Already tried the Hoyne, Daagerard,Deschutes and Steamworks fresh hops. What else is available and where can I find them?
Massive shout out to the organizers and volunteers that put on BC Beer Awards. A well executed and enjoyable event!
2024 was a pretty amazing year for fun, flavourful and innovative beers.
Here is the list of all the winners
I'll be visiting downtown Vancouver and Victoria this weekend. What breweries should I check out? I've been to Barnside in Delta and Hoyne in Victoria previously. They were fantastic, and I'm open to any style of beer. Not too big on sours though. Bonus point if there's food or pizza nearby.
Do I get $1 off growler fills on Saturday 2:40pm?
I love a good double IPA with a piney taste. Four Winds has Greg, but not many stores carry it. I used to drink Studio Brewing's Take My Money but they took it off the menu (and are now obviously shut down).
Is there anything else similar in that space still around?
TIA
Hey fellow craft beer enthusiasts,I wanted to share some pictures of my collection of Phillips Brewing special releases and core beers. These bottles have been a cherished part of my sticker collection for years, but I might have to part with them, and it’s really bumming me out.I've been trying to find a safe way to remove the stickers without damaging them, but so far, no luck. Do any of you have tips or methods that have worked for preserving labels?Additionally, I have about 3 kilograms of other stickers that I’ve collected over the last decade. Any creative ideas on what I could do with them? Thanks in advance for your help!Cheers! 🍻
Do any local breweries make a really good hefe weissbier along the lines of Weihenstephaner, Ayinger, Paulaner?
Or do you think these styles are best left to the classic German brewers?
I picked up Sartori Harvest, Maple Bay from Squamish, and Container's fresh hop at High Point. Anyone seen any others around?
Hello! Making a short trip to Vancouver this weekend from Calgary. Would love to hit a brewery or two. I’m a big craft beer drinker. The catch is that my partner is a non drinker. He’s very patient with my interest in beer and actually often enjoys the vibes at craft breweries. But it’s still a huge plus if a brewery has more to offer than just beer. This includes non alcoholic offerings (very interested in craft alcohol free beers, craft sodas, mocktails etc) but also aspects like a fun atmosphere, a cool space or location, good food, places where people bring dogs, etc.
Suggestions? We are staying downtown, no car, don’t want to go too distant but willing to take transit for a reasonable time. As beers go I am into IPAs, sours, pales.
I absolutely loved the cream ale from Begbie Brewing (Revelstoke) on a recent trip. But now I'm out of what I brought home.
Any place in Vancouver/Burnaby/Coquitlam where it's available? Or ship from somewhere (and not pay like $20-$30 for shipping)?
I'm looking at Untapped and not seeing anything.
Was the old Andina space leased by a brewery or is it going to become something else?
Any of you beer folks have an extra ticket to get rid of for the Saturday night event? DM me! Thanks.
It's that delicious malty time...
Who is making the good marzens and where can I find them? Any seasonal dunkels as a consolation prize?
Hi everyone! Which breweries are producing pumpkin beers in the lower mainland and which stores have the best supply/variety of pumpkin beers on hand?

Been there a couple of times over the last 6 months and the beer variety/quality seems kind of middle of the road. Lots of samey lagers and color and shape. No stouts or anything particularly different.
The food is really poor (24 dollar nachos I got recently were baked to powder in the oven, which is bad even for a brewery)
Maybe it's my imagination or I should leave it longer before going again but the wow factor is definitely gone.
I would just like to say that I witnessed the owner/bar manager at Britannia brewing in Ladner throw a plate at a patrons back as they tried to walk out of the etablishment this past Sunday. He threw it with enough force to completely smash the front glass window of the brewery.
This event was posted about in the local community facebook group but it has since been deleted.
Bullingy of staff was also reported that day.
There are plenty of quality breweries that dont bully staff and assult customers.
Looking for recommendations or resources to figure out which breweries / shops to go to in the 2024.
If so, where?
Press release just came out.
A 35% rent increase at their current space has forced their hand. Taproom will close September 14th, brewery November 1st.
A small test batch facility (10% of the space of their current brewery) will remain on site for limited distribution (and for maintaining their manufacturing license.)
17 operational positions are being eliminated in the process, 15 sales, marketing, finance, and admin positions are being retained.
Hermannator will be the last release for their current facility but will continue to be brewed out of Phillips along with all of their other beers.
Went sober for many years and now coming back to drinking again… I left when IPAs and sours were beginning to become meta, craft beer culture was still growing, maybe starting to peak…
Now in 2024, it seems like the bubble has burst. I read that a lot of people are going back to simple clean macro beers, which makes sense on a connoisseur full circle journey.
Curious about the state of the culture right now. What’s currently being appreciated? What’s going to trend in the future? Is everything done now, and there’s no novelty possible? How do you currently feel about craft beer culture in Vancouver?
Someone asked me recently about them, and I cannot find anything that tells me they are in fact brewing on site...anyone know anything?
They seem to just be a restaurant as best I can tell, but: https://bc.thegrowler.ca/breweries/dockside-brewing-co/
If you went to a stadium to watch professional sports and there was a solid line up of local craft to offer, would you consider ordering a flight if it was served in a tidy little option as seen in the photo. Keeping in mind the beer prices at the average stadium these days
We’ll say that a 16oz IPA is selling for $12, Would you pay $14 for a flight of 4 x 4oz if they were all great options?
In my world… every season is stout season!!
To celebrate the 3rd anniversary of The Barley Merchant, we’ve just tapped this killer list of big, bold and boozy brews for an annual event we call The Dark Days of Summer!
The “Round One” line up has got some serious heavy hitters in the mix with more on deck for Round Two.
If you could only put four on your flight out of all eight, which ones would you choose?!
Also, check out the latest edition of Tap Talks where I chat with my rockstar beverage director Josh as we sample our way through the round one flight.
