I have an Olympus P-400 photo printer, and a substantial amount of supplies (paper, dye ribbons). I have been unable to get it to work with any version of windows I think since Windows 7, but it might have been Windows XP. I'm looking for solutions to be able to get this working so I can use up my supplies. The print quality is actually quite excellent.
I thought perhaps I could get it running using a virtual machine with a Windows 7 instance, but it doesn't appear to like using a virtualized parallel port. I also only have a USB to Parallel cable, which may also be an issue. I was going to try a Windows XP install. I thought I had an installation disk for it still, but have been unable to find it.
I'm looking for suggestions. I have a desktop that I could put a hardware parallel port in if such a thing is available for modern expansion slots.
Hi, i recently found a Intel N440BX motherboard, but i can't find a pair of matching P3s to pair it with except a single offer of two IBM branded P3s (Picture 1) (Picture 2). My question is if these specific models can have clearance issues because of how long the fins of the cooler seems to be and how close the motherboard slots appears to be. I have to order both parts online so i can't just go on and test them by myself before buying anything, but I'd say these motherboards are designed to be compatible with any model and cooler, but i never had these specific models of CPUs in my hands to get a mental idea of how big actually are. Finding other models is a problem since no one seems to have 500Mhz+ CPUs where i live and i don't want to pay ebay scalper prices for two examples. Thanks in advance for the answers.

So Im building a windows 98se pc and I'm trying to make it powerful enough to run any game from that era, as well as some early 2000s games. Ive bought a socket 478 motherboard, a matsonic ms9047c+, and the manual states it has support for pentium 4 with up to 400Mhz fsb. If I used a CPU with a higher FSB than my motherboard supports, would it be totally incompatible, or would the extra FSB simply not be utilized?
Also, would that be totally overkill for this era of gaming? The highest end games I'm hoping to be able to play are things like Morrowind
Data symbol lights up for a sec, and then it sits like this. Nothing works. No corrosion or physical damage.
Good evening everyone!
These are all the operating systems (+ 95 but I honestly dont want to fiddle about with that) that my Compaq EVO N600c's manual mentions about supporting + has drivers for them. A note about 98SE is that Im using a recovery CD which creates a 8GB FAT32 partition. But I found thats not an issue since after the OS got installed, I just boot GParted from a live CD and shrink the partition to 5 GB and create a 2 GB FAT partition before it on the disk.
After this I installed NT 4.0, which I learned needs to be on the first partition, so I install it onto there. Its already a little bothersome that I need to switch the active partition between 98SE and NT since NT does not read FAT32 by default. Even if I update it to SP6 and get the FAT32 fastfat drivers it does not change anything at the boot menu (I also told NT to load it at boot).
At this point its still overall good as I can use both. Windows 2000 install goes well, I create a 7GB NTFS partition and install it there. Its bootloader does not see 98 either as expected, at this point NT 4.0 and 2000 boot just fine. The problem comes when I switch the primary partition over to the 98 one, 98 boots but if I switch it back to the NT or 2k one, NT 4.0 boots up alright but Windows 2000 gives an ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted error.
For switching the active partitions I just use a modified 98SE boot CD that boots into DOS.
Im honestly too tied to again sit through install screens, so Im asking here: Is it possible to get this setup going? Can I do it by being smart with the partitioning or should I just use a third party bootloader if its possible? Thank you for your time!
Hi, I'm looking for period correct (so around 2003-2006) 2.1 speakers that were really good back in the day, have EAX certificate and go along "nicely" with my sound blaster audigy 2 zs sound card. By nicely I mean maybe a digital input? I am on the lookout for Creative Inspire 2800 that have 1 digital and two analog inputs, they're 2.1 and not too big which is good for limited space. Are those any good? Any recommendations?
Many thanks.
While waiting for the latest upgrade, I updated my life time list of systems since 1982. I thought it might be fun for others that have been growing up when personal computers arrived. I was 12 years old when I got my Spectrum... Maybe post your own list?
I have a pc with ms dos 6.22 and wfw 3.11 installed and with a linksys lne100tx for a network card. I know for a fact that this card works in windows 2000 and it has dos and windows 3 drivers and also has previously worked in dos as I had dos previously on this pc. Now when I boot into dos it shows the IRQ and Ethernet address as all FFs and gives an error about DHCP when booting wfw. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Found this old promotional (?) Photo in a box of old pics at my job, any idea what this setup is?
Building used to have a couple electronics companies, one was building server racks and such, and one was building high end pelican type cases afaik
What’s a good era appropriate PCI video card for a Pentium 200? For Win 9X gaming of course. :)
