the other stores would raise a pretty hefty lawsuit against Walmart.
Anyway, just curious if there was a legitimate reason why Target, Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s aren’t in Winter Haven.
Touted as Winter Haven's largest downtown project, is there any more information available?
Hi I’m an Aussie.. coming to Winter Haven over Xmas for a month with my wife and 4yo. Staying with my wife’s sister in WH.
Please help me plan some casual car rental.
A) Is there traditional or modern care share app type options in Winter Haven. (What brands / apps please)
B) Is there generally good public transport options to Orlando MCO and in general.
I’m trying to avoid renting a car at the airport and having to return it to the Airport.
Please and thanks 🙏🏼.
Does anyone know of some rentals currently available? Pet friendly, I have 2 cats. Kind of an emergency situation 😬
Anybody have any positive birth stories from Winter Haven Women's Hospital? I would love to hear them, please and thank you.
In the spirit of "be the change you want to see in the world", here's a place to ask for recommendations for various amenities in the Winter Haven area.
I went to my vet and they believe my dog tore his CCL (ACL). They want to do sedated x-rays to see if there's anything else because the tear won't show in an X-ray. Just curious if anyone has any experience with any local vets? The x-rays are gonna be $500 and who knows how much the surgery will be. Also, he's an 80lb 3 year old mixed breed, for reference. Thanks!!!

Hi! Me and my fiancé are planning to move to Florida in a few months and came across WH and actually loved what we've seen. Is it too good to be true? How are job opportunities in Winter Haven? Just some of the few questions I have. Any advice would be great!
My sister and brother in law, live in Naples. After mentioning we’re considering to move to the Tampa area, their recommendations are Lakeland and winter haven…. I joined these Reddit groups after and it seems opposite of what my family is looking for.. any neutral advice?
Hey guys. I am looking for something temporary for the summer until Aug. If you know any businesses that could use an extra hand let me know! Doesn't have to pay super well.
Are there any concerts or cool lounges around here to go to, I’m trying to out more but I just don’t know where to go
