The megathread is archived so I'm making a separate post.
I always loved wholesomememes for putting a smile on my face when i needed it the most, and I'm thankful to all the people that post there for helping me and a lot of other users out by making their day/life a bit better.
But i started noticing a lot of posts that, well.. They're wholesome by definition but i don't think someone who's depressed and lonely (most people that come to the sub) really likes seeing that stuff. What I'm talking about is posts along the lines of "My boyfriend gave me a gift I'm so happy" or "my girlfriend did this and that" "my crush did this" or "omg my gf is so beautiful". You know what i mean. Those posts actually make me feel even worse because i can't relate at all nor will i be able to in the nearest future. Of course I'm happy for people that are happy, but when I'm in a bad mood, that's not something i wanna see. I hope you understand.
It’s late, so I can’t do it today, but I wanted to encourage you all to specifically shout someone out today or tomorrow. It really makes someone’s day and improves everyone’s mood. Good vibes do spread.
I have a weekly lunch date with a coworker, but it’s our busy season at work so we’ve had to cancel 2 or 3 weeks in a row. When I saw her at a work event on Thursday, we both kind of did the “omg how ARE you?!” Thing, to which a third colleague lol’ed and stated offhandedly that “it’s like we work together or something lol”.
And while she’s right, and it was funny, it was also a moment where we both felt like we hadn’t caught up in awhile and really missed chatting. We explained the lunch dates and then it made more sense.
So shout someone out tomorrow. Tell them you’re thinking about them and hope all is well. People like to be noticed and appreciated, and we don’t do enough of that for each other.
So I hope you’re doing well, Internet strangers. I hope you have a good nights rest and a great day tomorrow, and I look forward to catching up with you!
So, to start, I don't know where to post something like what I'm about to write, but here I go. So yesterday, I was on r/neopets and I saw that someone got a secret laboratory map piece via random event ( if you don't play neopets, just know that random events like that are rare and the map piece they got was one of the rarest and highly-sought-after ones in the game) I commented "nice!" on their post and this started a convo in which they gave me two of their repeat map pieces. Being grateful, I bought something from their shop in return, I thought that was it. Nope, it just gets better! Both of us had mentioned in the thread that we were saving for certain paintbrushes. (I wanted a faerie one and was saving up that np hardcore for it.) So, today, a third person saw our thread and just gave out 1million np to each of us (at least to me, I'm assuming it's both of us) just for the wholesomeness of the thread. I didn't expect it at all! I'm so happy right now! Whenever, I get enough again, I'll get them a paintbrush in return. So, now I have one of my main dreamies (a faerie grarrl, for those who play neopets) and I'm two map pieces closer to doing ZYDP for people who want to have their dream pet. This just made my day.
TL;DR: Two wholesome neopets players helped get one of my dream neopets as well as a set of rare items, and it all started with me commenting "nice!" in response to someone getting a rare item in the game.
Heres a convo with a mod on r./wholesomemes about the issue, they claim I am concern trolling. But seriously. https://imgur.com/a/ykTCTuq
Im sure that im not the only one who is bugged by this right?
Is it so hard to add a rule to link the source thread?

This comic is racist and leaving it up is against the spirit of the subreddit.
The comments support that. The top comment chain is at ~8300 points (next best is ~1400) and points out how un-wholesome it is. It currently has 93 child comments continuing that conversation with a general atmosphere of agreement. There are also numerous removed comments expressing dissent. Ignoring this is insulting and against the spirit of the subreddit. There is a message in the comic in addition to racism but there is no interpretation without racism. I disagree with the assertion that this has been resolved by the subreddit to be acceptable. Opinion is clearly divided and the against side is not insignificant. The presence of that anti-wholesome message should disqualify it from this network.
When I subscribed about a year ago, making a meme/image that wasn't originally positive wholesome used to be the whole point of this sub. The posts that didn't do that were at least funny.
I think it has to do with the fact that the sub is enormous now, but so many on this sub nowadays are just wholesome without having a joke in them. Cutesy comics without a punchline, wholesome news headlines or just [positive tweets without a joke of any kind.] (https://www.reddit.com/r/wholesomememes/comments/7w4rie/twinsies/?ref=share&ref_source=link)
There are a whole load of subreddits where this stuff can be posted that are listed in the sidebar, but these posts still make up the majority of the sub.
The fact that the sub has become so unfunny and general really bothers me, because this used to be one of my favorite subs.
I get there may be a hesitation to enforce the rules and remove posts that don't belong there, since it's a wholesome and accepting sub, but I think it would be better if the mods were a bit more strict about the rules.
Hey Peeps, im Gorduk aka Mathew and im writing my Bachelor Thesis in Sociology and my Topic is about: "how certain aspects in a Live Streaming environment influence our decision to buy a game/produkt !" Hello everyone. I have started a gaming YouTube channel for children and young people where the content can be reliably content appropriate.
I have worked with children and young people for over 8 years, and I have been a gamer for even longer.
With a lot of gaming content aimed at children and young people I believe that some of the games are not suited for them, e.g. grand theft auto and even five nights at Freddy’s can have a negative impact on younger children who are watching let’s play. In addition some of the language used by a lot of youtubers can be seen as offensive and most would not want their children repeating what is said.
There is also a flood of content aimed at children with a malicious intent (such as the videos with the most popular random tags to generate views or videos made to look friendly only to have shock value) with many still getting though the YouTube kids app.
So, that’s why I have started this channel. The games I play will range between E for everyone and T for teens (e.g. overwatch). I will also be keeping the language clean.
This is the first time I have ever done video/sound editing as well as video game commentary. So it will be a learning process. I fear that it will start off abit cringey and low quality, but the more I do it the better I will get. As of this post I have only a few videos on the channel but I aim to have at least 3 videos added each week.
And as a final note, I just want to point out that I am not against violent or scary games and play them in my spare time myself. But having seen first-hand children’s reactions to content that they were not ready for (I have met parents whose children as young as 3 have had nightmares about five nights at Freddy’s and not being aware that the game was even from the horror genre or that their children were watching it).
So, I am the Good Natured Gamer. And I hope you and your family enjoy my videos.
Hi, I just wanna start by saying that I really enjoy your take on the internet. It can be a rough place and to have this kind of save spot is a beautiful thing. I really mean it. I'm not subscribed to any wholesome subs but I enjoy them a lot and I look at them regularly. I try to be a nice and cool guy. I never bully someone willingly or try to shut them down. I like respectful discussions. Even though life made me a bit sarcastic and cynical, I think I got an pretty clean sheet for a redditor...
So there was this post about a boy who took an IQ test and scored very high. 'more than Einstein'... I wanted to be part of the discussion and tell the people things I know about IQ tests and the problems with them.
I was objective and neutral. Nothing bad or harmful.
And I got banned, just for that. I wanted to know why, and the mod just answered:'we don't need your negativity'.
I really don't understand that. I didn't want to be mean or anything and I'm sorry if I hurt anyone...
Maybe you can tell me what I did wrong so I can be more respectful next time.
