Masshealth plan help

Hi, so I’m a 24 year old out of college and I’ve had masshealth for years and mass health care plus for the past couple since my parents passed so I couldn’t be on their plan anymore. But I guess I never knew I had to choose a plan so they auto enrolled me to a pcc plan (I think) in the past. But I realize now I have to choose a plan along with qualifying for Masshealth alone. Does it matter which one I choose or should just select the PCC one? I tried to look up stuff about these plans and the differences but I need it in plain language, I do not understand any of this😅

I’m in central MA, don’t have serious health problems though I occasionally get referred to specialists for things, and I have a therapist/psychiatrist for mental health. & I already know all my providers cover masshealth overall so I don’t think what I choose would effect coverage to my current providers hopefully. But I just don’t know what to do/what to choose

Any thing helpful in the comments would be appreciated. Additional note, a lot of my care is through the UMass memorial health system so maybe that last plan could be good? Thank you!

Looking for work

This may not be the best place to do this but I recently lost my job and I have a girlfriend and a dog at home. I’ve lived in my apartment for a few years and I have a savings that will last me some time. I just don’t like to not be working so I’m just wondering if anyone has any odd jobs they need done, cleaning, lifting, etc. Or if anyone knows of anywhere hiring. I was making $22/hr so I can’t take a huge pay cut but I’m willing to pick up hours and do all that. Please someone reach out if you’re looking for help. Also it doesn’t have to be for money in every situation while I am looking to make a couple extra bucks I also get sometimes ppl need help and arent in a place to pay so I am also lending my service to that. And for anyone saying get a job I have several applications filled out and sent in just waiting to hear back but the job market is kinda shit these days. Please no judgment just looking to put myself to work

Western Massachusetts family history & ancestry

Hello everyone!

I’m a genealogist & I am trained in discovering local Massachusetts family lineages and stories through vital records, census records, and newspapers.

This is the interest form I put together for anyone interested in learning more about their personal Massachusetts family history. I create family trees, ancestral maps, and historical road trip itineraries based on YOUR personal family history! It’s a great way to connect with your heritage and wonderful knowledge pass down to future generations.

LINK TO INTEREST FORM: Family History Interest Form

Here are some things you can discover from my research:

  • Newspaper articles about your ancestors (Crime? Scandal? Who knows!)
  • Custom ancestral mapping showing your approximate ethnic admixture
  • Most common causes of death in your family history
  • United States migration mapping showing how your ancestors migrated throughout the country
  • Your great-great-great grandparents’ names
  • Most popular professions and careers in your family history
  • Photographs of your ancestors you have never seen before (Found in Newspaper archives, I have subscriptions to several newspaper websites)

I have a degree in Anthropology and have spent several years working for a professional genealogy company. I have been working as an individual genealogist for about 6 years. If you have any questions about my research, please fill out an interest form or email: heritagehuntersgenealogy@gmail.com

For those of you with ancestry outside of Massachusetts, please send me a message. I’d be happy to help you or direct you to a better suited genealogist. Thanks!

Cooley Dickinson vs Baystate?

Hi, I'm in the greater Springfield area and recently I've been struggling to decide where I should go with my medical care, especially now I'm pregnant. So any experience or suggestions regarding the two major hospitals in the area (Cooley Dickinson and Baystate)? Currently I get all my care from Baystate but now that I'm pregnant, I'm wanting to be more thoughtful around this...

Western mass (Greenfield) college-grad alt rock band looking for bass player

We’re Signal Pine, a newly formed alternative rock band based around the Western Mass/Southern VT/Southwestern NH area. Some of our major influences include Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, and the Strokes. We’re looking for a fourth musician who plays either bass or guitar+keyboard, preferably someone who can also sing backing vocals and is interested in helping with songwriting. We are a serious band, fully committed to frequent gigging and production of an album. Our current members will have graduated college as of Summer 2021 and we will be devoting the majority of our energy to the band. Therefore you need to be willing to commit to the following:

  • Summer 2021 : weekly rehearsals and practicing on your own time
  • Fall 2021-Spring 2022 : live gigging in the New England area (mostly weekends but possibly some weeknights as well), as well as continued rehearsing and song-writing
  • Being involved in recording original songs for release
  • Helping to secure gigs and promote the band
  • Residence in the Western Mass/Southern VT/Southwestern NH area is a must, since that’s where we’ll be centered

If you’re interested and think you might be a fit, fill out this form and we’ll email you so we can get to know each other better. We’ll send some demos your way and we can talk about next steps. Don’t be afraid to reach out!

Choosing a MassHealth Plan...help!

Hey guys,

So I'm located in Agawam and was recently accepted for MassHealth CarePlus. I have quite a few options based on my zip code as far as plans go...ten to be exact. Needless to say, I'm a bit overwhelmed. I've reviewed the guides on "how to choose a health plan" and even compared each plan to one another on masshealthchoices, checked out each provider's website separately, and searched the internet all over, but I'm still stumped on what to pick. I have (somewhat) narrowed it down to two options: BeHealthy Partnership (ACO) or BMC HealthNet Plan - Mercy Alliance (ACO).

