Rules - Wiki

  1. Be nice. Do not insult others, use derogatory terms, or resort to ad hominem arguments.
  2. Do not downvote. As this is a debate forum, we ask that you join the conversation, and not attempt to bury a point you don't like. If a post breaks the rules, please report it.
  3. Repost with moderation. We will remove posts that are duplicated in quick succession. We do not allow very similar posts on the same day, or an individual posting very similar posts every couple of days repeatedly. However, revisiting topics every once in a while is allowed.
  4. Do not make new posts more than 5 times a day.
  5. When making a claim about a character, be able to provide the source of that claim. A source can include the work of media that claim comes from, and the chapter, page, scene, ETC where it occurred. Refusal to provide details is considered posting in bad faith and can result in a warning or temporary ban.
  6. Do not post meta-topics without mod approval, except on "Meta Monday" when we open posts to general meta conversation. Meta-topics include conversation topics, tournaments, events, or other non-conventional posts. This rule will only be enforced Tuesday through Sunday.
  7. Do not use disruptive or gimmick accounts. Accounts posting with a gimmick or agenda in mind will be banned.
  8. Posts may not be overly broad. A post must identify at least one specific combatant and must include all combatants in the title. A post may not include "...in all of fiction" or "...in all of history."
  9. Posts must include sufficient details about the characters, the situation and the win conditions. Posts with low effort descriptions will be removed.
  10. Do not use disallowed combatants and modifiers. Topics not allowed in posts include "you vs...", "your favorite character vs...", "a specific subreddit or online community vs..." or "character with a [color] lantern ring vs..."
  11. Posts and comments may not be deliberately distasteful, edgy, intended to bait drama, directly insulting, or clearly written to evoke shock value.
  12. Posts and comments may not push a specific political agenda. Posts involving any real-life political figure will be removed.
  13. Posts and comments may not simply be jokes, memes, circlejerk or copy-pasta topics. Posts that are funny are allowed, so long as they are also a topic that can effectively be discussed.
  14. Posts and comments that target a group of people (including but not limited to race, sex, gender identity, religion, political affiliation) are considered abuse and will be removed and the poster may be banned.
  15. Comments must add to the conversation. Short comments like "Goku stomps," or a single image as a non-responsive reply will be removed.

Additional Guidelines:

  1. Include detail when posting. Try outlining arenas, special conditions, multiple rounds and specifying the universe/version of characters if you're looking for a good discussion. Again, please see the suggested template above for more details.

  2. Admit when you don't know. No one expects you to be a genius when it comes to every aspect of every character. Always admit it up front if you're unfamiliar with a character.

The penalty for breaking the rules of this sub, contributing to spam, trolling, or purposefully making things more difficult for the mods may include being banned. We issue warnings if we believe the user means well but we are not obligated to do so. You can be banned for a first offense. Report rule breaking and leave rule enforcement to the mods

Remember, the mods are humans, and we realize you're human, too. Be nice and we'll respond in kind. Apologies go a long way if you mess up.

Eric Cartman VS Undyne the undying

Imagine South Park and Undertale are in the same universe.

Eric Cartman falls into the underground as the 7th human and has enough determination to take flowey’s save file like Frisk did.

He starts by doing a neutral run, but after dying once to mad dummy he finds out the power of his save file, resets and starts a genocide route.

My question is, would he be powerful enough to get past Undyne the undying, or would he eventually give up, reset and do an alternative route?

Who would win in a hypothetical war between China vs Japan - 1v1 (no allies). No nukes please!

I saw a similar question 5-months ago, but the question asked China vs Japan+S.Korea+Phillipines.

But I would really like to know, military wise, can Japan defend itself from China, and even attack and invade China?

Flyman vs Catman vs Spiderman

If there were three guys, each the same size, who had all the best traits of their respective animals, which one would win? Any trait of each specific animal that you think would be beneficial in a fight can be used by the guy representing that animal. Ex: Spiderman can have 8 limbs if you want him to. Assume they start in a UFC octagon that is a cage overhead 30 feet. Fight is to the death.

