Wondering if anyone has gotten a quote from the Royalton in 2024? Waiting to hear back from the venue, wondering what the other costs of the venue are.
First time poster here!
My wedding is in 2025 and I'm looking for a DJ that is familiar with East Asian music (everything from kpop to cantopop and mandopop). DJ doesn't need to have MC services, mainly want someone to handle the music for the event. Would love any recommendations!
**forgot to add location. Wedding is in Newmarket. I assume any DJ from GTA may be willing to travel. Thanks!
Do inexpensive but great florists even exist in the GTA/Ontario area?
I don't understand how florists are okay with charging their clients $4000+ for a a few flower arrangements. Clearly flowers don't cost this much?
Are vendors still Covid gouging?
Looking for an experienced Wedding photographer who is affordable and available to work end of November 2024 in southwestern Ontario K/W area.
Need to be very experienced, have higher end cameras, lenses, flash, and be affordable. Good editing skills and experienced is a must.
Also need recommendations for Videography.
I’m getting married in 2025, and I’ve already asked my best friends to be my bridesmaids and they all said yes. I’m curious though, who usually pays for the bridesmaid dresses? The bride or the bridesmaids? I’d like to hear both sides! And I would also love to hear some suggestions for stores where you ordered the bridesmaids dresses from. I’m located in Alberta and hoping for $200 or less per dress. I’ve already checked out Azazie and Park & Fifth.
Hello Quebec Wedditors!
My fiancé and I are set to be wed in Montreal next May, and I am preparing our civil ceremony script. My aunt will officiate so we are building the script from scratch.
I was reading every page related to marriage on the government website, and then the Officiant guide, and I now have a question that I hope some who have experienced this might be able to shed light on.
In the guide, it states that the officiant must (1) read certain articles from the Civil Code of Québec, (2) then ask each spouse to consent to the marriage (3) and finally, declare them to be married. After this, the officiant, couple, and 2 witnesses sign the Declaration of Marriage.
On a relevant note, when reading the appendixes containing examples of this process, they sneak in the exchange of rings between steps 2 and 3 such that it goes as follows: (1) read the articles in the Code, (2) ask the spouses to consent (I dos), (3) exchange rings, (4) declare the couple wed, and (5) sign the paperwork at the end of the ceremony.
With all this being said, does the officiant HAVE to declare the couple wed before the signing of documents for the marriage to be legal? It's a bit blurry because the guide also states that there is no mandatory formulation for the section on the exchange of consent, so I don't know if it also means that there is leeway in the order of events. In my mind, declaring the couple to be married creates that "Ahh!" moment right before saying "You may now seal this with a kiss". It feels more natural to go from the symbolic exchange of rings, on to the formal signature of the declaration of marriage, and finally end with the pronunciation of marriage followed by the kiss which effectively ends the ceremony.
Also, the guide states: "The officiant may then address the new spouses: 'You are now legally married. Allow me, on my own behalf and on behalf of all those present, to offer you our best wishes for your happiness.'" Wouldn't we only be legally married after we have signed the documents?
Anyway, this is a long post so thank you for anyone reading until the end. I'd be happy to hear any and all experiences some may have had regarding this. I may also cross-post on the Quebec subreddit.
HELP! My Fiancé and I are in a long distance relationship and are looking for wedding/receptions venues in the greater GTA area. We are south Asian and are anticipating approximately 300 guests. I am from New York she is from Ontario so open to all types of suggestions. We want something convenient for our guests (Hotel venues / easily accessible). Open to all prices at the moment.
Our preferred date is a New Year’s Eve for 2025 into 2026 but are open to other dates if the venue is right.
I'm just trying to set up the budget but I don't know if I need to plan for one or two.
Hi! I am looking for suggestions for a wedding photographer in Southern Ontario who shoots in a more photojournalistic/documentary style, with a "romantic" or cinematic feel to their photos. My budget isn't great (2.5-3k pre-HST for 6 hours) so I understand this may be a fruitless search, but I would love to hear any recommendations.
My fiancé and I are wanting to elope/ have a wedding of under 20 guest in Canada. We aren’t picky on the location, just looking for waterfront and high chance of snow. Not sure where to start as we live in GA, all advice welcome 😊
Would you be disappointed if you went to a wedding with two passed canapé options during cocktail hour, one appetizer option, two main dinner options (1 veg and 1 protein), and one dessert, plus a late night station?
