Considering a week long trip to Williamsburg in December

Any suggestions on cool things to do? Would I be able to fill the time easily?

Voodoo Brewing

This is certainly not a good sign for the newest brewing addition to the Williamsburg area. Fort Worth location only lasted 3 months

Places for Engagement Photos

My fiancé and I moved to Williamsburg earlier this year and are taking engagement photos next month. Our photographer asked if we had any places in mind in Williamsburg and I am lost. What are some good places to take engagement photos?

Interesting Hobbies Quest

Hello,

I’m retiring from roller derby after almost 13 years and am looking for a new exciting hobby. Wondering what fun things there are to do in Williamsburg. I commuted to Richmond forever and am ready to find something closer. Not interested in pickleball 🤪

Toano political lighted sign.

I don’t care for this pro-Trump illuminated DOT type scrolling sign with its ridiculous talking points out near Andersons Corner. Why is this allowed when JCC has so many rules on roadside signs? Afraid of infringing on 1st amendment rights?

Local fresh roasted coffee beans?

Does anyone have recommendations for good, locally roasted fresh coffee beans?

I really enjoy my morning coffee ritual, and as a birthday gift earlier this year I got one of those coffee subscription services delivered by mail. It really was so much better than the beans I was buying at CostCo or any of the grocery stores in town. Before renewing the coffee subscription, I thought maybe someone on here might have a local roaster to recommend? I like medium to light roast. What would really be an amazing find is some place that has a roasting schedule, so you can get same day roasted beans, or maybe just one day old.

Ghost tours

I’ve seen a bunch of ghost tours in Williamsburg. Does anyone have one they recommend that they have done or heard about?

Capitol Landing Rd and 132

Any idea what happened there tonight? Seems like a bad accident.

Is there a Halloween parade this year? I looked online but there is nothing to see.

Looking for a place to hold Celebration of Life ceremony

I recently lost a family member who passed away and I do not live in the Williamsburg or tidewater area. The family member requested a Celebration of Life ceremony and I’ve been looking for a place that may hold 75-150 people. We are looking to have light refreshments as well. Any suggestions? Doesn’t have to be in Williamsburg, but we would like a nice room to hold this event in and I’m looking for ideas. Thank you!

Halloween items

I have once again procrastinated on Halloween. Does anyone know where to find a crown similar to this in store? Can be anywhere from Rva to wburg

Watch repair

Looking for an experienced/reputable watch repair service provider. Someone who can do a full service on an automatic movement, not just a jeweler who does battery changes. Would prefer Williamsburg, but open to suggestions in Richmond, Newport News, Hampton

We're from Phoenix AZ and taking our vacation here . What are your suggestions to do? We have made some plans but I'd be up for recommendations from local people? Great places to eat? Are there things that you recommend that are not in TripAdvisor (or such like)?

We have some things planned and also up for ideas.

Restaurant suggestions for a strict dairy free diet?

I have to stay strictly dairy free while breastfeeding my 6 month old- can't even have something cooked in butter. Does anyone have resrestaurant suggestions that cater to dietary restrictions like mine? (Contamination of cooking areas isn't an issue)

Early voting is straightforward and easy!

Went to vote early on Friday (JCC resident) and it took under five minutes. Everyone was v friendly and explained everything clearly. I believe there is early voting on Saturday, 11/2, as well, for those who can’t make it during the week (8a – 5p).

Anything that makes more accessible is a win for me. Bring your ID and off you go!

Edit: added Wburg options.

Relocating to Williamsburg in December - Housing Options?

Hi, I'm relocating to Williamsburg in December and I'm looking for suggestions and help with housing options. I'll be shopping for a house, either 250k cash purchase or up to 400k with mortgage (preferably less than 365k). 3br 2 ba, or 2br with den/office space + 2ba. But if I need to take out a mortgage, I'd want something really nice with sunroom and open floor plan. It doesn't seem like there're a lot of options right now, so I'd definitely need to rent first. But most places require 12 month lease, which would be a problem if I find a house to buy, say, in March.. so.. does anyone have any suggestions for this? Additionally, please let me know if you know of any good house for sale that fits in my budget, or have a 2br-3br nicer townhouse with flexible lease term up to 1700/month. Thank you!

Looking for a weeklong mid-December honeymoon idea and considering adding a stop and Williamsburg. Thoughts?

I was originally planning a weeklong trip to Snowshoe Mountain but I feel like there isn't enough to do there to will an entire week, especially since we aren't skiiers. We are looking for something with a Christmasy vibe. So I happen to run across Wiliamsburbg, VA. Please educate me! :) Maybe I could fly into Richmond to get to both destinations.

Traumatic Injury Care Course - Saturday Nov. 16th

We will have a medical course on Nov. 16th!

This course will cover injuries that need to be addressed to prevent death before EMS arrives. You could see them in a vehicle accident, the workplace, or even at home. You will gain the knowledge AND the tools to care for traumatic injuries. The course includes a trauma first aid kit (IFAK), which is comprised of a tourniquet, chest seals, gauze, etc.

The course will be taught by veteran Navy SEAL Combat Medic Jim LaPaglia. After leaving the Navy, Jim deployed multiple times as a contractor with the CIA. He also spent the last 20 years as a lead firearms and medical instructor for Armed Forces Experimental Training Activity Department of Defense (AFETA) and law enforcement when not deployed.

DM or email us if you’re interested! The course address will be provided to those interested. If you can’t attend this course, follow us on social media for future course offerings (link in the comments).

Big Bad Returns!

Man, I miss Big Bad Wolf. It was a great "first" coaster for my kids (and Verbroken always gives me a headache and sore neck).
