I was visiting Maryland last weekend and a cop in Charles County (who seemed to be on the spectrum) pulled me over for speeding while I was going 7 over.
I did not have a physical copy of my driver's license on me, although I do have a valid VA driver's license. I provided my license # to the very special officer (I have a photo on my phone), but he said that he was unable to pull up my license in whatever system they use to validate licenses. He gave me a warning for going 7 over (wow thanks) but issued a charge for driving without a license, for which I must appear.
I assume under normal circumstances, I could waste a day of my life driving out to Charles County after getting some attestation from the VA DMV that I do, in fact, have a driver's license. Except in 2 weeks I leave the country and won't be back until Christmas at absolute earliest and will likely miss whatever court date they assign.
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to navigate this? I really don't want to shell out hundreds of dollars for a lawyer for this officer's incompetence but it may be my only path forward as I believe COVID-style remote hearings have been discontinued (terrible practice to stop those btw).
I'm thinking every member brings 2 beers for the community chest/whatever they want more than that. And popular votes to determine music genre for next month, maybe 2 days a month....
I have a lot more ideas to make it function smoothly, but if I don't get a few people interested I don't want to waste my time.
Me, I've lived in Waldorf about a year and a half. I'm from the Kansas City area and was active within a lot of local music genres back in the Northeast Kansas/KC scene. I djed for artists like former Mello music group member Stik Figa, played drums in a hardcore punk band, played trumpet in a ska band and have been a part in lots of small projects outside of that.
