for context, i went to a different school my first two years of hs, and this is what i wrote in the additional info section abt it:
I attended N/A for my freshman year and the majority of my sophomore year, with my last month being at N/A2. I had rising mental health needs coming out of the pandemic, and needed a smaller learning environment at the time due to said needs. However, at N/A no foreign language or AP classes were offered, and though I did my best to academically challenge myself with the few honors courses available, the class offerings were limited. While I successfully transitioned back to N/A3 (public hs) in the start of my Junior year, and have been thriving socially and academically, I did end up having to take Spanish 1 Honors as a Junior.
wrote my essay abt a trip to walden pond and the idea of the transparent eyeball from ralph waldo emerson, and learning to accept truth rather than impose my will over what i want truth to be
wrote my vassar sup abt my congregation and the focus it has on intentional community building, especially when doing so is hard or inconvenient (should mention its unitarian universalist, which is a social justice oriented non-creedal religion.)
im happy to send my writing to anyone whos interested!
idk if i should include anything else lol, but do yall think i got a shot at ED1?
edit: wanna mention i have 4 rec letters, my chem teacher, my AP lang teacher and philosophy club advisor (knows me RLLY well and is a big fan), my reverend, and a prof at rowan that i took a class from during summer 2023
I’ve been looking at Vassar at a while and am very interested what are the chances I could get in? I’m a junior btw i would probably wanna study bio or maybe down the education path or smth
-GPA: 4.86 -APs: 6 (three 5s, two 4s, and one 3) -currently in the IB program so the classes im taking are all IB
-interned with school district helping special ed teachers -over 400+ volunteer hours -volunteered more than 100 hours at an art summer camp -also in xc and track (i don’t think i’m good enough to be recruited though lol)
i have 4 as and 2 bs but I take the IB program. I am captain of varsity soccer, I box on the side. I am a student ambassador for my school and I am the president and founder of a small club. I have also interned at Asia society. I am a part of 3 honor societies. I also have trained someone for a school play. I have been reached out to by the Vassar soccer coach. Do I even have a chance?
I’m curious as to what Vassar students submitted in their “your space” portion of their apps. I’m thinking of applying ED and am not sure what I want to include in this area. Thank you!!!
hey! not sure if this is the place to ask this, but I'm applying to vassar as a questbridge finalist.
i see there is the option for the "your space," as well as a portfolio submission. i want to submit my artwork... should i submit it as part of the "your space," or as a portfolio? if anyone who applied before and got accepted/is a current student has any advice, specifically in applying w a visual arts portfolio, id appreciate it :3
I am an aid seeking international student who is considering applying to Vassar for ED. It would be really helpful if I could get some help for the following: The Ed acceptance rate is higher does that also apply for aid seeking internationals? Or do they get deferred? What does the avg aid package look like? (For internationals) General overview of the college and area around campus.
How is Economics and data science major at Vassar? Is faculty too strict or friendly? How is dorms? do they have parking lot for students? How is the collehe town?
Vassar banned first years from parking on campus for this year. This came as a complete surprise and a real disappointment. Anyone know of any place to park near campus? Or any other workaround to keep a car on campus?
I am a high school senior looking at colleges and I would love to ask a few questions. Thanks in advance.
HS GPA: super bad lmao
Community College GPA First Year Transfer: 3.7 SAT: 1500
First-Gen, Classified as Low Income, Undiagnosed learning disabilities + bad home environment caused bad GPA
i dont rlly know my chances considered my HS is bad and I struggled in college rn because im still getting help for my adhd and possible dyslexia.
Hi, I might apply to Vassar, but I'm not completely sure yet. One of my make or break things is whether there's an opportunity to participate in tech for theater productions-- lighting, sound, set design, stage management, stagehanding, etc.. Not courses on it, specifically, but just productions where people help with tech. I couldn't find anything online about whether it's a thing students do at Vassar, so I figured I'd ask here. I assume so, since there's theater. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m not a vassar student, I’m currently enrolled in my first year at a similarly selective liberal arts school in the Midwest. I’m looking to transfer into Vassar, preferably for the spring semester. I know the transfer acceptance rate for most schools is different depending on what semester you apply for, would anyone happen to know the acceptance rate for spring semester transfers?
also if any transfers have any tips let me know (EC's, GPA/SAT, Essays)
I want to do ED, but I’m concerned they’ll come back higher than the net price calculator and I’ll be buried in debt. Is there any way for them to meet the calculator? If so, how can I prove the calculator was lower? Thanks!
