Name this gourd?

Got this gourd/squash at the farmer’s market and the person selling was unsure of the name. Curious if anyone knows. My plant ID app just says “American Pumpkin.”

Last pepper harvest of the season.

Other than some herbs and a few turnips, this concludes the season. Can we just skip winter and get spring already?! 😃

Storing root vegetables over the winter

I like stocking up on root veggies either from growing them or when there is a good sale. Mostly winter squashes. The problem is my basement is heated and I live in the Midwest. Is there a good way to store these for a few months?

I was wondering if there is some kind of temp controlled heating pad I could use in the garage and set up some contraption (like an insulated box with the heating pad with temp control). Maybe this isn't practical as it is below freezing a fair amount here.

Vegetable lovers - are there any veggies you simply can't eat?

For me its sprouts. They're one of the few vegetables I've ever tried in my life that I can't get on with.

Last Poblano pepper harvest of the season...a few last okra, too.

These poblabo peppers will be dehydrated and turned into ancho chilis to be used later for probably tamales. Other types of harvest to soon follow.

Gourds for Wedding

My fiance and I have a wedding on November 15th in the hills of New Jersey.

We are hoping to buy 22 large decorative gourds to place on tables.

If we buy them now, will they rot in the next three weeks? Or will they be ok?

Would it be useful to refrigerate them, or wipe them with a bleach mixture?

Finally - will gourds still be available to buy at farmers markets if we buy them on Nov 13?

Thank you for the advice and I hope this is the right place to post!

Edit: specify decorative gourds.

Today's harvest.

The onion tops will be dehydrated to add to the green onion powder. The okra will be added to the rest of the dehydrated okra. The jalapeno peppers will be added to the last harvested jalapeno peppers, Thai chili peppers and some tomatoes, garlic and onions and roasted over open flame to make roasted hotsauce (new flavor I'm trying), The poblano peppers and bell pepper will be dehydrated and added to existing bottles of that... and those 2 little chard leaves? Well they got added to my salad I'm eating lol. ❤️

Preserving Vegetable Art?

Weird question, I know. Recently my friend was gifted an onion with it's outer skin painted on. It looks really beautiful, but now we're wondering if there's a way to preserve it for a long time so that it doesn't rot away. Any ideas? Or better yet, anyone have any experience making vegetable art?

How can you tell the difference between healthy carrot stem and black rot?

Can't tell the difference between normal carrot having black at the crown stem area and black rot.

What vegetable is this?

I bought this thinking it was a light green courgette but realised it the end with the stem didn't look courgette-like!
