I'm an Equinox member and Bathhouse go-er. Maintaining memberships at both can be quite expensive and inconvenient. Equinox just has a steam room. Vital has a small sauna. I wish there was a gym that combined both experiences—offering fitness facilities along with bathhouse amenities. Has anyone else felt this way? Do you have any suggestions?
I was walking down Metropolitan and this giant disco horse pulled up and turned onto Graham. So, I guess, Happy Disco Horse Day to all who celebrate.
A few months ago, while I was searching for a temporary place to stay in New York, my friend and I developed a Facebook parser to automate the process. This parser automatically scans the FB Marketplace and compiles the results into a Google Sheet, featuring new sublets in New York. Several users of this Google Sheet have mentioned to me that although the document is valuable, it's difficult to navigate.
Responding to feedback, we were inspired to create free a mobile app with a newsfeed reminiscent of Instagram, where new listings are displayed in chronological order. If you're still on the lookout for a place in New York and are interested in exploring an app that lists all properties in chronological order, please check out the links below:
For iPhone and iPad: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/findsublet/id6498717391
For Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tfindublet.app
Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions on how to further improve the app!

Hi all! My husband (29) and myself (31) are moving to NYC after 10 years in Washington, DC. We're considering a 2 bedroom loft in between Broadway and Throop on Whipple near the Flushing Ave station and wanted to see what people thought of the area, whether they had any good food/drink spots, safety concerns, or other things to consider before applying. For additional reference, we've looked at it on FaceTime and are headed up to NYC this weekend to check the place out IRL as well, but wanted to do as much research as we could given the short timeframe.
I’m thinking about moving to this area from out of town & wanted to know if this walk down Montrose is safe for women early in the morning/at night? I know nothing about the area.
Hi everyone, I got my bike stolen last week and wondering if anyone has any tips or ideas on how I can work a miracle and find it! I left it locked by Trader Joe’s on the bike rack at the corner of North 3rd and Kent (on 3rd). I am checking craigslist…
It’s a black schwinn hybrid bike, 26 or 28 inch wheels
Thanks all!!!!!
Trying not to do Amazon. Tried to go to dollar tree in Greenpoint today but it was closed. Any recs?
Looking for a bar/arcade bar that has one of those arcade basketball games. Trying to see if anyone knows of one in Williamsburg, Bushwick, or even Bed-Stuy - just tryna shoot some hoops with the lady in a friendly competition 😂
Any recs for spots that are open and yummy for 12/25, I’d be grateful! GP and Williamsburg preferred but open to other neighborhoods
To bring my female friends in their 30s?
Just found this 5 minutes ago.
Message or chat me with what area/blocks you might’ve lost it and happy to meet up if you can confirm.
Hoping to not get trolled for this but I’m recovering from knee surgery and live on a fourth floor walkup. I have an IKEA glass coffee table (unassembled) that I asked to be brought up to my apartment floor and of course they ditched the 60lb package in my mailroom.
I called them and they didn’t help and said it’s too late to do anything blah blah.
my question is if someone is willing to come into my building, bring it to the fourth floor, and I’ll give you $20 for doing me a favor.
Otherwise I’ll find some friends to help but none are locally available and I’m worried it will get stolen.
Thanks - you can laugh, this is pretty pathetic
Went to stand by grand torino and it was 170 for the small tree lol. Last year I got one near la monte for 70$. Willing to leave the neighborhood a bit but wanted some good recs! happy holidays :)
Hi, so I have 3 HVAC systems that are in the living room, bedroom 1, bedroom 2 and they are placed at the top of the walls in each room. We don't have a central heating system for our building. I'll have these blasting at 84 degrees so that it covers all rooms but it's still cold. It's tolerable but still not ideal. My concerns is that the heat will run up the bills this winter. Is there anyway you can get your landlord to convert to Central Heating System in the state of New York? My neighbors are also having this difficulty. Any tips help. Thank you xoxo.
On weekends around McCarren Park or shops on North 6th street, there are always people standing on corners soliciting donations for groups like Planned Parenthood, International Rescue Committee, etc. They are legit, wearing vests designating their organization, and try to stop folks to chat them up and get them to donate. It's rare that I ever seen anyone talking to them, and New Yorkers are very good at pushing past and ignoring them.
I have to wonder - are these efforts successful? Do on-street solicitation of donations really work and re they actually necessary for these huge non-profits? What does the pay look like for folks who stand outside asking for donations? It can seem thankless facing so much rejection.
Wondering how this is still a thing in 2024!
Title. For winter festivities and what not. Where might you go to thrift one?
Hi all - I am a freelance writer based in Brooklyn. I made a post in this subreddit over the summer regarding a potential story about the closure, $250k fundraiser, and re-closure of the Williamsburg location of Boris & Horton dog cafe in the span of a few short months. At the time, my writing partner and I didn't end up getting picked up by any publications. However, now that the East Village location has also shut down, we are revamping the story and are in initial talks with one New York-based publication.
We were able to connect with a former employee and a Boris & Horton customer through my last post. Now that we're updating the story and (hopefully) getting it published, I wanted to post again. We would love to hear from some former employees, customer, and/or some folks that donated to the fundraiser to keep Boris & Horton open. We would be interested to get your perspective on how the fundraising and re-opening process went down, as well as managements general handling of the situation and communication with staff members. Our piece will also feature some commentary on the nature of GoFundMe campaigns in general, examining the ethics behind them and what businesses owe to the people that donate to save them.
If you are interested in connecting, feel free to message me here on Reddit. We can then continue the conversation over email or phone.
I’ve seen various suggestions for full sized trees but anyone know a local spot(preferably Williamsburg bridge area) that sells those small table top Christmas trees (~2 ft tall) that are actually in a pot of soil and not cut?
Just bought our Christmas tree yesterday we are struggling to find places that sell tree skirts other than just a white piece of cloth. Any ideas in the neighborhood?
lol just stumbled on this this morning. iconic really. gonna have to try this at some point..