Force users (Star Wars) run a Godzilla Gauntlet

Starkiller, Darth Vader, Palpatine, Revan Reborn and Luke Skywalker all unite temporarily to fight the giant kaiju. For this, legends and canon are allowed to be used for both Darth Vader, Palpatine and Luke. In canon, at least Darth Vader and Palpatine have gone up against kaiju, where Darth Vader manages to mind control a summa verminoth species which Palpatine later Force crushes. Darth Vader also has defeated a shark kaiju and the sando aqua monster (I don't think he has gone up against kaiju in legends). Coupled with Starkiller's insane Force and lightning, Palpatine's storm, and Luke being pretty much one of the most powerful Force users, they should give the G man a run for his money.

Combatants are on opposite sides of a city, where Starkiller, Darth Vader, Palpatine, Revan Reborn and Luke Skywalker have the mission to kill Godzilla. Initially, Godzilla does not see them as a threat (because they are humans) until one of them manages to hurt him, before he gets serious. Battle is won/lost if combatants are killed, knocked out, or retreat.

Round 1: Zilla (1998)

Round 2: OG Gojira 1954

Round 3: Zilla jr

Round 4: Godzilla Minus One

Round 5: Showa Godzilla

Round 7: Heisei Godzilla (no burning)

Dracule Mihawk (One Piece) vs. Alucard (Hellsing Ultimate)

I lowkey just thought of this because Dracule and Dracula are similar names, and Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards, (also because I think in the lore of the Hellsing manga Alucard is just Dracula and he changed his name but I'm not completely confident as I haven't read it myself), but I unironically think this would be a pretty good fight. It would be drawn out due to Mihawk's durability, speed, and attack power, but I overall think that Alucard would win due to his sheer indestructability, but I'm curious what others think about this.

100 Medieval peasants vs 100 modern cops

Team peasants: 100 prime male medieval peasants with their working tools (shovels, sickles, hammers, knives, etc).

Team cops: 100 fat and unfit NYPD beat cops with taser guns, rubber bullet guns, bean bag guns, batons, and pepper spray. No lethal guns or ammo.

Fight is on an empty football field.

The jaeger program (pacific rim) turns to giant animals instead of giant robots. What’s the weakest that could defend earth?

The jaeger program turns to preparing an animal to fight/hunt the kaiju. The animal in question will be scaled to the size of the jaegers, and can be assumed to leave humans/livestock alone. Carnivorous/omnivore animals can safely eat kaijus.

The Doctor (Doctor Who) vs Superman (DC

I’ve been debating on this one for a while, and I wanna hear what other people think. Here are the rules:

  1. Both characters will be composite for all their versions

  2. The character’s personalities will be based on the scenarios below

  3. All feats will be taken into account in the scenarios

  4. Neither character can transcend the other’s narrative like ‘the story of Superman’ or any of the doctor’s narrative control. It equals out because both are important to their verses.

  5. Both must win by incapacitating, trapping, or killing one another

  6. Referring back to rule 4, both characters' verses are merged.

Here are the rounds

  1. The unexpected

The doctor loses his tardis and is stuck in a metropolis. Has all his regular equipment from his sonic screwdriver, psychic papers, and his usual ability to talk his way out of a problem. He must defeat Superman to get his tardis back with it being currently seized by Lex Luther. Superman will have his standard abilities but no fortress of solitude. The doctor can also win if he discovers who Clark Kent is or Incapacitates Superman.

  1. The Meeting

Superman and The Doctor meet head-on with both having all standard equipment. The doctor has his tardis and Superman has the fortress of solitude. The doctor has just traveled to Earth and must defeat Superman due to him causing an issue that causes problems for a future timeline. Superman must defeat the doctor due to his meddling with time.

Both can win if either can trap or stop the other permanently without killing

  1. The War

The doctor loses one of his most important companions/friends (Rose, River, Amy, etc) to Superman after he kills them for his incompetence. The doctor accidentally erases Lois Lane from the timeline due to the butterfly effect.

The doctor has released every meaning of the word of restraint becoming ‘Timelord victorious’ and Superman will do everything to permanently put down the doctor.

Both will have full resources for anything they’ve ever done or had. For example with the doctor: ‘the moment’ ‘the key to time’ ‘the glory’

Superman ‘the cosmic armor’ ‘sword of Superman’ ‘the miracle machine’

Both are at their peaks.

Bonus:

Superman can fight the doctor with the entire Justice League and Earth's heroes. The doctor can use the entire might of the time lords, unit, and every companion.

