Anyone have a spare Alaska Pass they can share for me to book?
Staying at the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon before sailing in December. Has anyone stayed here and can recommend the best way to get to the terminal for embarkation? Thanks!
This is my first time cruising VV. If I opt to leave my luggage outside my door the night before debarkation, how do I go about collecting it once off the ship? Also, is this a time consuming processing.
Secondly, what is the latest debarkation time slot I can select? I ask because I want to have brunch in the Wake prior to leaving the ship on the final day.
We are taking a Roatan fivestar excursion in Roatan, not an excursion offered by VV. This will be my 3rd voyage, but I've never done an excursion that wasn't offered by VV. How much would be an appropriate tip?
Balcony cabin upgraded to Cheeky Corner Suite with an even bigger terrace! Got our upgrade about 2 weeks before our sailing date. We bid $1,200 (since it’s a sister’s trip and we’re splitting the cost, it didn’t seem toooo bad).
I’ve only ever cruised on Royal Caribbean and am so excited for a different vibe. And I’ve never sailed in anything nicer than a balcony cabin!
I’m reading this is really a tip free cruise other than the baggage porters. Does that apply to our Rockstar agent too?
I’ve been reading as much as I can to make the most of the trip, but any additional tips and tricks always appreciated!
Unfortunately it also looks like another storm might form in the next week in the Caribbean…while that makes me nervous, I’m honestly hoping they have to change our ports to something more interesting!
Well it's been rolling out for about a week now but people are starting to notice. (update the app if you haven't already been prompted to)
If you have worked with the app this week or sailed this week in particular, what's your first thoughts? Better, worse? Does it still crash?
I looked up Puerto Plata on this sub and didn’t see much about any water activities. Was wondering if anyone had any insight they could share please
We are not looking at excursions outside of the port area - just from what i’ve read on here it seems to be more of a hassle than an enjoyment.
Any suggestions for things to do at or close to the port?
Going in November so i’m not sure how the weather will be - Assuming warm enough to enjoy the ocean?
Not sure if I was supposed to do something differently to get an earlier slot, but that's what I got. If I call support or show up early is it possible to get moved up?
Does anyone know how to reserve a ship cabana? My husband and I are leaving for our first cruise in a few weeks. The app doesn't give me an option anywhere to reserve. TIA!
I’m not a coffee drinker, but I have to have a Monster every morning to get my caffeine fix
So we boarded Valiant Lady yesterday and the embarkation was awful. This is my third cruise with VV and I was so disappointed. They lined us up like normal outside in front of the Miami terminal, and instead of letting us in through the main entrance which is all gorgeous with the photo op areas they schlepped us through the back warehouse area. This is the area that normally serves as the exit at the end of the cruise where they line up luggages. They had us go through x-ray and security screening before getting our bracelets. There was only one x-ray machine so the line was extra long unlike in the normal embarkation area where I remember them having several x-ray machines after you’ve already received the wristband which moved the lines very quickly. Then during check in it felt totally impersonal and bleak unlike the first two cruises I had with them in the main welcome area because there wasn’t anybody to welcome and guide us we just kind of moved forward on our own. The staff are also apparently no longer allowed to put the wristbands on us so we had to struggle putting it on ourselves (small issue I know). Overall it seemed weird and unnecessarily disorganized because there was nobody directing people to a check in table you just kind of had to line up behind a table and the staff from behind the tables would have to wave until someone noticed they were available. Idk I still like VV but that was such an off putting experience to be pushed through a bleak grey environment first thing upon arrival considering they’ve got such a gorgeous terminal that was apparently reserved for just rockstars. Oh except a couple of friends of mine showed up a little late so they were funneled in with the rockstars and they got the “VIP treatment” (which was just a regular embarkation experience that I’m used to) even though they’re not rockstars. I’m still miffed about this whole thing and I don’t understand why they would change the embarkation experience like that.
Edit: For clarification I still love VV and will return. The staff on this sailing have been absolutely stellar, better than the last two (and they were amazing then too). I was just so shocked with how seemingly chaotic and haphazard this embarkation was when compared to the other experiences I’ve had. The embarkation overall was longer, more hectic, and not as exciting as my last two sailings and that disappointment left a bitter taste in my mouth. I know this is all just a first world problem but I thought was worth making a post since it’s good to be critical of the things we like.
I participated in the drawing for the seven seas sippers and on the paper it says the drawing for the winners is happening today and I am anxious awaiting to hear how it goes. Does anyone know if they post it somewhere or send out emails only to the winners? Maybe they might just be late on the draw. Any info appreciated.
So I know RS/MRS have the ability to swap their in cabin alcohol. My wife and I are not RS/MRS, but we did book the Splash of Romance package, primarily for the early boarding and spa passes. It does come with one "Shake for Champagne". What are the chances I can talk to Sailor Service and swap it for a comparable cost bottle of liquor or even just a credit to our bar tab as neither of us are big champagne drinkers and I'd hate to waste a nice bottle of bubbly making in cabin mimosas. If not, we'll happily drink it, but figured it was worth an ask.
My wife and I are sailing in Jan 2025 and have a Rockstar cabin. I know the bar comes with "Taylored selections based on your tastes" but here is my question... How do I let the staff know what spirits/mixers we would like and what tier is it limited to? For instance if I ask for Bourbon can I ask for a specific like Four Roses or is it their choice?
