Register to vote by October 15th, and vote in the 2024 elections

On November 5th, Virginia will vote not just for President, but for Congress. Register and vote so you'll have a say in what kind of country America will be!

In Virginia, you must register by October 15th to register in advance. You can register here: https://vote.elections.virginia.gov/VoterInformation

If you miss this deadline, you can also register at your general registrar during early voting or at your polling place on Election Day. See this page for more information.

Voting in person

Virginia offers early voting from September 20th-November 2nd. Early voting happens at your local voter registration office. Some counties and cities offer additional early voting sites; see their website for more information.

If you prefer, you can vote at your polling place on Election Day, November 5th.

When voting in person, be sure to bring an acceptable form of identification.

Voting by mail

Any voter in Virginia may choose to vote by mail. Apply for an absentee ballot here.

Ballots must be postmarked by November 5th and received by November 8th, so mail your ballot back promptly. You can also return your ballot in person to your local voter registration office, or a dropbox in your county or city (see their website for locations). If you return your absentee ballot in person, you must do so by November 8th.

If you mail your ballot, you can track it here.

Push Poll from the Congressional Leadership Fund

For whatever reason, my wife likes having a landline. So, today I got an obvious push poll from the Congressional Leadership Fund using https://www.dynata.com/ to administrate it. It was obviously trying to influence low-information voters to vote for Derrick Anderson.

Since I'm in D7, it was all about Eugene Vindman. The overall theme was trying to tie his candidacy to the Biden administration.

Some of the questions I remember:

  • Trying to blame carjacking rates in DC on Biden and saying that Vindman supports Biden.

  • Blaming Biden for inflation and saying that Vindman won't do anything about it.

  • Vindman supports raising taxes (the expiration of the Trump tax cut).

Obviously no questions about Derrick Anderson and his fake family.

I stopped the "survey" to ask if this is a push poll and the worker said that she couldn't divulge any information except what was written in her script.

So, it's nice to see that the Republican dirty tricks machine is in full force.