Has anyone had experience with either? I am a healthy adult female, no past medical complications or history of disease, no surgeries or hospital stays. My primary concern is to have access to a good behavioral health specialist/therapist (speculate I'm undiagnosed ADHD & have other psychological needs). Having acupuncture and chiropractic specialists would be a plus. With MassHealth CarePlus I will not have any premiums, so it's not a factor in making my decision. I was previously on my father's health insurance from my home state in NY until 6 months ago (when I turned 26), and have not seen any doctors out here in MA. I would often travel to NY to see my primary care physician and OBGYN when I was still on his plan. So having a doctor I want to stick with and making sure they are in the network is also not a factor.

Here are the other options that were presented to me, in case I am narrowing down to the wrong two (or if some of the others are potentially better for me, in particular):

~ BMC HealthNet Plan (MCO)
~ BMC HealthNet Plan Community Alliance (ACO)
~ Community Care Cooperative (C3) (Primary Care ACO)
~ Partners HealthCare Choice (Primary Care ACO)
~ Primary Care Clinician Plan (PCC)
~ Steward Health Choice (Primary Care ACO)
~ Tufts Health Together (MCO) - *not sure how this applies since I'm in Western MA...?
~ Tufts Health Together with Boston Children's (ACO) - *again, not sure how this applies to me

I am fairly new to this insurance thing since I've been covered through my father's employer for the duration of my life. Idk if I'm just making things complicated and really all of these could be a good choice for me, an overall healthy individual with no special needs.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!

Where to live? School in Springfield

I'll be starting Western New England for a graduate program this coming August. I'll be coming from Providence (RI) but am not familiar with western MA. I've heard Springfield is not the greatest in terms of safety. Looking for something affordable (less than $1000/mo) that is pet friendly.

What are some areas to look for a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment (boyfriend and dog will be joining me)? I'm willing to commute to school up to half an hour, possibly even 45 minutes.

Door-to-door book sales in Amherst?

This is not a call-out or doxxing, I'd just like more information:

Today, a young, college aged guy knocked on my door and gave me a spiel about getting over his fear of public speaking by selling books to military personnel and children's hospitals. His explanation was very convoluted and intense, and everything he said seemed to be designed to steer me away from who he's really with, and the fact that he was asking for money. I suspected a church, so I respecfully told him I'm broke since I don't donate to the military or religious organizations, and he continued to push me, saying if I paid with a check, I'd have a couple of days before the money cleared. I want to say he said it was called "Encore books" but I can't find it on google. Once again, I'm just curious and not trying to smear anyone. The whole experience smelled of a scam and I'd just like to know

Adult Hockey Leagues Pioneer Valley

I am wondering if anyone knows the best place for either drop-in/open Men's Hockey ice time, and/or the best place to get into an adult mens hockey league.

We are moving back to the area after several years and will be in Northampton. So far what we are seeing is the "Open Hockey and Lunchtime Pick-up Hockey" at the Mullens Center. Any other open options?

If anyone is familiar with the level of play and different leagues in the area - and is open to a little Q&A let me know. Trying to find the best option for a very good skater, but who only started playing hockey in the last few years (he's been on a team recreationally for the last two years).

Thanks!

It's not Noho it's Hamp!

It seems like everyone these days calls Northampton Noho, they even name places after it. Since when?? I moved away for 5 years, 2009-2014 and now that I'm back it's so wildly different. Noho and etown? Whatever happened to Hamp and the big Easy?

Just a stupid rant from a local.

Considering a move to Northampton area

Right now it's likely between here and the Philly area. I'm a single guy, just turned 40. Looking for a place to hopefully build a life. The potential job I have here might be a better offer, but I wonder if Philly might be better for building a social circle, dating, etc. which is important to me right now.

Any insight into the dating scene, social activities, opportunities to meet people in the area? I'd like to get more involved in social dancing if there's a scene. I also act, so community theater would be of interest. Also into sports, outdoor activities, and craft beer.

Finally, looking for an urban type of area to live - places to walk to, hang out. Doesn't have to be a city, can be a small town, just a lot that's easily accessible, where you can walk down the block and grab coffee or something.

Thanks!

Looking to move to the area with no knowledge of where to look: advice please!

My husband and I are looking to move from NJ to western MA. We dislike NJ. We've lived in NH previously for years and he lived in Malden/Brockton area for awhile when he was younger so we are familiar with New England. We are sick of the city and want to live somewhere not too far from a city area. We want a yard :) and decent schools for our niece who is 10. We are looking to live more in the suburbs and within 30 minutes of a city which is where I will most likely find a job. What towns are nice without being overpriced for renting? We pay about 1400$ now for a nice 3 bedroom in a shitty neighborhood so we'd like to pay a little less and can go down to a two bedroom to live in a nicer area. We want to be away from the hood, away from insane traffic (I drive 14 miles to work and it takes me almost an hour now) and close to fresh air and green grass and trees.

Edit:punctuation

At approximately 8:15 today... did anyone else hear the air raid siren at Westover Air Reserve Base?

Was genuinely freaking out this morning. It ran for what sounded like two cycles. The first one I thought was the wind, but then it came back exactly the same. I was conscious enough to check my watch. I'm still wondering if I was hallucinating, though.
