I enjoy flying and have a full control setup with yoke, stick, and throttle for whatever I want at the time. I have been on and off for 3 years playing bombers. I always seem to be short of money and heard helicopters are a good source of SL
I'm VERY not good at initiating fights as I am in a dog fight so my fights usually end before they start with someone getting a shot off on my belly or tail before I can see them. in a fight though I'm confident in subverting expectations and getting decent manuvers and gravity assists. but I'm never in a pure fighter as it is almost always my disadvantage. also trying to dogfight with an American plane is, I guess, not recommended. boom zoom type.?
I like test flying "bomber" jets with a lot of tech and fancy attachments like laser-guided missiles.
I'm just into rank 4 American planes
if I buy the helicopter will I be able to start the tree or do I HAVE to get a rank 5 tank and plane.
Essentially the title.
The "minutes" fuel display feels absolutely useless in the Demon with how those minutes change drastically with throttle.
I managed to find the panel's actual flow and quantity indicators, and they seem to actually work.
Can I actually rely on them for deciding if it's safe to loiter or which runway to return to?
Hi All,
I've been interested in getting a HOTAS System for a while and finally got one today. I oped for the X56. I did not expect to jump straight in and be a pro... But I did not expect everything to be so overwhelming either. Is there anyone kind enough to jump on and help me get set up properly?
I'm keen to get going with this and willing to put in time to learn it, I just need a bit of help getting started.
G'day I'm Ash, I've Invested some time into sim recently and I had several users ask me about tracking solutions for simulator. Whilst you can get track IR and other eye tracking devices - I can't answer questions about Virtual Reality, I fo own a 1st generation occulus rift, however its not currently recommended due to its age. What would be a good suggestion for people who want a VR device?
So first off I'm very new to sim and after many hours of trial and error I've finally gotten most of my controls set up the way I want, I use a mix between kbm and a HOTAS. My only issue so far is when it comes to using a targeting pod or trying to tv lock in something like an a10 where as soon as I switch to that view my plane either pulls a full vertical or just banks whatever direction it feels like. I've tried using the trim controls and turning on auto trim (which honestly feels like it does nothing) but my plane always ends up running off course in some drastic way, so is there a way to fix this or is it just a skill issue?
What settings/tweaks do you use to improve situational awareness in SIM battles?
The other day I have tried to play SIM after 3years, in A10, and I was shoot down 3/4 tries to get to convoy:) I know it is easier for hunter, cause he can just sit in front of runway and shoot rocket in every gray dot which take off, but how should I avoid it and recognize danger. Tried to fly with opened cockpit but it seems they have reduced external sounds so you can not hear nearby plane until it is 10m from you.
How would something with a very small (stealth) RCS be seen on a tiny MFD screen? I would be inclined to think it does not appear on an MFD and you would need a larger screen like something that would be at NORAD to be able to guide you to such an object.
Hello all,
Some friends and I have put together an air sim group based on the NATO Tiger Association, and are ready to start recruiting. There is something for everybody in our group and we’re focused on making it a great place to hang out with other Blufor sim players.
No problem if you’re new to sim, we host training sessions in custom matches and are all always willing to work with everyone step by step in order to help learn the game together.
Our play style is somewhat realistic breaking the group down into squadrons with various tasks on enduring confrontation missions. The goal is to separate tasks such as air superiority, strategic bombing, and close air support by squadron so that each task can be focused on by the individual while others in the team cover the other tasks. For example, if you prefer to attack convoys in an attacker but struggle with making it to the convoys before being intercepted, another squadron of fighters will provide cover for you. If you prefer to do air to air but don’t want to miss out on a win due to ticket loss, our attackers and bombers will make sure to pack a punch.
Hopefully the great people of r/WarThunderSim are able to find a home in this group and we can make progress together. All are welcome.
Im newish to sim and keep having problems defereniating enemy and ally from far distances when im in jets
I’ve recently been playing with the “Sepia” colour correction setting under PostFX settings, it warms all the colours slightly to take out more of the blue light which you get from, well, the sky. I also tweaked the “‘L’ inverted white” setting under “Reinhard” tone mapping, this made it even easier to see in the clouds and around the sun than before and it seems like shadows are brighter. I used to get sore eyes all the time with an arguably darker picture but its been weeks since I changed this setting, you should try it out especially at night - at night increased levels of blue light can disrupt your circadian rhythm since your body thinks its day-time.

Hi! I'm slowly getting into sim, i've only really tried out the 4.0 prop range and i quite enjoy it, all be i still have a lot to learn!, anyway, i love the mig19s and hunter f58 but they just kinda get bullied in arb by match making, what are these planes like in sim? do they perform better because of the longer and spread out matches?
Thanks in advance! :D
Hello! Im new to WarThunder and want to play the SIM mode - I am coming from DCS and IL-2 and just want something that is more simulator-y but less demanding than DCS and WarThunder Sim seems perfect for when I wanna fly after work and shoot things. Ive got HOTAS, Head Tracking and fun stuff I just need some guidance and buddies to game with.
I am free most times on the weekend and weekdays around 1am EST and later (I work weird hours)
I need help with TV guided weapons on F4e
So I just started trying to use TV guided weapons in general but specifically on the F4e and am having a hell of a hard time. Everytime I enter the camera mode the seeker is either looking all the way to the left or right of the field of view and I feel like I have to drag my mouse across the pad 10 times to get it centered by which point I am usually close to crashing or have passed the target. Can someone help. I am using a joystick to fly the plane and when I switch to the TV view I use the mouse to aim it, is this causing any issues? I feel like when I enter the camera view it should be looking straight where the aircraft is pointed.
It’s been in game since open beta, why get rid of it now all of a sudden?
Why are they there, if there's no working sam site in any of the gamemodes, especially sim where it would actually make sense to have them. It's just pointless to even have them on the RWR at that point. (Ex. Being S75 or HAWK labeled beneath the RWR which in all my 2 thousand hours of playing this game, have never seen light up.)
Anyone know some good maps to practice gunnery? The test flight ai is handy but there are only a few planes and can waste alot of time chasing them down. The testflight 'mission editor' maps have ground ai that lasers me in every scenario I tried.
Looking for something where I wont get shot at and have plenty of targets. Preferably a map with friendly planes maneuvering that I can shoot at without being shot at by enemy ai.
Hello, i play a good amount of sim and find it the most fun gamemode tbh in air battles, so with this sale i saw the A6E on sale and going away soon, so is the A6E a good plane to have fun in simulator battles? I already have USA almost funny grinded out, i just want to have fun with it.
Hello all! I've recently gotten super into sim, first I got a $40 joystick just to try it out and I was in love. Then I wanted head tracking so I was going to get a remote and strap it to my headphones but then I low balled someone for a VR. Aaaand now I want to chop up clips because there are a ton of good ones I want to share! I am wondering if anyone else uses VR and if there is a way to smooth out a lot of the general shakiness that comes along with recording VR gameplay. Also what editors do you guys use? I'm looking for free and heard davinci is pretty good.
Can’t drop bombs on bases from high altitude in the aardvark, Won’t be able to accurately use laser guided bombs in the night hawk. Do you guys have any alternate ways or tricks you use to bomb without a guidance line, because i’ve never heard anyone complain except me.
