Victorinox for someone growing vegetables

Hi all!

It is about time my dad gets his first victorinox for xmas. He loves gardening and growing (and eating) tomatoes, courgettes, eggplants, cauliflowers, etc.

Which model can I get for him that can really be useful?

Is the Budding and Pruning Knife 3 a good idea, has anyone had it?

Thanks!

New or old models?

Do you prefer the older models or current production? Which do you think are better?

Spartan carriers, why did you choose it over other saks?

I was considering some SAK models and which situation they would be perfect for, they I realized the Spartan model doesn't seem to be particularly outstanding when compared to other sak options.

Of course the Spartan has Vic's quality and I'm pretty sure it's an amazing knife in itself, but I wonder why would some one choose a Spartan among other options? What am I overlooking?

Any comments are welcome, thank you all!

What are these spots in the button of Wine Master? Thought they were defects or wear but found them in every video of these knives even unboxing new ones!

Vagabond with Pen in Blue

My favorite 58mm toolset, the Vagabond is long discontinued. They occasionally pop up on Ebay.

The Vagabond adds two tools to the Rambler from the Minichamp - orange peeler and wharncliffe blade.

Originally, it did not come with a pen. I've added pen scales here.

The Vagabond is very ergonomic. Holding the knife at the bottom, the closest tool on the left always opens out away from you, and the closest tool on the right always opens down toward you.

On the brand side you have the classic tools (scissors on one side, blade and SD file on the other). On the back side, the closest tools are the newer tools (combi Phillips on one side, emergency blade and orange peeler on the other).

So it's very easy to "know where you are" in this knife. Compare the Minichamp, where I always have to hunt for the tool I want.

NKD: Victorinox Huntsman (Along with Leatherman Curl). Great tools which complement each other with minimal redundancy.

Victorinox Huntsman and Leatherman Curl. The only reduntant tools are the awl (Leatherman's awl is better) and the Bottle and Can openers (Victorinox's bottle and can openers are better).

My EDC contains a pen, so is there an aftermarket tool that could take the place of the pen on a cybertool? Anything useful?

Am I cooked?

I had to mail my favorite cybertool to myself at the SLC airport Today because I forgot to check it. Says it could take 3-8 weeks to get to me, and that's if I managed to fill out the paperwork right in a hurry??! Has anyone ever had to do this, and did you get your knife back?
