  • Is it at least 25 years old? (1900 - 1999)

If the answer is yes to all three then we all want to hear it.

Peter De Havilland – Shaku (Cause) [UK, Ambient] (1987) Lovely concise ambient track that charmingly misses the bombast of other mid 80s Fairlight productions, composed and recorded by the later producer and soundtrack composer when he was only 17 years of age.

Lord Melody, Mardi Gras Carnival, 1956, Calypso? Trinidad.

Lord Melody was one of the greatest Calypso singers, up there with The Mighty Sparrow. This 17 minute cut is more of an audio documentary than a song -- Lord Melody only sings for a few seconds. It is a brilliant, unique, entrancing recording. Give it two minutes and I think you'll stay for the rest.

Expression - The Letter [USA, Lounge, Rock] (1970) (roughly): A truly ambitious and explosive reworking of the Box Tops classic by this talented and tight Nevada lounge band. Of special note is the fact that multi-instrumentalist Frank Cole hooked his Wah Wah pedal up to his Saxophone for this take.
