A place for people to talk about water fasting. By water fasting we mean that we abstain from food and drink except for water.

Hey everyone 😊
I am on day 4 of what I hope to be a 22 day water fast. I am looking for an accountability buddy or group, just a small community of people to check in on and motivate each other daily.
My longest fast has been 11 days on just water back in 2019, but lately I’ve struggled to get past even 1 day so I’m really happy with even getting to day 4.
A bit of background around me:
From 2019 to now I’ve put on 40lbs. Which saddens me as I used to be in really good shape. But after some personal matters the weight crept on leaving me with low self esteem and not really wanting to socialise. I am looking to regain control of my body so I can dress up in nice clothes and feel more confident.
For my stats:
Starting weight: 84.4kg Female 170cm (or 5ft 7) 33 years old
Males of females of any age are welcome to join, I can make a WhatsApp group capping it at 6 or 7 people. I don’t want to exclude anyone I just really want that sense of community.
Good luck with everyone fasting right now 😊
Day 8 almost complete! Went on a 2 mile walk and probably walked too fast or something or just overdid it in general cause I’ve been nauseous ever since. Turning in early and hope tmr is a better day.
Been wanting to do it but haven't been able to get past two days. Hoping making an accountability post will tie me down enough to not break it. Wish me luck!
Day 7 almost complete…
Just your reminder you’re strong and you got this ! Keep on keeping on 😊
Wrapping up day 6 of 30 day fast and I can see a huge improvement in my energy level. And starting to experience that mind clarity a lot of ppl experience during a fast.
How about you ?? Notice a difference positive or negative interested to see.
Hi all,
I’m fasting for a minimum of 30 days starting today, feel free to join me!
I’ll also be stretching daily, doing physio therapy every other day for my knees, briefly using the sauna and walking 7K steps minimum.
SW: 360lbs CW: 270lbs GW: 180lbs Gender: Female Height: 5”8

Hey all, I would like to start my 10 or maybe 12-day water fasting journey this week? Do you have any recommendations on how I should prepare for it, should I change my diet for a few days or take any laxative medicine, as some sources suggest?
I did several 3-day and one 5-day water fastings, that's why this time I am targeting for 10+ days. However, in the past I experienced a lot of water and mainly muscle loss. I have started going to the gym and doing strength training for 1.5 month and have seen some improvement in my muscle mass (probably +1 kg muscle mass). What would be your recommendations on preserving muscle mass during this 10-day water fasting period? Should I go to the gym every day and do light strength training exercises? I am just really concerned that I will loose that 1 kg of muscle mass and minor fat mass and my metabolism will deteriorate even further.
P.S. My height is 158 cm and weight is 55 kg. My target weight is 45-47 kg (but losing that mostly from fat).
Thank you all in advance for all your support and help!!!
Do you think it's a good idea? I was thinking of taking RAD 140 and MK677. (Both taken Orally).
The plan is to do a 2 week water fast and take the sarms. Along with this, i will be doing weightlifting, walk 5 miles and bike. Do you think it's safe? I'm willing to take some damage to increase fat loss by a lot, but not to the point of severe damage.
Hello All! I have achieved my goal! 30/30 days on water (and pure electrolytes) completed. I am still struggling with a bit of food-aversion but it seems it has it sense :)
Now I am breaking the fast and slowly coming back to reality. When I will be fully done I will write a "lessons learned" post... so if you have any questions, please post them in the comments. This way you will help me write something valuable for the whole audience of this subreddit :)
Its been a couple years since i did a prolonged water fast. This time im going to be taking multivitamins along side electrolytes(always did electrolytes )and yeast because I'll be working a semi labor job. What brand/kind of multivitamins/supplements do yall recommend
The benefits obviously outweigh the negative on fasting but I need a little support at the moment.
I'm mid 40s male, athletic build and I have worked out a couple times and do ride the bike a few times during the week. I try to keep my bpm below 120 so not to induce any protein reduction from my muscles.
Results so far is very very good. Weight loss is steady, mind energy stable, can see the difference, get colder, especially in hands but happy so far!
QUESTION: I have sardines and I am very tempted to just have a single can. Why? I got back from a ride and felt fatigued during and after.... I know it will not stop the ketosis per the makeup of the fish bio/chemistry. Would it be bad if i ate one can?????
FEEDBACK MOST WELCOMED.
Thank you!!!!
Hello All, coming to you with I question. I've noticed through the past 2-3 days that I am repelled (or eved disgusted) by the food. I've been fasting for 29 days already. Do you guys had the same? Could you share your thoughts on that?
PS
I am breaking my fast tomorrow with bone broth. Somehow I cannot imagine myself doing that... It's also maybe because of the fact that I've been cooking it for past 48h and it didn't smell well?
I have begun a 18 day water fast. I am not sure how much I will lose a week as everyone’s bodies are different, but I’m hoping to meet 10lbs every 7 days. If it’s more or less I’ll shorten or extend my fast if needed. The lowest I have weighed is 98lbs but I was very skinny even though I am only 5’2! I will weigh myself once every week for accurate results. Any tips on how to keeping going and ignore the hunger will be helpful. I’ll keep y’all updated. Wish me luck!
Hi all, I have a few questions. I want to start a fast, I’m very new
2)how ppl who cook for their families manage to fast? 3) do you exercise? Will I have the strength? 4) since it’s my first time can I include any other drinks? 5) how long should I fast for a beginner?
Thanks & pls be kind!
Sorry if this gets posted a bunch on here, but I'm looking for someone to complete a two week fast with (I haven't started yet). I've completed 7-9 day fasts but I can never seem to fully get to two weeks, I struggle a lot with discipline and motivation so I think if I have someone else doing it with me I'll be more successful.
Goal of this post:
This post is dedicated for sharing with you all knowledge about water-fasting required for starting your journey. I will add here some of my materials... and hope you can do the same for others so that we can all create a knowledge-sharing post!

