Post the contents of your fridge when you're running low on ingredients (and whatever else you've got to spice it up!) and others will help you figure out the best meals to cook without having to buy anything.

Nothing looks good in your fridge? Don't want to eat out or go grocery shopping? WhatTheFridge has got you covered!

Share the contents of your fridge/pantry and let Reddit handle tonight's dinner!

If you're making a request, please use a bullet point list of the ingredients you have and, when appropriate, indicate roughly how much of an ingredient you have.

Good Example:

  • Eggs (7)
  • Milk (a few cups left)
  • Flour (white, bleached, whole bag)

BAD Example:

I has sum milk flour n eggs, wut should I cook???

Avoid posting things that we could probably assume you have (such as salt, butter, or pasta). Otherwise, bring on the empty fridges and stomaches!

Use Flair to indicate your needs:

  • Request - NoBuy: You would like someone to take your fridge/pantry and make some meals with it. You're not heading out to the store - no way, no how!

  • Request - BuyOk: You've got some food that has been sitting around for a bit, you're going to the store and you'd like to pick up something small to turn it into a meal.

  • Request - Success: You had a request, someone gave you advice or you took your own initiative and it worked out pretty well. Post back with pics and/or recipes!

  • Idea: You've used random scraps in the past to make something delicious OR you want to brainstorm meals in the more general sense.

Consider tagging posts for extra clarity:

  • [BREAKFAST]: It's breakfast time and you're starved!

  • [LUNCH]: Packing it to work, taking it on campus or just need a quick nibble around noon.

  • [DINNER]: Supper time for you and yours or just something to chow on a little later in the day.

  • [SNACK]: Hungry! Right meow!

[promoting my website] I built a thing

So I've been building this hobby recipe website over the years, and at one point I built in a 'Fridge Mode' recipe search (possibly I drew inspiration from this subreddit, I don't recall). It does what you'd expect. Since we're all stuck at home with dwindling supplies, I thought some of you might appreciate it.

https://www.convergencemenu.com/fridgemode.xhtml

The recipes on it are mostly for bulk vegan/vegetarian dishes, but there's a bit of a mix by now.

There's of course much more to it than that (like, really a lot more - the project started as a catering app back in 2014 but whatever, I don't want to ramble). Um, yeah that's it.

Oh, and I'm really sorry if I'm breaking any forum rules. This is kinda promotional, but it's more about building the project than making money (while I do say I accept donations on the site, if you do actually want access to the fancy stuff and say you came from /r/WhatTheFridge, you'll get access for free).

Feedback and ideas welcome in comments. Stay healthy, home, and wash your hands. :)

Going out of town, trying to make do

I have stuff to make bean and cheese tacos - this is important because it uses cheese I could use for sandwiches.

I have barely eaten packs of sliced chicken bread and prosciutto that I don’t know what to do with. I don’t want them to go bad.

Should I buy bread? Or more cheese? Or should I freeze the leftover meat for when I get back? What can I make to use up those 2 ingredients??? I have pasta.

I don’t have eggs. I don’t have bread.

End of the month dinner ideas?

So I'm currently writing this as I'm washing dishes but my brother and I don't know what to make that isn't the same things everyday. What we have left is some pork longaniza, sliced bread, various cheeses, tortilla chips, frozen mixed vegetables bag, frozen broccoli bag, four tortillas, a head of lettuce, and cherry tomatoes. Some cucumbers a few tomatoes and 2 small red potatoes. I'm sorry if formatting is bad but I'm an awful cook and just found this sub. If anyone has any links to recepies or ideas to offer it would help a lot thanks.

On a tight budget until pay day

I've got a week and a half until pay day and several items I'm not sure what to do with.

A dozen eggs. A full package of bacon. Canned tomato soup. Milk (about a cup) Shredded cheddar cheese. Frozen mixed veggies (broccoli, carrots, peas, and corn). Canned chili. And cereal. Obv some of these are ready for meals like eggs and bacon but I'm not totally sure with the others. Help?

Revive

I’m all for this sub, but when I try to post it only gives the text option rather than a photo post option. Is there a wait period or are we gonna have to list everything in our fridge top to bottom

Just found this sub

Hey, came here from this comment, this is such a cool place! I've noticed it's nearly dead, but maybe we can fix that. So...

I constantly have leftover beef patties and hot dogs, but I never have any bread products. What can I use them for besides burgers/hot dogs?

I also usually have some bell peppers, ground beef, marinara sauce, and pasta noodles. Is there a good noodle dish I can make?

I don't need help with my food, but rather this sub

It appears that this sub has died.... Tis a pity. Everyone seems to be subbed still, so maybe this could be seen. This sub could really be great if we would all just post a bit more. I think it is a wonderful idea. We all have those days- forget to go grocery shopping, pays a bit late and can't afford to, or maybe you just want to try something new. Just post here. The few posts here have been well recieved. Just try and ask us next time... We'd love to help- right guys?

[Request - BUY OK] Big old knob of ginger

I needed fresh ginger for a recipe and I still have a lot left over. I'm trying to work harder on not wasting food, and I'm going grocery shopping in two days for the week. Already made a teriyaki turkey rice bowl and shrimp and noodle soup last night. One caveat: I have a three year old who may not be thrilled with a meal that is saturated with ginger flavor. Any ideas of something family friendly? Thanks!

Chicken and Chips Again!? [Request BuyOK]

Chicken (frozen southern fried grillsteaks) and Chips have been quite a staple for me for many years, since I was a student and even before then, to the extent that after all these years I'm starting to feel a little tired of the same old dinner, and I'm looking for ways to make it slightly more interesting rather than just drowning it in beans and bbq sauce.
Any help is much appreciated, by my taste buds alone!

Someone gave me a buttload of apples. What're some of your go-to recipes involving apples?

Hiya,

Someone gave me a buttload of apples fresh off the tree from an apple picking trip. It's less than a bushel but more than a peck so it's a buttload.

Does anyone have anything I could use them in? We've been adding them to sandwiches and just eating them outright of course, but if someone has a recipe (dessert or otherwise) I'd love to hear it.

We have some pork chops for supper later in the week, how can I incorporate them?

I have a pie recipe already so anything else is appreciated :)

(buyok) this sub seems dead but I may as well ask- anything I can make out of this stuff?

I have bacon, eggs, hamburger buns, tons of random herbs and spices, ramen noodles, chicken broth, tomato soup, tortilla chips, soy sauce, very mild salsa, potatoes, one slice of american cheese, pretzels and pork chops along with the normal stuff like milk and flour and stuff. I'm sick of eating nothing but bacon eggs and toast for most of my meals so if you have any interesting ideas please let me know!
