Lurcher outside Ardkeen Stores.

There is a golden coloured lurcher hanging around outside ardkeen stores, poor thing is very thin. I bought him some food. The same dog has been hanging around outside tesco ardkeen. My heart is broken over it. It's so cold out these nights, and he's so skinny. I left a voicemail and sent a text to animal welfare. What else can I do? Does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone else see the dog recently?

Thank You Everyone!

Just wanted to thank everyone here for the support! While the hope was for a higher result, I'm really glad to have come 11th of 15 candidates with 798 votes after transfers (doubling the result in the locals). It was always gonna be an uphill battle as a first-time independent candidate running against well-known candidates backed by powerful parties!

None of it would have been possible without the help of many people here and on other social media, and those who donated and helped out in 100 other ways.

Glenville Christmas Trees

By Circle K on the Dunmore Road, best in town by far and brilliant service would highly recommend!

Fruit & Veg stall in John Roberts Sq gone?

Haven't seen the guys that sell the Fruit & Veg in Red/JR Square in a long time. They're normally there on a Saturday. Anyone know what's happened to them?

What was that plane going around in a flowing scout pattern from about 1,000 feet and even less last night for over an hour?

1,000 feet max (probably 500 feet). Extra-quiet plane.

I've never seen a plane doing this in the dark around here. Struck me as unusual. It was smallish, but a wider wingspan than a Cessna, for example. The two wings as one were maybe ice-lolly stick shaped (military?), and there seemed like a lot of lights on the plane? Anyone else see it?

Does anyone know where plane flight records are recorded for this country and city? Someone knowledgeable on this matter could be able to find out the kind of plane this was through these records.

The plane was doing the rounds from at least half-five in the evening (in full dark) until at least after 7 pm when I stopped looking.

Mystery solved by /u/myheartxfglass 👏

Greens wiped out , Marc O Cathasaigh unrepentant

Like most people I care about the environment but I have always found the attitude of the Green Party off putting.

O Cathasaigh today was unrepentant saying that he stood by his decision in relation to the airport.

Whether you agree with the airport or not I find their attitude baffling . Basically looking down their noses at everyone else thinking they know best.

Goodbye Matt

As a politician it is good riddance. He was quite happy to vote with the government on every vote which not screwed Waterford but the people of this country. And after the last few days stunts and lack of apology it showed a right aggorance.

SF 2, FG 1, FF 1. We'll have two TDs in governing parties regardless of which parties form it

Welcome Conor McGuiness and farewell Matt Shanahan, Mary Roche got 5000 votes on her first attempt for Soc Dems, Aontú were the best of the rest.

If it's a FF/FG+ coalition we better see some quick promotion for Cummins and him deliver in the next 4 years.

Who decides what polling station you vote in?

I live near the hospital but had to go to the Sacred Heart centre near the Folly to vote. Yesterday I found out that there was a polling station in Farranshoneen I could have walked to. Apart from this being bad organisation, surely they should be encouraging voting by making it as accessible as possible?

Mechanic

Does someone know a good reliable mechanic? Had my VW in for a Turbo change yesterday. Car was ready up until today was great. Went out to Kilkenny and on the way back I've got an EPC light showing up, had moment's when the car wouldn't speed properly and there's a rattling noise as well.

The Mechanic who installed it it's now apparently on Holiday..

Any info it's greatly appreciated. Thank you

Democracy in action at he count centre in SETU

I'm at the count centre watching democracy in action - you only love to see it!

The unofficial tally is taking place while they sort the ballots into stacks, with the first official count starting in a few hours. The tally is just a quick marking of number 1s by members of various parties working together while the votes are quickly sorted. It is just based on a quick glance so isn't fully accurate, but can give a good enough indication of trends!

For anyone curious to know how our Single Transferable Vote - Proportional Representation (STV-PR) electoral system works, this is a handy video: Politics in the Animal Kingdom: Single Transferable Vote - CPG Grey

The live unofficial tally is available here: Tally Spreadsheet

Thanks to everyone who gave me a preference yesterday and to those who supported me over the past few weeks and months! 😊

Golden Discs screwing over local artists

Popped in there today and I noticed that the tiny little section that they had for local artists has been replaced with some other shite in the run-up to Christmas. They may have moved it somewhere else in the store, but I didn't bother hanging around long enough to find out.

I get that shelf space is like prime real estate, but Irish artists need to make a few bob over Christmas too.

Election predictions

92% of first preferences counted going by the tally, and so far it looks like we’ll have 2 SF, 1 FF and 1 FG.

Mark looks to be out, Matt is on shaky ground too (he definitely could have done without that gaff at the hospital)

Do you think this is how it will land? Will SF be able to form a government?

Either way, we could have two government TDs. Will we get a junior, super junior or full minister?

Late night/early morning taxis

Hello everyone, I'm 99% sure I'll be okay but want to double-check as I get paranoid about missing flights. I'll be on the Waterford -> Dublin airport bus at 01:30am on Tuesday. I've mostly used Freenow for taxis, will there be any issue at all getting one from Lisduggan to town around that kind of time if I just order it then? Or is it better to pre-book?

EDIT: Thanks for all the responses, I usually play it safe with timing but I'll play it super extra safe this time.

No Heat As A Renter (Waterford,Mi)

Yo.

Would anyone be able to help me find as a renter the landlord is supposed to provide a habititable temperature to live in?

I just recently moved into and signed a lease for a small building owned by a landlord that manages multiple properties. We discovered shortly after me moving here a breaker switch that controls the thermostat is broken. I have no heat and they provided a space heater. They think theyll have it fixed early next week.

I just moved from the middle floor of a creaky old apt with horrible, new upstairs neighbors. I really want this to work out, but I also like slapping negligence in the face with a book...You know?🤣
