Bluebird Cafe tickets as a gift

My husband and I are visiting Nashville for the first time to celebrate his 60th birthday next week. My son was able to score coveted tix at Bluebird Cafe (Vince Gill will be performing!!) as a bday gift to my husband. The fine print on the order reads that tickets must be picked up at Will Call and are non-transferable. Has anyone ever received tickets as a gift and been denied entry? We are SO excited to go and terrified they won't let us in!

Verdict on Salemtown Airbnbs?

We're planning a trip to Nashville soon and I've seen very mixed reviews in posts on r/Nashville for if Salemtown is safe for an Airbnb. We'd be pretty close to the edge with Germantown and not near Rosa Parks if that makes a difference?

Wanted to ask in this sub to get a bit more of a recent perspective on the neighborhood, thank you in advance for the help!!

Visiting from the UK next month - any advice?

Hi, I have decided to visit Nashville from 28th November for a week as I want to go to the Vanderbilt vs Tennessee college game. I will be travelling solo from the UK and this will be my first time visiting Nashville.

I have also realised that it is thanksgiving weekend when I am visiting - will this impact my vacation much, will bars still be busy and lively?

It would be good to go to some good bars and experience some live music, and get to meet locals in bars etc, can anyone help me with recommendations of things to do and places to visit in terms of sites and local bars, music spots and restaurants? Thanks!

Thanksgiving Eve

I am delivering a car to Florida over the Thanksgiving holiday and hope to make Nashville by Wednesday night. What venue would you recommend for solo singer songwriter performances the night before Thanksgiving?

Vacation - what should I do?!

Hey everyone, this week my girlfriend, a buddy and I will be heading to Nashville (from MA) for a few days, what are some things that we should definitely do and or check out ?? We will be going to the Titans-patriots game on Sunday but other than that we don’t have any set plans.

Looking forward to seeing the responses, thanks in advance!

Favorite Bars on 12 South

My wife and I are staying the weekend in a BnB right behind Edleys. I’m curious what are people’s favorite bars in easy walking distance. We plan on eating at Edleys Friday night and hunting a bar right after.

Thanksgiving day Reservations

Hi all,

Family of 8 (6 adults, 3 and 6 year old) traveling from New Orleans over Thanksgiving holiday. Looking for recommendations for Thanksgiving day reservations for lunch/early dinner.

We will be staying in the Music Row area, looking to spend $100 or so per person not including alcoholic beverages and whatnot.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Laquinta Downtown?

Laquinta Downtown

Going to a concert at Ascend. I usually stay in Goodlettsville, but don’t want to be that far out. Has anyone stayed at the Laquinta Downtown? Is it a good place to stay?

First time; visiting during the holiday season

Hi!

I’ll be visiting Nashville for the first time during the holiday season and have a few questions!

  1. What’s the weather like in December? I’m coming from the north east so I know what real cold is! I’m assuming you guys have a mild winter?

  2. Any areas you recommend we stay in that isn’t downtown or in the heart of the city. Safety is important to us! Also don’t want to pay for hotel parking. Willing to stay on the outskirts because we’ll have a car.

  3. Any bar/restaurant/cafe recommendations welcome! We’re vegetarian so hoping there’s options for us!

Really looking forward to visiting! Thanks for your help in advance!

Best restaurant for someones first ever Thanksgiving?

Bringing my family from the UK to Nashville this year. Doing thanksgiving in the City and then going to Dollywood/Smoky Mountains (Mum is a huge Dolly fan).

Which restaurant would be the most "American Thanksgiving" restaurant in Nashville? 5 people total.

Also... I fear I've made a mistake in my accommodation choice. We're staying in Hope Gardens (just South of Jefferson St) which I'm since realising is potentially really bad? Any thoughts on that.

[META] PSA on getting questions actually answered

SA: Getting questions answered. [1]:

I would start out by doing a search in the upper right hand corner, as most of the questions you are going to ask have been asked numerous times. Unless you have a really unique question, like "where can I buy a taxidermy racoon that looks like he is flipping people off", it has been asked (the answer to the racoon question is Hail Dark Aesthetics - unless they sold that one - it is over on Gallatin road in East Nashville).

NOTE: Most people are not going to be rude in this group (not true in others, btw), but searching may get you better answers than the ones that are being freewheeled in here (less of a crap shoot if you find a few options).

Questions I am sure have answers

  1. Best hotels [optional: for food type]?

  2. Best [food type] restaurant [optional: downtown only]?

  3. Where are the safe areas? (NOTE: Is this area safe is a valid question, especially if you have an address)

[2] When asking, the more specific the question, the more likely you get what you want.

