Les glissements de terrains peuvent être déclenchés par de fortes pluies, des sécheresses, des tremblements de terre, et même des irruption volcaniques. Mais de toutes ces choses, les pluies abondantes sont la cause principale et le 3 juin 2020, un énorme glissement de terrain, en Norvège à été filmé alors qu'un énorme morceau de terre d'environ 14 m² avec des maisons au sommet, s'est détaché du reste de la terre et à commencé à glisser dans la mer de Norvège. Où il a finalement sombré sous l'eau, et n'a laissé que des dévastations massives.
