You might remember Radio Thrift Shop from several years back. She was the host. That was one of my WFMU gateway drugs.
title.
We have NOT met our goal. Still fairly short of it. And if we don't meet it today, the Hellraiser will continue into November until we DO meet it. And we don't want that, right, people?! Let's do this like the Dodgers did last night!!
We made our GOAL!!!!!
Where else am I gonna hear obscure 80's punk rock songs about vampires at 3am other than Cat Bomb? WMFU's Halloween selections are a service to humanity, honestly.
Is Bryce coming back? I listened to his last show back in June, but was distracted. It sounded like there was going to be a pause but if so, it hasn’t been un-paused yet. Fabio is back on Thursday, the record fair is happening in Manhattan & in the fall. Balance in the universe has almost been fully restored.
Back at Metropolitan Pavilion (18th st. between 6th and 7th Avenues), but a little shorter. Friday Noon-3:00 pm is special admission $30, regular admission ($10) is 3:00-9-00 pm. Saturday 10:00 am-7:00 pm.
I'll be working the station's cheapo $1 LP table on Saturday, watching dealers flock over to buy stuff and flip it for $20 at their table, haha.
Been dipping my toe in the alternate streams (Give the Dummer/ Sheena’s Jungle) for a while, and there’re some great shows on them that don’t get much love; highly recommend exploration!
Are there any data on the matter?
I wonder who it is, where they are, or if it's just my shadow?
Maybe he did and I don’t know about it? There are just so many extraordinary stories during his long tenure. I know it would probably not be a bestseller, but i’d read it. You would too i bet. He could title it “Herding Freaks” or something. What would you title it??
Which show has the most weird playlists?
Is there a show that focus on Jazz?
I just broadcast a show on my show STRONG STYLE CHRIS CRASH focusing on the ELECTRIC CIRCUIT For 80s all night punk festival held in 1979 Yokohama Japan. It features Lizard, Friction, Sheena & The Rokkets and so much more of the earliest bands that helped spark this scene that we all love. Archive is available now and free to listen! https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/144784
Time to pitch in. The green angelfish t-shirt is kind of cool.
Hey. I just saw a billboard for the wake in bake show (I never watched this station btw as I am not in New Jersey) and saw that it had the a in a circle anarchist symbol. Is there a reason they use that? Also, sorry for not including a photo. I saw it while on nj transit and the glare from the sun was getting in the way.
Please: Any shows to recommend that play a fair amount of new releases? Thank you.
I got into WFMU around 2020 or so. With this new Archive Bunker app that makes the Archive SO MUCH MORE CONVENIENT to listen to, I would like to dive into the WFMU world of 2001-2020. There are so many DJs that I don't know anything about. I don't care about musical genres so much. Are there any DJs that are uniquely special from this time period? Especially those who are no longer DJing? Please don't say all of them! (which is probably the truth).
So far, I'm very thankful to listen to old episodes of Nickel and Dime Radio, Duane Train, and Sophisticated Boom Boom. (they were my gateway into FMU)
iOS only but this new app is pretty slick.
I realize beggars can’t be choosers, but I would love a way to ‘cast’ the audio from the iOS apps.
Here here!
Does anybody know where to find/how to watch Ken and Andy's failed cable show pilot?
is
Jesus Going to Clean House, Lee Tracy & Isaac Manning, Is It What You Want, 2022
Darren's show last night, 9/15/2024

The song is available on Spotify.
What's the best song you've heard recently? Which DJ played it?
... but when I do, I return it with some choice listening suggestions.
What are some other good freeform stations?
Are the archives down right now? I'm trying to listen to a 2015 episode of shut up weirdo and the page cannot be found!

Not a ton of changes, a few people moving to different time slots (Fabio back home on Thursday afternoon!)
What’s the song that plays behind Clay’s station happenings segment? It’s a lowkey jungle song, I really dig it.
UPDATE! IT'S WORKING AGAIN! THANK U EVERYONE FOR THE ASSISTANCE! Woke up and tried to use my google home speaker to stream wfmu and got a terrible audio recording informing me wfmu is no longer available to stream there. Anyone else having this issue?
Ive discovered a bunch of newer stuff in the few months ive been listening...mostly on Wake, but on other shows too. Much of the time I'll just like the single, and not everything else by the band or on whatever album, which is fine.
But what have you heard on the station where you just got completely sucked into the album/band and became a really big fan?
I wasn’t sure if there’s a better sub to pose this query, but figured WFMU listeners would probably know the answer.
Are there any online stations that play Tropicalia and/or other Brazilian stuff from that era? Earlier Samba, Bossa, and later jazzy and pop stuff is also appreciated.
I’d love to find a channel that I can listen to in my car that streams on TuneIn, but my searches so far have been disappointing.