We are considering a venue like this that is otherwise really lovely, but I’m concerned it’s not enough choice and the pp price is already $195. This is in the GTHA. We plan to visit them soon and I will ask about more choices, but I worry that will increase the price. TIA!
As the title says, I’m looking to connect with a luxury travel agent to help plan our honeymoon for either October or November 2025. We are interested in French Polynesia or the Maldives. We live in Nova Scotia, but would be open to working with a TA elsewhere in the country.
We had reached out to Alexandrou Travel (out of Toronto) back in the summer, but I haven’t heard back after our initial phone call, despite a couple of follow up emails. I think it would be less stressful if we could find someone who is more on top of communications.
I hope this doesn’t break any rules. I checked the pinned vendor post but didn’t see anything related to travel agents.
Thanks in advance!
Hey friends, we have a winter wedding at Spencer’s in Burlington. The ceremony starts at 4:30 and they are not very flexible on the timeline. I would prefer to arrive there at 3pm for a first look, but they asked not to come until 4 since the space will not be ready yet. How would you recommend scheduling the day to ensure we get good pics? Obviously first look.. but where? Book a hotel just for that? Or a studio? If the weather is good we would do it outside but what if it is raining or slushy show?
Hi everyone! I’m having a Sunday wedding so naturally I know that not everyone will be staying late (assuming everyone will leave around 11pm)
Is it worth it to get late night stations or save that cost, considering people will not be staying late.
Is this the new norm? Dresses are thousands of dollars and they are asking for a tip!
Is this expected? If so, how much? Day after day I am realizing that everything wedding related just seems to be such a money grab.
Hi guys! Has anyone used Toronto Bulk Flowers, Costco flowers or Flowers Direct.com for their wedding? I'm considering getting my flowers from there for bud vases, but saw some mixed reviews. If anyone has had any experience please share.
What was your experience and how was the food!
We just had our wedding on October 12, 2024 and had a wonderful day. I just wanted to share some recommendations as our vendors helped make our day a huge success. Feel free to DM me if you'd like any details or ideas of budget!
Wedding Website - Withjoy.com for the Save the Dates, Invitations and RSVP. Excellent experience that our guests really appreciated. Even sent out an email from the site the day after with the Photobooth photos and reminding people to upload their photos to Guestpix.
Guest photo and video upload - Guestpix. Guests were happy with the experience, and the videos and photos were available in good quality and had ample time to share their photos. They provide QR codes that are easy to incorporate into your centerpieces.
Venue - Sarto-Desnoyers Community Center in Dorval, halls A and B. The staff was lovely and the hall is beautiful with lots of light and a veranda. They changed the rules of how late you can be on site since we had booked, and how long in advance non-residents of Dorval can reserve but overall highly recommend the venue.
Dress - La Jolie Robe. 11/10 experience here. The staff was incredible and really respectful of budget. Helped me find my dream dress in an hour.
Dress adjustments - "all your sewing needs" in Pointe-Claire. Very sweet lady does her adjustments in her basement and does an amazing job.
Photos - Studio S Photography - beautiful photos coming back and very reasonably priced for getting 2 photographers.
Photobooth - MrMontreal Photobooth- lovely people who made the Photobooth so fun and were so pleasant to deal with in setup time. Really a good pick in a sea of overaggressive (which this vendor was not!) vendors in this market!
Caterer - Chef Tanya Jackson - a hidden gem. The food was incredible and we got so many rave reviews after from our guests
Waitors and bartending staff - HospitalityMTL - Caitlin and her team were incredible! Highly recommend! All our guests were amazed that we found and hired them seperately to the caterers as they made one awesome and cohesive team.
Dish and glassware rentals - Diva Locations - good experience renting all the dishes dishes
Speaker Rental - Conceptdel - really friendly staff that explained well how to set everything up and very reasonably priced for everything we needed
Hi everyone!
I’m considering having my wedding at Harding Waterfront Estate and would love to hear from anyone who has hosted their event there. I’ve heard that compared to other venues in the GTA, the price is relatively reasonable. However, one thing that really bothers me is the floor—I would want to cover all of it, and the space can feel quite bare, which might require a significant investment in decor.
