Looking for the best beer /brewery on the way back from Olympic National and the Seattle Airport. I’m a beer fan, so love a great beer at a cool brewery. Love hazy IPA, Blonde Ales and Oktoberfest amongst others!
If there’s NA beer options (draft or cans) that’s a plus but not required
Upper Left is cancelled but River's Edge is still on and one of my favorite brewfests! Anyone going? It's more than just beer—there's cider, wine, and even some distilleries, has free parking, live music, lawn games and no kids around. riversedgebrewfest.com
Just rolled by, saw they're working on opening up a tasting room in the old Tacos Guaymas at 808 E Green Lake Way N.
I know Kendall had reported this over a year ago, but looks like they're making progress.
Does anyone know if any bars in’s greater Seattle area with Younger on tap this year?
Why do their cans spray everywhere when I open them? Are they overfilled or over-pressurized?
What’s the deal with Douglas Lager?
I’m former industry but new to the seattle beer scene. After following a few local breweries, my instagram algorithm promoted “Douglas Lager” (Douglaslager [dot] com) to me late last year. They have a very slick social media presence. Naturally, this makes me a little skeptical.
Apparently it started as a kickstarter project to make a local rainier competitor, and it looks like they were (are?) associated with lowercase brewing. The beer appears to be a SMaSH lager, and they claim John Marti as their head brewer.
They had a limited release at Bottleworks in Wallingford on 12/28/23, but I missed it. As far as I can tell, they’re still stuck at bottling so I haven’t seen any in the wild yet.
Can anyone tell me what I need to know about Douglas? I posted this yesterday in the Seattle beer subreddit but didn’t get any responses
Does anyone know if WABL is still a thing? and if they are planning events this year? Trying to plan a trip, but if washington brewers fest is back I will avoid that weekend.
Thanks
I’ve bought three beers from matchless now and all three have looked oxidized or at least darker than I would have guessed. Admittedly warm stored (twice at Costco in the hopes that they turn it fast enough)
Hop flavors muted, not a ton of aroma. One of the beers only listed pils malt for grain and looked like it practically had a crystal addition by the time I poured it.
I don’t see their stuff in kegs often around me, so I dont have a baseline to compare.
I used to be able to get some great ones when I’ve gone to Leavenworth but the place I used to get them seemed to have removed that part of their store. Although I also haven’t been back in a few years so I don’t know if anything has changed since the last time I went. Plus I often can find a few at nearby World Markets. Plus I’ve occasionally found a few good ones at a few Fred Meyers that I’ve been to. I’m more looking for lagers or more light colored beers. No IPAs.
I’ll be in Leavenworth for an afternoon and night this weekend. What’re the must-drinks and must-dos? Fans of fruited sours, marzenbiers, Vienna lagers, kolsch. Not so big on hefeweizens, but willing to give anything a shot!
Old Stove, expanding like crazy. Nice to see a local brewery go in there.
WOO HOO! They just posted this on their Instagram Stories a few minutes ago.
All ages, dog friendly.
I’m newly 21 and my favorite is Rainier right now but I know it’s not local anymore but I love the taste lol. But I would love some recommendations, thank you!
Are there any breweries out there looking to sell? My business partner and I are looking to buy a brewery in Western WA. We are both local and have experience in commercial brewing. If you are aware of any places considering selling, let me know. Cheers.
Just had their seltzers, good stuff if yall are wanting something other than truly or claw
They posted yesterday on their Instagram that the Shilshole location will be all ages. The Western Ave spot will stay 21+.
(the timing of the post coincided with April Fools, but this is no joke!

When modern times was bought out by Maui, alot of people thought that they were kinda done, but word on the street is that they're coming back soon. I for one, am excited for OMG
As much as I love supporting my WA breweries, this is a welcome return of a quality California brewery for distribution.

Doing some yard clean-up this afternoon in the rain, I saw this unopened can of Budweiser peeking out of the dirt where some blackberries used to grow. Not sure of the age — can’t make out the “born on” date. I do know it predates when I bought the house (2006) and also know Budweiser started including born on dates in 1986. What would you do with it?
Whats everyone's opinion on chuckanut. Would you like to see it in 6pks?
Here at Hoh River Brewing, probably our most common flavorings are blood orange puree, toasted coconut, and pineapple.
My favorite beer in the whole world is Switchback Ale. A "red ale" from South Burlington, Vermont that prides itself on not adhering to any styles or guidelines. And it's good. Really, really good.
But you can't get it out here. I brought some back with me during a recent visit, but it seems like it went flat over the plane ride. It did get shipped via a checked bag so it's likely that's why.
So I'm looking for recommendations for what to try to try and emulate it, or get something similar in taste.
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.