Ultimate Feline Beast vs Ultimate Canine Beast

Both "beasts" are genetically evolved to have the most beneficial traits from their respected families. e.g Feline can have a lion mane, but be fast like a cheetah.

Feline stands at 230 pounds and the Canine is slightly heavier at 260lb. Both are peak condition.

Fight takes place in open grass field, with both animals starting 100 yards away from one another.

In your imagination, who wins?

Damien (The Omen - 1976) VS Carrie (Carrie - 1976)

Of the top murderous minors of 1976 who would win in a straight fight both children are invited to a large function and sense the others prescence and know they must kill the other they will instantly recognise the other (so Damien being a younger innocent looking child is no advantage) Carrie is as unrestricted with her powers as she is at the end of her film Damien Has no direct satanic backup besides the Rottweiler Familiar

Round 1 : 5 year old Damien as seen in Omen 1

Round 2 : Teenage Damien as seen in Omen 2

Round 3 : Adult Damien played by Sam Neil in Omen 3

US military vs terminid bile-titans(Helldivers) and Tyranid Hierophant bio-titans(Warhammer 40k)

Rules and notes:

-There are 12 Bio-titans and 144 bile-titans and they all emerge 15 miles from Chicago on the 1st of November

-The titans are directed by a moderately intelligent hivemind that has the singular goal of making Chicago an even worse place to live than it is already or destroy entirely if they can

-The US government and military know where the titans are popping up and have 2 months to prepare and move assets to defend Chicago, they don’t know what they’re up against but they know it’s big and it’s gonna show up soon

-Use of nuclear weapons is allowed but only as a last ditch effort and given the radioactive fallout would likely reach Chicago even if they nuked the titans as soon as they appeared it’ll still count as a small win for the titans

-If Chicago is entirely destroyed and there is atleast 1 titan left after then the titans win otherwise it’s a win for the USA though how big of a win theoretically varies wildly

Jet stream Sam (metal gear rising, has both arms) vs samurai jack (samurai jack)

In this story Sam and jack are both ready for a fight to the death, even terrain, both have their weapons ready (think like what we saw with Sam vs raiden) the only difference is that Sam has both of his original arms. For me i think the fight is even but I think jack might just barely have the win because of his speed and far greater training.

The Culture (Banks) vs Stellaris player-controlled crisis empire

In each of the following scenario, the win condition for the Culture is to destroy the Stellaris empire's fleet, and generally cause enough damage for the economy to enter a downward spiral and cause constant rebellions. The Stellaris empire's win condition is to complete the win condition for their respective crisis (Aetherophasic engine for nemesis, Horizon Needle for Cosmogenesis)

Round 1:

A late game Galactic Nemesis Empire has taken over half of the galaxy. They are Determined Exterminators, they've built one of every mega-structure and is currently on stage 4 of the crisis. The Culture must prevent them from destroying the galaxy.

Round 2:

A late game Cosmogenesis empire that has constructed the Synaptic Lathe and researched every technology in the game, and has constructed one of every mega-structure. They are on stage 4 of the crisis.

Round 3:

A late game Cosmogenesis empire that is playing on grand admiral difficulty, they directly rule half of the galaxy, the other half is controlled by their AI vassals, with +75% resource and tech contribution.

Round 4:

An alliance of 3 Stellaris players have conquered the galaxy. 2 of them are machine empires that have taken Cosmogenesis, and specialized in tech and resource production traditions. 1 of them is a galactic nemesis empire on stage 4. Each player has built one of every megastructure. The 2 cosmogensis empires funnel all of their excess energy and minerals to the Nemesis, and the Nemesis player specializes in cranking out countless menacing fleets.

House (House, M.D.) vs. The Red Death (Osmosis Jones)

Considering Zak Penn, a House alum, helped pen the script I figured it's a neat matchup.

House must diagnose the disease and treat it before it kills Frank.

Assumptions: All rules from Osmosis Jones universe apply: Cells are intelligent organisms with personalities and pills are special agents. However they are of varying effectiveness depending on their skills.

Round 1: House has access to your pick of team members, but does not have access to Ozzy and Drix. He must diagnose and cure the disease without competent help from the inside. Thrax (the Read Death) is in early stages.

Round 2: House does not have a team, but does have Ozzy and Drix. Thrax is still in early stages.

Round 3: House has both a team AND Ozzy and Drix, but Thrax is in its end stages and they only have a day to diagnose and cure the disease.