We're looking at a cruise at the end of December, our son has turned 18 and it would be good to bring him, but at the same time we want to know that he'd be able to go around and do things instead of being joined at the hip to my wife and I.
He's not shy and gets along well in groups, I'm just wondering how many opportunities he'll likely have on ship to meet people and make a couple of friends his age to hang out with.
Was anyone else disappointed upon receiving the prices and packages for the on board "weddings"? Even the basic one is $4,000, I struggle to see how that cost is calculated when it's not even a legally binding service.
I got a strange notification this morning to remind me that the Splash of Romance cocktail party is this evening in The Perch. A little unexpected as we have never done SoR and we are onboard a Celebrity ship right now in the middle of the Atlantic! That being said, it did serve to prompt me to open the app and be reminded that we are 45 days out from our next sailing.
Given that it was now several hours past midnight eastern time, I was not hopeful of getting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. Unless this voyage is nearly empty, the new process seems to have opened up a lot more slots for early booking, and the whole thing is much more streamlined and much faster. I was done in under 10 minutes (5 dinners and 2 brunches).
This was a major pain point and I am impressed at the improvement. Hopefully a sign of things to come for the rest of the app.
We loved our 11 day med cruise recently because we somehow racked up $1800 of on board credit! Granted, some of that was from cancellations and an old style MNVV but it made it extra fun that basically everything was free - we were able to use it to pay for an excursion, some items from the stores, the behind the scenes tour etc. And all drinks. It made the whole thing extra luxurious.
I appreciate VV will never make profit if they kept up that level of free spend, and I know that from next year it's basically non existent, but do you think they'll ever bringing back promotions with generous free credit?
We are basically priced out of the new cruises once we factor in our travel and on board spending, so even $500 bar tab would really help!
Thanks
First time on a cruise and first time traveling internationally (yay!)
I'm a rather paranoid person, so I am trying to get information regarding health practices for cruise ships and the locations (Mexico, Bahamas). CDC recommends bottled water when traveling. With that, I saw Virgin Voyages doesn't allow bottled water. Has anyone had any problems with the water on Virgin Voyages? Or food for that matter? Thanks!
UPDATE: I contacted two different agents via chat, neither were helpful. The first basically didn't believe me and "opened a ticket" that would be reviewed, not giving me a (possible) resolution for 7 days. The second said my First Mate made the booking (not true) and to contact her instead. When I asked for a supervisor, I was told to call. After a 5-minute call, the agent canceled my booking and reinstated the MNVV.
Virgin's customer service is closed for the night, so I'm posting to see if anyone has had a similar issue.
About a month ago, I was doing a mock booking, checking the process to book myself online and use my MNVV. (My TA has been MIA recently, so I wanted to see the process if I booked without her.) I selected a sailing and checked the box or whatever to select MNVV as part of payment, but I know that I did not click Submit or Complete Booking to finalize.
Tonight I'm checking my email and see one from VV stating that my balance is due tomorrow. Looking at my account, it shows a booking for the sailing I was looking into and a $300 paid deposit (from the MNVV). I never finalized this booking and never received a confirmation email.
My question is, when I contact customer service in the morning to cancel, will they reinstate my MNVV? Or is there going to be a problem? (If it matters, it was purchased in September 2023, and is for $300 deposit, $300 off fare and $600 OBC.)
Hi all,
We sailed with Virgin Voyages last year on the Scarlett Lady, staying in a Sea Terrace. As experienced cruisers, we were blown away at how different VV’s style and vibe is, so this time we decided to go for the Seriously Suite on the Resilient Lady.
I have a few questions for those who’ve stayed in the Seriously Suite:
Thanks so much in advance for any tips or insights you can share!
Is it better to get on earlier or later? Is alcohol/food served while at port?
My sister and I (and her husband ) are looking into a VV cruise for my 35th birthday in January 2026.
We like the idea of going on an adults only cruise but we aren't big drinkers at all. Do they have a lot of mocktails we could drink instead?
I also saw someone complained about second hand smoke in a post, is the ship open to smoking every where are their designated areas we could avoid?
My sister is a picky eater, are the main dining restaurants able to accommodate that or would it be best she eat elsewhere?
And last question lol is there Bingo or Trivia, activities like that ? We did these on another cruise and loved it.
Edit: thank you all for the quick reviews and responses. I think we'll book with VV!!!
Anyone been to Lolz Supper Club on the Scarlet Lady ? Is it worth going ? How is the food ? Do they still have the bottomless drink option ? Thanks?
hi - which travel agents offer 1. the most sailor loot; 2. easy to deal with; 3. offer great tips! Thanks in advance!
Cruising in December for the first time on Virgin. I have previously only cruised on Princess. My question is do they email you luggage tags prior to the voyage?
This is my first cruise. Is this cruise line like others where i’d be able to use one of those tricks to get my own alcohol on? Also would Taylor port pass as a ‘wine’ ?.. it’s the appropriate size.
Three days after returning from the cruise this weekend, my partner experienced severe food poisoning symptoms and ended up in hospital. Doctor suspects E. coli. We are really surprised and curious what it could’ve been since we both ate many of the same meals on the boat, and I’m fine. Anyone else dealing with this?
Do they have cable?
Can I cast from my phone to the TV?
What are the movie/TV show options?
I am currently sailing. After a few your I have cold symptoms I think it's from the high levels of smoking irritated my throat. How does the medical bay work? I have travel insurance
