Plataues Suck...

I posted a while ago about Protein advice and the help was incredible.... but after dropping 7 kilos I've been stuck at 95.6 kilos for the past 3 weeks.... And it's HORRIBLE for my mental health. I haven't stopped working out or changing my diet or slipping back into old habits. Heck I've increased my exercise... nothing is working. So now I'm questioning what's the point I'll never reach my goal it was all water weight after all. All research I've done is telling me that it's my body realising I've lost weight and actively trying to stop it....

Does anyone have any advice on how to push through a plataue ????

13 pounds gain in 3 Months

I'm 17(f) and back in September I weight 106 pounds, I recently weighed myself and I'm 119 pounds almost 120. I've been told I'm underweight but I've noticed a considerable weight gain in my stomach, pants don't fit right, etc. I'm worried if this weight gain continues it'll become unhealthy. Any tips on how to keep this weight at a healthy level? I'd like to get into dieting and eating proper foods :))

Suggestions to help a friend with weight loss

Hey weight loss community!

Coming to you looking for advice to help and motivate a best friend on their weight loss and healthy lifestyle journey.

Background: I (33F) and BFF (34F) met playing college soccer. We were both in decent shape given our age, lifestyle and fitness/health structure built in to playing a college sport. When we graduated, we coped with staying healthy without a built it structure in different ways. It took me a few years but I eventually realized I had to now manage this myself and got really into running, a few other sports, and healthy eating. BFF didn’t make any adjustments, and while the first few years post college she was able to maintain a very social / party lifestyle without seeing a huge health decrease, at 27 everything really started to catch up with her and she has potentially doubled her weight since college. As you can imagine the impact to her confidence, energy and lifestyle have taken a hit as a result.

Where I come in: I obviously love and want the best for her, so her health is important to me but it’s starting to take a more mental and emotional toll on her as well. She now brings this up most times we talk. It’s a pain she lets very few people see, but every time shes asked to be a bridesmaid (the dresses), goes on vacation, is down about being single, etc she is incredibly sad and self hating about her weight and doesn’t know what to do about it. It’s not just body image, she has notably less energy than everyone else our age (unless we’re going out) is limited in some of the physical activities she can do, and had to have an emergency procedure recently in her abdomen that was related to being overweight.

I am very empathetic to how hard it must be to start getting her health back at this point. While she says she wants to change this over and over I’ve never seen her take any steps despite it being the biggest source of frustration in her life.

In my view, the key factors here are sedentary lifestyle, zero exercise, eating/ordering out most days, high calorie alcohols most days.

Any suggestions on how to help her get started without over stepping and still maintaining our friendship? For those of you that have had a weight loss buddy/coach, what worked? I also recognize the motivation has to come from her for it to last, so any tips there appreciated!

Thank you all!

I’m worried I’ll never be normal

I’m 17 and I’ve been very overweight for my entire life, even becoming obese since 2020 and to be honest I’m scared it will always be like this. I probably have insulin resistance or something like that since I’ve only been able to keep my weight under control when I stopped eating carbs almost entirely (and in my country it’s insanely difficult) and even then I was still somewhat overweight. I have started going to a dietitian since May and I have lost 9.5kg (around 21lbs) in total, but I haven't been losing anything since september/october and I'm very discouraged. What if things never change? I don’t want to be fat, stuck on a strict diet or both for my entire life.

Easier getting back into shape?

Is it easier to get BACK into shape, after a long hiatus? I (25F) was in great shape for most of my life due to sports, I stopped working out when i turned about 22 due to various reasons and now I am restarting again. While I haven’t necessarily gained tooooo much numerical weight, i have certainly replaced most of my muscle with fat at this point and need to drop some pounds/tone up. Just curious if anyone has found it any easier to get back into shape/lose weight after a longggg break

How to cook healthy/ vegetables when no motivation?

Want to learn to cook more but I have been having a sweets/ junk food addiction, especially snacking at night. I want to eat more vegetables I prefer them cooked than raw because I’m not as used to it but sometimes by the time I’m hungry I get too lazy to prep veggies to eat, any tips? I want to eat healthy and look weight but need to work on this, maybe what might help is to cook in large batches and then eat leftovers for veggies and healthy food until I cook again.

Losing weight as a college student… any tips?

It’s December now, meaning that finals are up ahead. I’ll probably dedicate these next two weeks to studying and trying to get a good grade on these exams which bring me to ask this question: what are some healthy ways to lose weight while trying to combat all of the stress? I’m 19F and weigh approximately 180lbs… my goal is to reach 160lbs. I don’t think I look “fat” per se but I’ve definitely noticed some fat on my face and it’s making me self conscious. It’s gotten to the point where sometimes I don’t want to go out bc I hate the way that I look. This is the heaviest I’ve ever been and it’s embarrassing. Would you all consider this as being obese or just overweight? Genuinely curious🤔 I’ve always stayed at the 160 range but for some reason, ever since starting college I’ve been gaining all of this weight. If any of you are in college or have any advice for this college student, plz do help🙂‍↕️ I’m all ears

Weight loss research - help wanted

I’m currently a doctorate psychology student and I am hoping to look at some research about what traits lead to successful/unsuccessful weight loss.

As part of this research I would be hoping to ask people if they have dieted over the past 3 years, and if so, what their starting weight, lowest weight and current weight are, as well as what the diet entailed and some measures of different traits such as self-compassion and self-efficacy. I am wondering what people’s thoughts are about this? Would you be open to participating in this sort of research? Do you remember diets over the past 3 years?

I am really open to feedback about this potential research project so please do let me know your thoughts.

Thank you!