My dear friends, as some of you know I am currently doing 30-day-water-fasting-challenge and today I've accomplished 27/30 :). During this period of time I also try to be active in our WhatsApp group (https://www.reddit.com/r/Water\_Fasting/comments/1apliwc/group\_chat\_for\_water\_fasting\_with\_occasional/) and have discovered that very often you ask questions which have already been answered by professionals :). I promised you this post and today I deliver :D

So basically i started fasting in the beginning mainly because of my face fat. I wasn’t overweight or anything and in fact pretty skinny about 155lbs at 6,1. I started about 3 months ago at first i did a 5 day water fast my face got very slimmer and i was happy with the results. About a week after the fast i was eating as regular i had gained even more weight and face fat as before and was at about 160lbs. For this reason i decided to do another 5 day fast and eat healthy afterwards. So i did and lasted about 3 days eating healthy than went back into back habits and ate as regular again so i gained my weight back again and at about 162 pounds and gained more face fat. After this i just wanted my original weight back so i start doing 4 day fast and 4 hour refeed periods i am currently doing this it’s been about a month and im at currently 145lbs so under the weight i started at. I’m happy with my face and weight now but dont want to start eating again because i dont want to regain all that weight and face fat. So how could i maintain my new weight of 145lbs and stop fasting? Is it even possible? i feel like my metabolism has gotten worst or something
M/30/168cm before: 98.5kg after: 92.8kg. Its tough ngl. Since this is my first consecutive day fasting the struggle each day is no joke. Day 1-2 is the easiest, I can get through easily. Day 3-5 the headache begin, late night cravings and low energy during the midday. Day 5-7 by far is the weirdest one, almost no energy during mid day, cramps and constantly sleepy. But the result is astounding compared to my previous diet attempts. Might start another week tomorrow hopefully my body will adapt better.
Any tips that you guys and gals can share would be great. Wish me luck 😁😁
Here with a check-in that I am doing fine :). Lessons learned so far:
If you supplement electrolytes on regular basis most of the problems go away (I supplement a glass in the morning and then one in the afternoon which is double-dose of normal needs; I supplement pure electrolytes without any glucose etc.)
The longer you go, the easier it is to hanlde. I am just one week away from my success. Scientist in NASA proved that after 25-30 days of none-stop activity creates a habbit (https://www.samhazledine.com/sams-blog/index.php/2015/01/16/30-days-to-change-a-habit). Now as I am approaching day 25 I handle all the struggles waaay better than in day ~10-15 :)
Communities help! I check this thread every day for information and inspiration. I also joined the WhasApp group for my time of fast. I have even one friend that keeps his fingers crossed and awaits my updates in my local chat :D. That's super-nice!
Finding yourself things to do (a.k.a. "killing your time") really does the work. I am currently wathching "That 70s show" (just finished season 1). And that's the reason why for me it's way easier to fast during work-week than on weekends. Weekends are the worst (and that's where "That 70s show" and director version of "Lord of the Rings" kick in) :)
Wish you all nice fast and thank you all for keeping in touch :D
PS
Things to do: Tomorrow I plan to order beef bones to get myself prepared for weekend as I will be doing bone broth that cooks for 48h! Also this week is to get the 2 packages of my meat that I ordered and plan the food for next week. I will go easy on myself.
I started fasting this morning (Sunday, Oct. 27th) at 6am and plan to go until November 10th. I've gained weight and no longer recognize or feel like myself. I feel stuck in a rut but am hoping to take back control of my life.
Height: 5'5"
Starting weight: 171.2
1st goal weight: 150
2nd goal weight: 135
24 hour update: weighed myself and am now at 168.2 :)
48 hour update: weighed in at 167.8
72 hour update: 166.0
I'm starting a fast tomorrow, possibly a week. But I'm worried how it'll affect my performance with school stuff. What do you guys think I should do.
What vitamins/supplements should I take to help not losing any hair during the water fast? Any Amazon links would be helpful.
I am going to use pink Hama. Salt for electrolytes as well, but I also dont wanna lose hair, people say they lose a bunch during the fast
Hello all!
I started my weight loss journey 5 months ago (June 2024) and for the first 2 months I did a 10 day water fast each month. I have now stopped fasting, however still continuing my low carb/keto diet. I have lost 44 lbs so far - the first 20 lbs thanks to the water fast. This being said, I am suffering from (extremely) excessive hairfall since the last 2 months. Is this because of the water fast/diet? Is there anyway to arrest. My hair is coming out in locks every time I run my fingers through it. I guess I probably lose 500+ hair strands everyday. This is my worst nightmare...
Tbh I am a little reluctant about seeing a doctor because I have a feeling they might ask me to stop the diet, but is there any other way to work around it? I am already taking multi vitamins and iron supplements.
WHY CANT I JUST MAKE IT PAST 1 DAY?? Why does it seem so hard just to fast. I keep losing to food feeling like a weak B*tch and I hate it Man.
Hi I recently finished an eight day water fast and have noticed that my hearing has improved significantly. I can now listen to music comfortably at a 40% decrease in volume. I believe this has also helped resolve my tinnitus. (My sense of smell has also increased; sweet smells seem to make me very nauseous). Has anyone else experienced this while/post fast?