Hey, I'm a senior in high school and am looking into colleges right now. I know that I want to do film, but it's proving hard to figure out what programs are hands on, and which are theory based. What I've read points to Vassar's program being largely theory based, but for anyone who's done the film major there, how many hands on opportunities/production courses would you say there were?
Hi! I am looking into applying to Vassar for transfer, a major reason I am looking to do so is the athlete culture at my current institution. The overall feel of the college is very much like a larger school with D1 sports. The athletes are very much Athlete-Students not Student-Athletes, if that makes sense. What I am getting at is, are the athletes at Vassar, students before athletes or athletes before students, and can you tell who is an athlete based off of their vibe, friend group, and/or cliqueyness? I am also wondering about the queer student life, what is the college like from a queer student's perspective? Are queer people the majority, and do they feel welcomed/are they welcomed and treated as equal/not the minority?
Hi! I'm trying to decide where to apply. I have multiple chronic conditions that would cause me to be unable to room with someone. I won't go into details but its severe enough that, despite people saying its important to have a roommate your Freshman year, I am confident that its not possible for me.
I know that you can apply for a single with accommodations, but I had another question in addition to that. Are there floors with singles that have bathrooms that are single-use only? As in, you enter, lock the door, and then its just you?
Also, if I do go to Vassar and end up in a single, how much would my social life suffer? I would do my best to put myself out there.
Also also, if you're a chronically ill or physically disabled Vassar student, how have you been treated? Is there an accommodations officer who will talk to professors if they don't accommodate you? And is the school generally a place where disabled students feel comfortable in terms of their classmates? The current school I go to has students that stole my friend's cane and laughs at me when I'm having a fainting spell, so I'm not sure it could get much worse than that, but I'd still like to ask.
Thank you for reading this, and I hope this doesn't sound too presumptuous. I'm not assuming I would get in, but if I do apply, I want to know in advance what it would be like. Thank you.
Hello, I'm a current high school senior thinking about applying early decision to Vassar College. Obviously it's a great school, and I recently toured and loved the campus, but I was curious about the student perspective. Do you like Vassar? How do you feel about the social scene? Any Pros and cons?
Do you know if there's a way for students to synch-up and arrange to share rides home? For example, if a student is heading home to Boston on a given weekend, is there a way for them to find other Bostonians who might want to join them for the ride?
This is probably a long shot, but wondered if there might be any current Vassar students or recent alums who might be interested in holding a Korean class for my two young children ages 7 and 4. Could be a mix of in-person (I live in Garrison) and online. Please DM. Thanks.
Might be a hot take here, but after two years in Jewett I deliberately picked a single in Raymond. I've heard from many people that Raymond singles are bigger, and I don't care about the condition of the place lol––it's college. I know it's basically time to move in anyways, but I thought it'd be worth reaching out regardless to see if anyone's got photos of Raymond singles :)
We recently moved near Vassar and the house came with a pair of brand-new Sealy queen-size mattresses. We’re keeping one for a guest bed but don’t need the other.
DM or reply if interested
Hey everyone, I'm going to be visiting a family member in Poughkeepsie for a month starting in September. I was thinking of getting a gym membership and saw she lives really close to vasser college which has a fitness center. Does anyone know if the general public can pay for day passes or a monthly fee to use the facilities or are they reserved for students and staff only? Thanks in advance!
I’m an incoming freshman at a school I’m not happy at. I made the choice because of prestige and have regretted it the whole summer and wished I’d chosen Vassar. They were about the same price and my parents were okay with choosing either one but I felt as though I didn't have a choice because everyone told me I would stupid to turn down the college I'm now attending. I’m not sure about getting a refund of my tuition from my current school (I think we did tuition insurance) but would it even be possible to change my decision and commit to another school so late? Like would they make any such allowance of such a late commitment? I plan on applying as a spring transfer but I just want to know if there’s any possible hope that I could do anything to change my situation before then. If I email them is there any tiny chance I get a response that isn’t a flat no telling me to apply for the spring? I know this is likely a lost cause but I'm not one to just sit around without trying.
Hi, I've made a list with general items that I've heard that are recommended for moving in to your dorm as a freshman, but I was wondering if any upperclassmen can put any vassar-specific item recommendations down below!
I’m renewing my dusty old laptop and I was wondering if there were any suggestion of specs for incoming freshmen looking to major in CS? I’m thinking of getting a windows one and probably beefy enough to run most modern games (I need to play elden peak)
Hi! I'm an incoming freshman and I am wondering if class lists have been released yet. I saw a post on the vassar2028 Instagram story that made it seem like schedules had been released, but when I logged into AskBanner it said "schedule will not be released until confirmed registration". I completed the pre-registration items before the deadline, please let me know if anyone else is experiencing this or if I am right to be worried.
