Welcome to r/whitecapsfc, the subreddit for Vancouver Whitecaps FC news and discussions.

No spam, racism, player bashing, or trash talk. For "trash talk" there are specific threads in /r/MLS. Do not downvote opinions if you do not agree with them or because they may be a supporter of another team. Let's try & keep things civil.

Ticket sales are allowed within reason, but cannot be priced above face value. We can remove sales threads at our discretion if we feel like it goes against the spirit of why we allow ticket sales in the first place; for fans unable to attend games they bought tickets for and would like another fan to have that opportunity. If you bought season tickets for Messi and want to sell off your tickets for all the other games, go somewhere else.

Concourse view

Hello!
Haven't be able to find info on views from the concourse in the stadium. Does anyone know if there is a bar or good place to stand in the concourse area with a view of the field if we're needing a break from the crowd?
Thank you!

Looking for Vancouver-area bar showing Galaxy-sounders

Sounders fan coming back from skiing Saturday afternoon. Is there a good spot in or near Vancouver to take a break from driving and watch the conference finals?

The Ballad of Vanni Sartini

The Ballad of Vanni Sartini

From Florence’s streets, where passion was born, To Vancouver’s pitch, where a new path was sworn. With fiery resolve and a heart full of zeal, Vanni Sartini made us believe, made us feel.

Three times he brought us the Canadian crown, With banners unfurled and rivals cast down. A maestro of tactics, his touch was divine, The king of the cup in our proud northland shrine.

But in playoff arenas, his luck turned to woe, The victories promised would never bestow. For while the fire burned bright in his chest, The playoffs demanded more than his best.

Players once rallied by his fervent decree, Grew weary of tempests, longed to be free. For a coach’s voice, sharp as the sea breeze, Can inspire or burden, can soothe or displease.

And so the tide shifted, the whispers took flight, The dressing room murmured deep into the night. The harmony fractured, the spark lost its flame, The playoffs slipped by, and with them, his name.

Yet we sing, Vanni, of your glorious days, Of trophies and triumphs, and roaring displays. For though your temper could scorch and ignite, Your passion gave life to the stadium’s light.

Oh Sartini, whose journey we’ll long recall, A hero in cups, though short in the hall. May your fire burn bright on some distant shore, As Vancouver bids farewell to its passionate core.

Canadian Premier League

The CPL has been around for 7 years now. I am very glad it was established as it seems a critical piece for Canadian soccer players to have a chance of developing. After 7 years, do people think it is properly performing that function and resulting in players developing and advancing more than otherwise would have been the case?

Accessibility and Comfort of 300s Level Club Seats vs 200s Level at Whitecaps Games

Hey Everyone!

I’m considering tickets for an upcoming Whitecaps game and could really use some advice. I’m recovering from spine surgery and need seats that will allow me the flexibility to sit, cheer, and stretch as needed.

I’m torn between the 300s level club seats and the 200s level seating, but I’m not sure if the seats at the club level provide any significant difference in comfort. Here’s what matters most to me:

  • Seat width and comfort: How do the seats compare between these levels? Is one more spacious or ergonomic than the other?
  • Accessibility: Are the 300s level club seats easier to navigate, or would the 200s level be better for someone who might need to stretch or move around during the game?

If anyone has experience with either of these sections, I’d be super grateful for your insights! Thanks in advance for helping me make an informed decision so I can enjoy the game comfortably. 💙⚽

Go Caps!

Off Season suggestions

What do you all expect we should do in the post-season? (Signings, kit changes, roster changes, front office, etc.) For me, sack Vanni, Sign at least one DP, sell laborda, schopf, loan out Johnson.

End-of-season thoughts

This was such a weird season. It was probably the most inconsistent, up-and-down season I've ever experienced as a Whitecaps fan, and that's saying something considering that this team is known for their inconsistency. We started off strong, got to the top of the west after beating TFC 4-0, then went on a massive slump which included getting outplayed by an Inter Miami team without Messi, Suarez, and Busquets. Then we picked it up again during the summer, before going on that terrible run to end the season that forced us to play the wild card game against Portland. But then we thumped Portland 5-0 and went toe-to-toe with LAFC in the playoffs. It's frustrating because we all saw the potential this team has, but you literally never knew which Whitecaps team would show up on any given day. And it's still bizarre how we were so good away from home but so poor at BC Place. Anyways, here are my final thoughts:

Overall Season Rating: 7/10. Our best season to date, considering it's our first season where we've won Canadian Championship and multiple playoff games in the same year. But still too inconsistent.

MVP: Gauld. The best single-season that a Whitecaps player has ever had in our MLS history. Even better than Camilo's 2013 golden boot winning season. Regular season, Canadian Championship, Playoffs, he stepped up for us in every competition throughout the season. I honestly think we have a top 5 player in the league on our hands.

Best Young Player (23 and Under): Not many breakout stars this year, but probably Vite. Did well to adapt to a deeper role this year, and his midfield partnership with Armstrong and Cubas was so good in the playoffs.

Unsung Hero: Berhalter. What a beast he's developed into. He's a solid passer, can score outside the box, great work ethic, and amazing last-ditch tackles too. I'll never forget how he pocketed Bouanga, one of the best players in the league, during these playoffs. I think he's earned his spot as our starting right-back going into next season.

Most Improved: Also Berhalter

Vanni (In/Out): Tough call to make, sometimes he had us playing like one of the best teams in the league, yet other times we didn't even look like a playoff team. But I still think that a more experienced coach with better tactics can take us to the next level. Even in yesterday's game, it still surprises me how he brought on Laborda and Schopf when we desperately needed a goal to save our season. But it will be interesting to see what will happen to him during the offseason.

Priorities for next season:

  1. Sell Johnson and Kreilach, and bring in a quality backup striker for White who can provide competition for the starter job

  2. Sell Laborda, bring in a cheaper, better option who can be a backup for Veselinovic and Blackmon at CB

  3. Sell Schopf, replace him with a cheaper, better option who can be a backup CM

  4. If we can get a good offer for Takaoka, sell him, but if not, I'm ok with keeping him next season as the starting GK. Regardless though, we should be playing Boehmer more in order to give him more experience and Takaoka more rest.

So those are my thoughts. What do you all think?
