Hi friends, I accidentally forgot my trusty water bottle in CF165 on Wednesday Oct 30th, and its now missing :(

Maybe it’s silly to care about a water bottle so much, but I’ve had it for going on seven years and there are weirdly a lot of memories tied to it. Additionally, they don’t make this exact kind of bottle anymore, the newer ones are very different. Idk I’ve just always been very attached to it, I bring it actually everywhere and for years I’ve never needed chapstick bc I stay so well hydrated bc of it, but the past couple days I’ve had such little water due to its absence

I’ve searched and searched and submitted a ticket with the lost and found but I’m not sure how it will pan out. I’m just really hoping I can find it, especially because a replacement isn’t super cheap.

I just thought I’d post and see if anyone can help me or keep an eye out for it, it would mean a lot to me.

And also, if you’re the type of person to steal a lost water bottle, count your days.

I’ve heard about how you’ve been feeling, how all of have been this fall quarter. From fitting in and isolation, to the tragic passings of fellow peers, to just the boat-load of shit we’ve had to wade through just to make it over halfway through the quarter. I just wanna let you know that you are not alone. The days are about to get darker with daylight savings this coming Sunday, and tensions are about to get higher this next week and quite possibly for the rest of the quarter. But you’ve got this. This is not the status quo at Western, or any college experience. And if it is the new one, lord help us all. But that’s admin‘s problem to fix, not yours.

If you find yourself struggling during the start of this winter season and throughout, just know that we’re all in it together. It’s just easier for some folks to not show it or distract themselves from it. Pop some vitamin D supplements, but also give yourself time to appreciate the sun in the morning and the early afternoon while we have it. Take some time to ground and center yourself each day, in whatever way that suits you. I highly recommend clubs too, they’re a good way to find community. You are loved and valued, even when you’re in the depths.

While I don’t intend for this letter to be a self-help thing, I encourage anyone who’d like a to comment any useful strategies they have or share anything they’d like. Spread love to your peers 🧡

Are there any big parties happening tonight to look out for?

I have seen a lot of people on here expressing that they don' t like it here & it wasn't as expected for them, and while that is totally valid a lot of people are probably getting discouraged by it but I just want to say hang in there!! I had not the best time in hs but coming here was so refreshing for not only me but the friends I've made here as well. Overall (at least in my experience) people are very nice and I have never had so many people compliment me in just one month than I have in probably my whole life. Its the perfect place to try out new style in clothes, makeup, or anything with new hobbies/sports. It may take some time to find your friends/friendgroup but once you do (& i think everyone probably can) everything gets so much better :)

Basically the title. I'm trying to set up recycling of vapes on campus because they have really nice batteries and a few other components I want for projects and to keep out of landfills as they are very very bad for the environment, so, if you have any dead disposable devices DM me and they'll be repurposed into a battery pack. I’m in my 4th and final year in college and I’ve taken mostly COMM classes here at WWU. Once I get a B- or better in COMM 228 I can declare as a COMM studies major. It’s a couple quarters later than I wanted to but at least I’m doing it. I’d like to work in Sports Media and I need to take 2 COMM classes in my last 2 quarters and my other 4 classes are elective credits. Does anyone recommend any 300 level or higher 5 credit classes for me to potentially take in my last 2 quarters outside COMM studies? FYI I took some Journalism classes last year seeing if they would interest me and I decided to not continue once I realized the next class was the Front and I felt like I didn’t have the time or resources to go around the city and find people to interview for stories once a week so please don’t recommend any Journalism Classes. i realized that i kind of hate my current major and was looking to switch before it was too late.

i have been considering switching over to PME since it seems much more engaging, and the faculty/students i interacted with seem great! that being said, i wanted to get some outside opinions on it before i take the plunge next quarter.

for any past or current students, what are your experiences with the program? where are you now or where do you want to end up after graduation? do you feel like you were set up for post-grad success(how’s the job market)?

i think that the program looks fascinating, i just want to make sure i am setting myself up for success.

As I was driving home down Bill McDonald tonight, I attempted to pass through the intersection with 21st street. Passing behind a turning car, I witnessed tonight's genius beginning his merry way along the crosswalk, directly in front of my vehicle and directly below my green light. The turning car had, until now, blocked his view of me, and my view of him. As I skidded to a stop, ABS crunching away, he continued his jaunty journey across the street, apparently unaware that he had only escaped severe injury or death due to the exceptional functioning of my all-season tires and my below-average reaction time.

Stay safe out there, take care when crossing the street, and watch out for drivers too- there will be many partygoers driving home tonight who should have waited until morning.

Has anyone else gotten an email from them? They say the school has some funds for me. I just don’t know if it’s a scam.
