Workforce WindsorEssex is currently recruiting new directors to serve on its Board. Directors are elected for a three-year term that starts on the date of the organization’s AGM (June 2023) and is renewable for one additional term.

Workforce WindsorEssex is a workforce and community development board whose mission is to lead regional employment and community planning for the development of a strong and sustainable workforce.

We are an experienced leader in the development of place-based tools, research, guides, and events that create positive change in the local labour market. These resources, created in close coordination with employment, education and industry partners, are designed to help job seekers, employers, students & educators, as well as the community, make more informed labour market decisions using locally-responsive, data-rich and unbiased resources.

The board completed a competency-based review of its existing board members. Although all individuals are welcome to apply; it was determined that recruiting new board members with the following competencies would further strengthen the board’s ability to govern the organization:

• Labour
• Manufacturing
• Education, Training, and Learning

Experience in working in or with not-for-profits is an asset.

• In March, there were 32,346 interactions on the job search tools by 6,997 users.
• The majority of users used the Job Board to search (25,162 interactions).
• The majority of searches were done by people in Windsor, Toronto, and Kingsville.
• The majority of interest by Skill Type were for Management Positions (17.6%).
• The majority of searches were for part time positions (58%).
• The majority of searches were for permanent positions (61.8%).
• Top Keywords Searched: "Part Time" "Customer Service" and "Windsor".
• Retail salespersons was the most clicked occupation with 1,492 interactions.
• Material handlers was the second-most clicked occupation with 771 interactions.

• 423 less job postings in March 2023 than March 2022.
• 2,077 companies posted for positions across 52 job boards.
• Jobs were posted for an average of 21.3 days.
• Job postings by Skill Type: Sales and Service Occupations were the majority of postings with 1,530 postings. Followed by: Trades, Transport and Equipment Operators and Related Occupations with 1,189 postings.
• 81.1% of job postings were for full time positions.
• 88.7% of job postings were for permanent positions.
• Top in-demand skill: Customer Service (1,390 postings).
• Most in-demand occupation: Retail salespersons (369 postings).

As the region looks forward to warmer months and mild weather ahead, both the job search and job demand activities in Windsor-Essex reflect this. We are examining some of the in-demand sectors in Windsor-Essex for March 2023, including Manufacturing, Health Care and Social Assistance, Accommodation and Food Services, and Construction.

March saw 6,330 total active job postings from 2,077 companies for an increase of 4.7% over the previous month’s 6,048 total active job postings. The Job Board and Job Map received 29,338 interactions from 6,997 users (a user increase of 9.7% over the previous month).