How much did you end up spending on decor, and did you find it necessary to rent a lot of items? Eg, their chairs aren't the nicest either.
Additionally, I’d love to hear about your experiences with the food and the overall planning process. Were the planners helpful and accommodating?
Any insights or tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Looking for a wedding cake vendor. Any recommendations? Wedding will be in Toronto.
I am open to flavours, but would love something that’s a bit more moist than the pound cake. I was thinking maybe tres leches if possible.
Aside from the flavour I am also looking for a vendor that offers more minimalist or whimsical designs like this.
I’ve been engaged since April 2024 and have been trying to find a venue for months with no luck. I’ve never really had a strong vision for my wedding day so don’t even know where to begin. Only thing I know is I don’t want to have it in a banquet, would prefer more of an outdoor scenic vibe. I already feel overwhelmed and the more I research the more lost I feel! I’ve decided a full planner is worth the extra money, does anyone have any recommendations in Toronto for planners?
Also, does a wedding planner just help spend the money or do they actually negotiate with vendors and try to cut costs where necessary on your behalf.? We’re looking for a 2025/2026 date for 120 guests in Toronto and would love to keep the budget under 80k if that’s even realistic! Thanks!!
Here you can ask general questions, and discuss all parts of the wedding planning process. Feel free to vent!

Planning a backyard wedding just looking to gain any tips from previous brides. For reference the wedding is in ontario in July on my property ( we own a farm).
Hi everyone, I'm having an incredibly low budget Wedding in April (think like an engagement party but with a ceremony), so I'm going to be doing my own hair and makeup.
Do you guys have any tips on products that you swear by?? I'm thinking black Friday is coming up and it might be the perfect time to get them. Tips on where to get affordable but comfortable shoes and a short wedding dress are also appreciated.
While researching venues I had a lot of trouble gathering cost breakdowns for different venues. I want to share what we paid for our wedding at Eglinton Grand in September 2024. The wedding was on a Friday night so it had promotional pricing of $100/person for meals and drinks. The per person prices below include a $5/adult bar package upgrade (well worth it) and the mandatory 20% gratuity.
Venue:
Adults 104
Children 4
Youth 3
Vendors 5
Per Adult $126.00
Per Child (under 12) $72.00
Per Youth $108.00
Per Vendor $83.94
Ceremony Room Rental $2,500.00
Projector Upgrade $500.00
Technician Fee $300.00
Additional Tech Fee $50.00
Dancing Music Fee $266.21
Tax 13%
Total $20,059.66
Other major expenses were for the DJ, photographer, illustrator, coordinator, dress, tailoring, suit, floral, decorations and dance lessons. For us, those items added up to around $12k. We went very light on floral and decorations since the space itself is quite nice.
Anyways, I hope this is helpful to someone else. I think this whole process would be a lot easier if venues were more transparent about the costs.
Anyone have any experience with Kaneff weddings? Specifically at the Carlisle, Royal Niagara, or Century Pines Golf Clubs? Any notes on the buffet food or the event coordination in general?
The package and venue seemed nice from the tour but none of the online reviews mention weddings at all so want to make sure we know what we'd be signing up for.
What types of things were you able to negotiate down? Any tips?
Hi friends, coming back on here saying that I am available for the rest of the year and now am taking bookings for 2025/26 for weddings in Niagara, GTA and everywhere in between! Full disclosure, I am mainly a portrait photographer, but if you choose me, then I promise to capture your beautiful moments at a decent price that doesn’t break the bank.
If you’re interested, let me know! I’m not sure if I’m allowed to post my website here but if you are interested please send me a message!
Thanks!
ISO a bridal shower location that also does not look like a conference hall. Most banquet halls in the GTA are outdated with patterned carpets and are very dark. I want something with some natural light. I have looked into some restaurants like Nodo (Toronto), but these places are way outside of my budget...Over 100$ per person plus extra fees. Does anyone have any recommendations of newly renovated banquet halls, restaurants or spaces for bridal showers with good food? I looked into a few banquet hall lobby's and this seems like my best option as I have found some around 75$/pp. My guest count is roughly 100 people (I know I have a big family and can't seem to cut down my list) Thanks in advance!
