New Rule for more solves, more fun

Am I the first one to suggest that contestants ought to be rewarded for guessing the puzzle?

THE most exciting thing about the show today is when someone confidently gives a wrong answer. We laugh so heartily. I think any solve that is valid (fits the puzzle while using no letters that have been ruled out) should net the guesser $100 or $250 if it's incorrect. There would be more guesses, and I think that would be fun. To avoid using letters that have been ruled out people would start out confident and then revert to made-up words with all Zs and stuff. And this could swing some close games dramatically.

Archive of old Episodes?

I was on wheel of fortune in may 1992 for Disney World College Student week. I don’t have my tape anymore, but from info I found online the week was from May 11-15. My name is David/Dave and I ended up with I believe $6500. That’s all I can remember since it was 30 years ago, but if any of you know how I could obtain this, I would be eternally grateful. I’ve tried browsing Internet Archive, YouTube, Daily Motion, etc. but no luck.

Big Money Week/Episode 8000 Spoilers (May 20-24)

The upcoming Big Money Week, coinciding with episode #8000 (in terms of production number, not actual 8,000th episode, but close), was the second-to-last week with Pat Sajak in taping order, taped on April 4. These tapings were closed to the public, but the show invited 70 former contestants, myself included, to attend these tapings. Expect some great moments and now-rare shots of the audience this week!

For this week only, in honor of episode 8000, the top dollar wedge for Rounds 4 and up will be a gold $8000 wedge, and as a result, the $5000 wedge moves ahead to Round 3 with Express, rather than the usual $3500 being used for two rounds.

There is also a special Jackpot element for this week, very similar to the old Jackpot wedge used from 1996-2013. Each day, the Jackpot is awarded to the winning contestant if they win the Bonus Round, in addition to whatever is in their envelope. The Jackpot starts at $8,000 each day, and each spin that lands on something of value is added to the Jackpot (including $500 for the Wild Card and $1,000 for Mystery and Express), regardless of how often, if at all, the letter is in the puzzle. The Jackpot is capped at the end of Round 3; spins in Rounds 4+ and Final Spins do not count towards it. Like the old Jackpot, the amount is constantly shown on top of the screen during the board shots. Each episode's Jackpot will also be awarded to a home viewer in another "enter the Bonus Round puzzle online" sweepstakes.

There are also two Double Jackpot wedges on the Wheel in Rounds 1-3 sitting on the purple $500 wedges. There is no Prize Wedge for this week. These wedges work like the Million Dollar Wedge (but you don't have to land on only the middle of it), where if you pick one up, lock it in with a solve, don't lose it to Bankrupt, and win the game with it, the Jackpot will be doubled.

Both of the new wedges can be seen on this page of the WOF site: https://www.wheeloffortune.com/win/big-money-giveaway

Note that although one of the pics shows the Wild Card next to $8000, this is not the case during actual gameplay since the Wild Card gets removed after Round 3.

This week's Celebrity episode was so painful to watch

They came so close to getting buzzed out on all the Toss-Ups. Krysten Ritter blurted the answer in the Speed-Up round even though she could've earned money for the three Cs. And I knew "Fashionably Late" with just RSTLNE but the celeb said it was "impossible". It was so hard to watch them all struggle so much. Celeb shows aren't usually this bad.

The only saving grace was knowing the viewers get two chances at winning $10k and a vacay.

During the introductions Brian was pointing at his palm and Pat indicated he knew what that was about. What is it?

How do you play the extra games

I joined the wheel watchers club and I like to think I can figure things out but not this.

Has anyone had any success on the extra prize puzzles and can you explain how to play them? I’ve scoured the internet and still found nothing.

Re-auditioning advice?

Hey everyone! It’s been over 1 year since I had my first audition for the show, which means I can now re-audition. I first applied in January 2021, and heard back in April 2023 (yes, 2 years later). I got past the initial interview and went to puzzle solving. I did really well in the toss-ups (3/6, going up against 3 other contestants), and really solid in the bonus round (12/16 correct, including talking through some tricky ones).

I unfortunately never got the call, but I’m determined to get on one day! For those who re-auditioned and successfully got on, what’s your advice? Did you mention that you already auditioned? Did they have your name in a pool? I’m hoping that I have a better shot since I’ve already made it to an audition round once, but I just don’t know.

Fingers crossed!!

When did Maggie host the show?

On Wikipedia it says Maggie hosted a episode in 2019 but then also says 2020.

When Pat was ill in hospital I think it was.

Anyone know which episodes?

The Forbidden Letter (?)

Just stopping by because as an occasional Wheel of Fortune viewer I've come to notice during regular game rounds no one ever seems to pick the letter J. In the bonus round the letter is never offered or picked by the contestant. I don't even recall seeing any puzzle that contained any words with the letter J. Am I incorrect about this or what? Did Merv Griffin put some kind of rule in place about not using the letter J? Is it because his arch real estate developer nemesis Donald Trump's middle initial is J? What gives?

Where is he now?

I recently watched Season 1 episode 3 of WoF and I can’t stop thinking about one of the contestants.

Steven seemed so genuinely happy about winning his prizes, there were tears in his eyes! I need to know - where is he now? Did he enjoy his weekend trip to San Diego? Were the brass ducks everything he dreamed of? I hope he’s loving life!

Is the website purposely designed so poorly that you can’t enter the giveaways?

Every time I go to enter one I have to click a million links to get to the page where I fill out my info. I cannot find the margaritaville giveaway form anywhere after clicking through several of the links on the giveaway page.

Joel McHale > Ryan Seacrest

I don't know if he was in the running for Pat's replacement, but I think Joel McHale (Card Sharks) would have been a great pick...

Season 42 Changes (if any?)

As the end of the Pat Sajak era draws closer, I want to know what changes do you think the show will put out when Ryan Seacrest steps in?

I’m predicting there won’t be much if any at all, but I mainly would like to see a higher house minimum ($2,000 or $3,000) to cover those travel expenses, and more four digit amounts on the wheel.

Thoughts?

April 26 2024 episode

Wow. Just shocked at how much money Kate the contestant 'lost' tonight. Between the bankrupt when she had over 30 grand and not figuring out the final puzzle when it was 100 grand. Just a crazy episode tonight
