Anyone interested in a Tech Idea in the Cannabis Space

I have an idea that i’m hoping would optimize the cannabis industry in states that require a seed-to-sale. Most states have chosen metrc as their seed-to-sale of choice through their RFPs, but if anyone is familiar with the system, it ain’t that great. If anyone is interested in chatting about a one stop shop solution, able to satisfy the state regulators’ requirements while also satisfying each licensee type’s ability to build a workflow. No more dual entry! Lemme know!

Business idea validation help needed (serious)

Hi all, I am a licensed retail operator on the east coast (USA) and my biz partner( whom is an attorney) and I are considering getting into cannabis consulting to help others obtain licenses.

Is this a service you would be interested in? If so at what price point do you think a serious applicant be willing to pay?

If this aspect of the business is not something helpful is there any aspect of the opening process you wish you had help with? We have experience from applications to opening so we would be happy to help with any step along the way.

All thoughts welcomed and appreciated.

Packaging Suggestions mylar pet glass?

Looking for packaging solutions for a boutique brand. Currently using blank mylars with stickers which I am not a fan of at all.

I looked into getting custom mylars done from various suppliers but the minimums are way too high for what we are trying to do, (5k+ per size per design), even from most Chinese suppliers. Also just feel like mylars are tacky and low quality and have to much association with snicklefritz weed.

I looked into Grove bags, but minimums are still too high for what we are doing.

I am partial to glass, but I am having a hard time finding a good glass distributor. I am based in San Diego, most manufacturers are far away, most won't insure the shipment and the cost of shipping nearly 1/3-doubles the cost depending on the business.

Recently I have been looking into PET as an alternative, as my understanding is it has an oxygen barrier similar to glass, doesn't look as tacky as mylar and it makes it easy for us to simply make new stickers for new & custom designs and drops. I had a hard time finding info, but from my understanding it doesn't leach into flower the way plastic does.

We don't have flagship strains and are constantly dropping new varieties so doing 1000s of strain specific bags doesn't make as much sense as doing 200-500 custom stickers for jars or PET.

From my understanding, cost runs about $3-5/e for glass jars up to 1oz size unless you're buying thousands ar once.

Mylars $.50-3 depending on quality, design, etc

And PET $1-3

Alternatives or suggestions & experiences would be appreciated!

Next Moves After Two Years

I make edibles for a multi-state operation. I've been working in the manufacturing side of the business for two years. I've been promoted a couple times, and there's a supervisory role in my future if things go as planned.

I have an Associates in business administration (marketing intensive). I was an analyst at an Inc 5000 internet marketing firm for years. I've also worked as a machinist. Yes, I was FORKLIFT CERTIFIED! ;)

I'm a little older, but still decades before I retire. I'm as comfortable at a desk as I am in the shop. What should be on my radar?

What's everyone doing for camera backup power?

I'm seeing some pretty egregious requirements for seamlessly running cameras during a power outage... 4 hours in MA, 8 hours in NY for example. This far exceeds the battery capacity of industry standard UPS devices... by a lot. A 200lb UPS and 5 200lb add-on batteries still might not be enough by the time you factor in NVRs, PoE switches, and internet connectivity.

Are they just saying a standby generator is required without saying it? Any creative solutions or purposefully-designed products you care to share? I can understand long video retention requirements (60/90 days, despite that storage being costly, too) but this standby power just seems unattainable... Thanks for any input.

Cultivation profit share -- how do they work?

I'm looking at an opportunity with a small spot to run cultivation, smaller than where I'm at now so likely a lot less money on a paycheck to paycheck to basis. I'm thinking if the offer comes in low I'd like to propose a revenue share and bet on myself a little because I see some spots in the operation where I can probably add extra value.

I'm just kind of unsure of what to ask for, what is usually standard for this kind of work. Straight percentage of net, escalations based on yearly performance? Are there any kind of revenue shares you made work vs looking back maybe not a good idea?

Label printers

Anyone have any recommendations for printer to make labels for your product jars and what not? Or is everyone just ordering them from a company. It would be nice to make to strain labels on the fly or be able to rebrand on the fly.

Im interested in starting a cannabis business and I want to apply specifically for the Processor Type 3 Brand license which allows you to brand and sell cannabis products to dispensaries. Is it possible to freelance code?

I've worked for 5 years for 3 different cannabis oriented companies. One a product manufacturer and two software providers.

Having recently been unemployed, I want to freelance consult in cannabis in order to make money.
I offer workflow automation, which entails automating tasks in areas such as reporting, data analysis, accounting and compliance.

I have an email list of every cannabis company registered in my state. I am very strongly contemplating sending a mass email to each company offering my services.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom on experience freelance coding in this industry?
Am I better off just emailing these companies asking for a job rather than asking for their business?

You guys have any first hand experience?

Sitemap Blaze Ecom (SEO)

Client recently integrated Blaze Ecom to the Squarespace website and switched over our DNS records from Squarespace to Typher.

There was an issue with our sitemap that they were able to resolve. See image here

However they created the sitemap without the www and Google Search Console isn't able to fetch it. See image here

Not sure what to do from here. I know it's preferred for your URLs to be the same for SEO purposes

Detroit Michigan Dispensary FS

Looking for some insight on the Michigan market and regulations for dispensaries. My friends dad is selling his dispensary that comes with owned property not leased and is supposedly doing 6k a day.

If I did owner finance and 25% down how bad is the Michigan market right now?

What would be a solid offering price?

What do I do with this?

Greetings everyone, getting into this space with some friends and now wondering if it's now even worth pursuing a business in this space. They already have equipment on hand that have yet to been put to use. Would love feedback on what kind of runs you would/could do with this. Opinions welcome.

RFID METRC

I’m wondering if anybody knows what’s the cheapest and most reliable RFID scanner that can integrated with metrc, and if anybody knows if the android is needed or iPhone

Trying to simplify things in the garden instead of doing manual audits It’s better to wave around a device.

THC Insurance for bars/restaurants (on-premise consumption)

Hey all! New to this community, but I’m hoping someone in here can help me out.

I live in Iowa where weed is still illegal, but hemp products under 0.3% THC are legal. The company I work for has begun to distribute THC beverages to retailers and other wholesalers, and we have many bars/restaurants that want to serve product on-premise.

The issue we are having is finding anyone who offers a policy that will cover liability for on-premise THC consumption.

If anyone here is a business owner who has a policy like this, or if anyone has some insight on how I might effectively search for these services online - I would love to hear from you!

TIA ❤️

Educate me on extracts

Okay okay so long story short , I got a job at a dispensary and I need help knowing the differences of all these “cannabis extracts” and what to say to customers. Don’t ask how I got the job when I don’t know this shit, tbh idk either but please help me with describing all these different terms. Idk what how I would describe hash or solvent vs solventless, live resin vs live rosin. Just help me describes these in order for customers to understand what any of this means (including me) and how it differentiates from other extracts. Thanks.
