“We live in a culture that has institutionalized the oppression of animals on at least two levels: in formal structures such as slaughterhouses, meat markets, zoos, laboratories, and circuses, and through our language. That we refer to meat eating rather than to corpse eating is a central example of how our language transmits the dominant culture's approval of this activity.”

I'm doing a uni essay where I get the opportunity to write about veganism so thought I'd do it on how men navigate their genders and sexualities. What personality traits do you believe most vegan men posess? And how would you say they relate their diet to their masculinity/femininity?
Hey everyone. I’m new to intersectionality and trying to come to an understanding of what exactly it is. Am I correct in saying that the general idea is that all oppression is related to each other. For example, we are unable to live in a society without racism while we still have sexism? Likewise, we will be unable to achieve animal liberation if women are oppressed?
I appreciate any help!
Thanks, Jack
I looked for this group because I figured I'd be eviscerated for mentioning it there... but I feel extremely disheartened as a woman who works 70+ hrs a week in a movement made up by over 80% women (and non-binary folks) to have white cis men always be the face of our movement. Like seriously barf....................
Nothing against the men fighting for total animal liberation, obviously, I'm glad they're out there trying to use their privilege to make a difference. But it's extremely obnoxious that like most other social justice movements, women are overwhelmingly the ones doing the work for total animal liberation and men are the ones getting recognized for it. Just a thought...
