My boyfriend and I are planning a trip to Montana in June or July and I need help with finding an itinerary! I have been looking at places to visit like glacier national park. There is so much to see and I want to see it as much as I can! I want to stay around the northwest area in Montana! Like whitefish but not picky!
I know that it is very busy in the summer months and you usually need a pass to drive through the park but I am open to driving to other towns and staying at different places!
We are just looking to travel and have fun so please help!!!!
Hi everyone!
I have a break in work during the middle of April (7-14) and would love to go to whitefish. I went last year during ski season and it was amazing, but i know April is an odd time. It’ll be the middle of April so I’m not sure how accessible hiking and spring like activities will be. Glacier says that going sun road will be open, but they say online they don’t clear it till May/june. Will the lake still be frozen over?
Any insight is appreciated, thank you so much!
My gf and I just moved to the area to help out family, don't know anybody. Thought I'd put myself out there a little bit to make some friends. My names Alex, I'm 31, and love the outdoors, lifting weights, hiking, kayaking, fishing, hunting, backpacking, soccer, basketball, snowboarding. I'm a carpenter by trade and work for a local builder building some of these crazy builds in the area. Just looking for some bros to kick it with. Let's grab a brew, go fishing, shooting, hiking. Big into self-development, reading, business etc. as well. Let me know
The 2024/2025 lift ticket prices are up and gone are the days of sub-$100 lift tickets. I’m honestly surprised it took this long. What does everyone think a season pass will cost for the 2025/2026 season?
I moved into the area and I'm looking for clients. My license is general contractor and have all the insurance etc the state needs. I have 20 plus years of experience.
I have begun signing up for the home Depot pro referral program which should be done by the end of the week.
What other ways can I attract customers in the area of the Flathead valley?
Been tryin’ my best…
Being as remote as we are in parts of my beautiful home state of Montana, resources can be well-stretched at times – but we make do however we can.
Just thought I’d share it with you, my fellow western MT pals up in Whitefish, to wave hello from this big patch of nothin I make music from.
I already feel like hauling all that gear out in the sticks was absolutely worth the grunt.
However, I would be deeply obliged if you gave a listen and let me know what you think as well.
Darkly yours,
I’m flying out of FCA on a Saturday afternoon. No checked bags, just a carry-on and a rental car. How long would you leave at the airport to make sure you don’t miss your flight?
2:30 PM takeoff
It’s official. Whitefish is only for the Uber wealthy now with over 50% of businesses in town owned by out of state rich people. Thought Kemo Sabe was bad enough with their aspen image and fake cowboy baboonery but the Clydesdale guys just turned it up a notch with the fake cowboy Montana BS and all that money and free time. Sorry just had to let it out real quick.
There are 3 large, matching white crosses and what looks like the stake of a 4th cross that’s gotten broken on the Westbound side of Hwy 2 (maybe 40?). Going back to Whitefish from GNP. They aren’t the usual memorial white crosses with the red stakes that the American Legion places. What happened there? 🙁
I recently moved to the area and I was wondering, would anybody would be down to rally? Are any tennis leagues available to join at any time of the year? Also, are there any indoor courts, or are the public ones the only options? I know winter is on its way so there are only a few more weeks to hit outside.
My skill level is intermediate skewing a little more towards advanced. Would love to find some hitting partners!
I see there are a few old posts about this so wondering if it’s changed. Is it reliable to get an Uber or taxi at night on the weekends? Looking to book an airbnb that’s ~5miles west of town for a bachelorette but don’t want to get stranded if we decide to go into town one night.
I was driving on highway 40 when the sun was setting and I saw a bright light in front of a cloud to the north east. It looked like a plane but it wasn’t moving and it was much brighter, like a star. A tree blocked my view of it for a few seconds and when I was in view again it was gone. Anyone else see this too? Or am I crazy?
Originally from eastern MT, went to school in Missoula.
Moved to Denver years ago, met my wife and had a kid, moved home. When we first moved from Denver back to MT we settled in Kalispell. Had some issues with the rental and decided to move to Whitefish.
To the point or title, where is all the good restaurants in town? I’m not talking the fancy restaurant that are catering to vacationers? I’m talking the everyday, breakfast/lunch, small local places that have good quality food. I have tried a couple places around town with burritos or sandwiches and it’s meh IMO.
An example I can give in Kalispell is Food For the Soul MT. It was half the price but twice the quality.
I could be mistaken, maybe a little bit ignorant. So I post here to be guided or enlightened to where the good food is? Does it exist? Or do these places struggle in WF cuz rents are too high, etc.
I would like to acknowledge Rebel Roots Kitchen. Little $$ but top tier IMO.
Looking for a Bluegrass duo or trio in the Whitefish area to perform for a wedding. Any musicians here or recommendations?
Locals here who don’t have tv but want to go have a drink/apps and watch - does anyone know any of the bars which will show it (and not be so loud - like The Northern or Craggy)?
I'm in need of a HVAC servicing company in Whitefish area to do annual checks (one in fall, and one in spring) of our HVAC system in our small townhome. Does anyone have a service provider they're happy with? We had one, but they want to raise their price to nearly $2500 annually for what amount to about 4 hours of site visits.
Greetings friends,
I’m in town for a week and wondered about any bars that have food deals on certain weekdays. I have an everyman palate. I am a big guy and big eater.
I appreciate your suggestions.
Thanks
My cousin is getting married next year and we’re looking for places for a bachelorette weekend. What are some of the awesome things we can do here? We all love camping, hiking, looking for places to eat, or other activities.
Hello Whitefishers,
My wife and I will be spending next week in your lovely town and it’s our first time. We have always wanted to go and right now the only thing we have planned is a day in Glacier National Park and the Alpine Slides.
We would really appreciate any recommendations on things to do while we’re there. We open to most anything!
My wife and I are coming out Oct 3rd
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good, local, insurance company that offers decent rates for home or condo insurance?
Hey, just wondering if there are many chiropractors in the area. Or if they are lacking in that department around there. Any info would be appreciated!!
Looking at purchasing a property in Olney. Wondering if anyone else lives out that way and whay do you think of the drive to whitefish. We will have a young daughter so worried about drive to activities and school. Looking for thar lifeatyle just worried about road conditions and distance. Thanks
Genuinely curious, what do people do for work to afford living in Whitefish?
We’re from out of state (don’t worry, we’re not planning on moving here) and we love to Zillow the prices of homes in the area we are visiting. It’s a so beautiful but find it wild how much homes cost here and the Flathead Valley in general.
Big poster on the front doors read, STORE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
anyone know why?
We’re from Alabama and no one in our family has ever been skiing. I typically prefer tropical for spring break but my kids (who will be 19F and 17M in March 2025) have been requesting a ski trip. We have an opportunity to travel with a couple other families for next spring break. Both my kids are athletic and I have no doubt they will pick up skiing pretty quickly, but we are wondering what else there is for my wife and I to do since we have since we literally have zero ski experience. Any suggestions for some alternative activities would be greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to find some decent German beers around here but have been struggling to find them. Erdinger, Paulaner, Weihenstephaner, Bitburger, Hofbrau, Franciskaner, etc.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