Example:

  • What are the best hotels downtown? Vague, lots of answers; maybe not the one you need.

  • Can someone recommend a hotel with free breakfast and a rooftop pool and bar that can see the fireworks on the fourth of July? This is much better, as I know some specifics that can rule out a lot of hotels.

NOTE: If you get too specific, I might tell you bad news, like "I want a hotel with a clown show for kids, a brunch buffet, and a rooftop pool with a bar that serves great cuba libres"? I have no clue on clown shows in any of the hotels and the Cuba Libre is a drink that is usually much better in Miami. But I can get you the ones that have some of your desires.

FURTHER NOTE: While this helps out the people answering questions, it is also very useful to you. If you have specific needs or desires, and we know that, we can see what comes to mind. It also reduces the standard answers that may not fit your needs. Example: The Drury Hotel is a standard answer. It is a great hotel, but you won't see the fireworks from the rooftop pool as the Hyatt Place blocks your view.

EDIT: THX u\blanchekitty

Here are some things you should consider when being specific:

  • Any specific area of town. If you are in Bellevue and ask "what are some great breakfast places in the Nashville", someone might suggest Nadeen's in Mt. Juliet. They would be correct. Nadeen's is fantastic, but you are probably going to like the 5 minute drive to the Loveless Cafe over the 40 minute drive, in traffic, to Nadeen's. Flip that if you are over in Donelson.

  • Price range: I think a $300/night downtown hotel is extremely reasonable in Nashville, but under $200 might be your budget and what you consider reasonable. It will help avoid suggestions that are out of your budget.

  • Type of food, especially if you have picky eaters. If I suggest the Optimist for dinner, and you hate seafood, it won't be as magical an experience for you.

If you show you did some research, you usually get more interaction. I love when someone say "I am looking at the Marriott, W, and Four Seasons and I want to know which is best for [list of criteria]?" W for a party pool, Marriott for a great restaurant (Bourbon Steak), and Four Seasons for a pool you can see fireworks from. Cha-ching!

Where would you live downtown?

Hello,

My wife and and I are looking to move to nashville. We are thinking Germantown or near the gulch. Everyone's been so helpful but we don't exactly know the area too well. Looking to spend $2500-4000 a month. Also maybe green hills but can't find anywhere decent to rent there. Thanks

Looking for places to eat on a Dad/Daughter trip

Hey, my nearly 70 yr old dad and I will be in Nashville for a weekend in November. I’m a LONG time Austinite who doesn’t need super touristy recommendations, he lived in Nashville in the 70s while working for TDOT. Looking for hearty food/fancy restaurants worth the hype and price/relaxing bars (dives always but a fancy cocktail always good!) without the bachelorettes. Any advice appreciated! Thank you!

Safe to walk from Bridgestone Arena to Rep John Lewis/Peabody?

My wife and I will be visiting Nashville for the first time this weekend for a concert. We'll be staying on the corner of Rep John Lewis Way S and Peabody St. It's a relatively short walk from the looks of it, but I wanted to make sure it was a safe walk at night. Thanks!

NYE 2024 Big Bash - how to plan?

Hi folks - just booked NYE at the Tempo by Hilton so I could walk over to the Big Bash (Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Kane Brown). Help me figure out the rest of my plan. What time would I need to get to the park if I want to catch the entire show/all 3 performances? Is there a local company that offers a VIP experience - like yeah the concert is free but for $100 we'll give you access to a special viewing area and bathrooms on a trailer instead of portapotties?

a few more questions re: my trip... what is the move for new years day? and what are the best thrift shops?

thanks!

Hiking /Outdoorsy things

My boyfriend and I are visiting Nashville in mid November. I’ve seen lots of great recs for food and entertainment, but can anyone recommend any good hiking/ waterfalls within a 2 hour drive of Nashville? We’d love to be able to go to Pigeon Forge / the Smokies, but realistically we can’t swing the drive there and back within a day. Thanks!

New Country on Broadway?

I have been to Broadway a few times, and I mostly hear a lot of classical rock. A few bars play older country (Alabama, Willie, etc.). Occasionally, I have even heard bands play Eminem (at Deirks) and even Spice Girls (at Tootsies). But my wife and I like New Country, and since most of it is made in Music Row, we wonder why more of it isn't played on Broadway. It's really popular, more so than ever, so I don't know why it's not played more since it's from Nashville.

So, my question is: where can we see new country being played by bands on or near Broadway, such as Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Sam Hunt etc.? Is there any place where most of the songs will be country that is played on the radio nowadays? Thanks for any advice!