Question about calories counting

If I have to eat, e.g., 1200 calories a day, and I eat 2400 one day and 0 the other, the third day would it be as if I had eaten 1200 each day?

Weight loss without counting calories?

I'm not obese, I just want to lose a few kgs and tone up a bit. Despite knowing that a calorie deficit is the most important thing in weight loss, I've made some bad experiences with calorie counting, for example the 'all or nothing mindset' and severe overeating. All that resulted in a JoJo effect over the past year. So is it possible to lose weight with healthy meals, less snacking, strength training and cardio without watching the exact calories?

Advice on plateau situation and searching for a weight loss buddy

Hi, I (F25) started my weight loss journey about one and a half years ago with a weight of 257lbs (117kg). Now I‘m down to 189 (86kg) and I‘m trying to loose another ~30lbs. I‘m kind of on a plateau and right now and find less time for working out because of my studies and some trouble in my family. Do you have any advice on how to continue loosing weight despite the harder conditions I‘m currently facing?

I would also love to find a friend on here who also is on a weight loss journey. I think supporting each other and talking about wins and fails could help a lot. Feel free to dm me if you want to.

Should I follow my mum's advice or continue to stick to losing weight?

Im 17M, and I started losing weight back in July. I was 112.8kg (248lbs) and lost some weight by going on a deficit, eating 1500cals every day.

Now it's December, and I'm 88.7kg (195lbs), with my original goal being to be under 85kg (187lbs).

I'm nearly there, but my mum's getting worried and I should "pause" my progress because i apparently lost too much in such a short time. I was even planning of going even further to a more healthy 70-75kg. (154-165 lbs).

Any advice on this?

Teen Weight Loss Journey: Need Help Losing 15 kg!

I’m a 17-year-old male (M17), 171 cm tall, and currently weigh 90 kg. My goal is to lose 15 kg and reach 75 kg within 12–18 weeks.

What I’m Doing Now:

•	Exercise Routine:
•	Gym: Push-pull-legs routine, 5–6 days a week.
•	Walking: 60 minutes, 4–5 times a week.
•	Diet:
•	I’ve calculated my TDEE at around 1940 kcal × 1.4 (activity multiplier).
•	I aim for a ~500 kcal deficit daily.

My Challenges:

•	Struggling to stay consistent with my diet.
•	It’s hard to stick to routines, and even when I lose some weight, I tend to gain it back during breaks due to my lifestyle.
•	Not sure if my workout routine is optimized for fat loss.
•	Dealing with cravings and low energy during workouts.

What I Need Help With:

•	How can I build sustainable habits to avoid regaining weight during breaks?
•	Advice on meal plans or simple recipes for weight loss.
•	Tips to manage cravings and avoid binge eating.
•	Feedback on my current routine—am I doing enough?

Thanks in advance for your help! I’d really appreciate any advice on how to make lasting changes to my lifestyle.

is it possible to lose 25kg (50lbs) from now by august?

im 178cm (5'10'' i think) and 106kg (232lbs i think) https://www.reddit.com/r/Brogress/comments/hh1rjf/m33510_232_lbs_to_189_lbs_11_months/ i look approx the same as the guy in this post in terms of physique

this is not some new years resolution "oh i will lose weight and make the dream body" i NEED to lose as much as i can of those 25kg by 1st august and is it even possible to lose that much

context:
i had 90kg at 2020, i went down to 85kg and then i went up to 100kg due to a huge depressive episode i had back in 2022. those 6 are me eating more than i should after that
online friends of mine are pulling up by august 1st and i REALLY do not want them to see me like this with moobs and these love handles wider than taller, and uhh lets just say me and one of them have uhh developed feelings for each other and she is unaware of the fact im still obese as HELL and if i cant lose all 25 by then at least i hope to lose as much as i possibly can

any advice is needed and recommendations on what i should do about this if i can do much about it at all

I’m tired of being 220 lbs

Last year I was 256 lbs and got down to 220 lbs this year. I’m mad at myself because I could’ve been at 200 lbs but I haven’t been disciplined enough. These 20 lbs have been so hard to lose. I love weight lifting and have gained significant muscle.

I’m putting this out there for accountability that I will stay consistent in my diet and workout routine.

SW: 256 CW: 220 GW: 200lbs then hopefully around 170 lbs

I’m 5’4 male and 28 years old

Breast size

Hi,this is my first time posting here so i apologize for grammar issues.

Anyway,I have around 64-65kg and i am 171cm ,my BMI says i am in a healthy zone. Recently I have been trying to lose weight, and i am scared that my breasts will shrink. I love their size and i don't want them to be smaller or bigger. I am not trying to have some huge weight loss journey, just a few kilos. Will that shrink my breasts?

The same old question

How do I lose weight? The thing is, I (19yo F) was a really active athlete about a year ago and after quiting the sport I gained some weight (I wasnt the leaniest person even when I was an athlete). After quiting Im still active, I walk a normal amount of steps per day, I hit the gym, I have a normal diet (I eat junk, but not often, I dont drink sodas daily, etc) and even with calorie deficit I still struggle to lose weight. What am I doing wrong? Of course i feel unmotivated now because its really hard to not see the results I expect

What to make of my weight loss

I'm trying to cut down from 173 down to 16ish for a cur phase. I am 5'11 male. I work active job averaging 12000-20000 steps a day plus lifting and breaking down pallets. I also lift 4 days a week.

I set my calories around 2400 for a slow cut but my weight fluctuates so much. Some days it gets to 175 and last week it got as low as 170. It's been a month and it's very hard to determine if it's working or now.

Also I weight myself every morning at the same time.
