I have tried a few exit points both with p.i.a. and moulvad, before realizing that my rclone copy to/from Google Drive scripts were failing due precisely to usage of VPN (i.e once disabled, with direct Internet access, all was fine), with:
"Post "https://oauth2.googleapis.com/token": write tcp [source IP]:<local port number>->[dest IP]:443: write: broken pipe"
Has anyone noticed similar behavior?
Sorry for the typos /s
I have concerns about VPN. How effective they are. How trustworthy the providers are. And whether it’s even needed for what I do online. How would people rate a paid VPN to the free TOR browser?
does anyone have any experiencing setting up vpn's on Ipfire?
Networking is not my strong point, but im often surprised how far I get with things. I spend a lot of time away and my goal is to be able to access my home network from my laptop. I have searched and not found much, are there many good hot-tos for this setting?
I notice providers are offering a private IP to some users so they can access sites that block VPNs. But does that negate the anonymity of browsing? Presumably that IP is linked to me in the providers database and should other people either government or hackers hack the provider they could identify my IP right?
Hi all,
I’m trying to share my VPN connection from my Android phone to my Xiaomi box via hotspot. I’m using OpenVPN to connect to the VPN, Is there a way to share my VPN connection with the Xiaomi box without rooting my phone? Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful!
Thanks!
Question for people who are VPN users. I mainly use mine to trick apps like Netflix that I’m out of country and have access to more shows or movies 🤣 is there an app or site for like, on Mexico VPN Netflix there’s this movie and show, on Canada Netflix there’s this etc etc.
How significant is browser fingerprinting? I can't figure out what web services perform browser fingerprint, how hard is it to implement them and how sophisticated are they.
Like do regular websites of small-medium sized companies which offer some kind of web/internet service use browser fingerprinting or is it mainly big tech businesses like facebook, linkedin, google, microsoft etc.?
What's the legality of it? Turning off javascript to browse the web these days is just not an option these days unless I want to read internet forums from 2000s..
i have read the rules.
One of the big VPNs recently released a new protocol that mimics regular traffic and bypass advanced network filters. Is this just a marketing strategy, or do you think there's something to it?
For as long as I've worked here I've used a VPN on my phone and on laptop. Just now I noticed their firewall must be blocking my laptop from connecting to the VPN service and not my phone. I've tested my phone for leaks and all show good. My question is. Is the certificate not secure message I get when trying to connect through corp firewall via wifi or bad certs on my laptop running Linux. For context I only use my personal devices on breaks to watch shows and YouTube that they block.
Hello everybody,
I am currently working on my thesis at home with a Computer from my university.
One of my programs needs to reconnect to the university network due to license issues.
The university recommends the use of cisco anyconnect, which however does not run under windows 7 (i know, no comment ;D).
I downloaded a few other VPNs but it seems their only function is to give you a random ip-adress.
Does anyone know an alternative i can use?
Many Tranks in advance
Hi, everyone! I'm sort of new to this VPN stuff, so hopefully someone can answer this for me.
My (20f) parents are very religious, and I'm pretty sure that they have some sort of parental control system on our home wifi. (My brother is still underage, so I doubt they've removed it, or that they would remove it. Poor guy is 16 and still has a parental control app that bricks a lot of stuff on his phone.) Would a VPN be able to bypass this in any way? I really just want to be able to read more mature fanfic without having to worry about them breathing down my back about it. I don't really know how any systems they have in place work, so sorry I can't be much help in that regard.
Thanks to anyone who has any ideas/help!
So when I'm trying to use a VPN on my work computer (using my work wifi) as an extension in my browser (Firefox and Chrome) my browser will act like I have no internet. When I use the same VPN on my phone on the same network my phone works fine. Any ideas why this is happening? And if there's anything I can do to fix it?
I will be traveling to a country where this website I need for work blocks the use of VPN and shows:
"Error 403, Access Forbidden You don't have permission to access this page"
I'm able to access it without VPN in the US, but I'll need VPN when I travel. The customer support of the site has also let me know that this country I'm going to is under its list of blocked countries, so I won't be able to access it without a VPN.
I've used three different VPN providers and neither have been able to help me with this. I contacted them and we did a lot of things:
Cleared cache
Used different servers
Changed the protocol
Used different browser
At this point I don't know what else to do. Any other recommendations are welcome.
DeepSeek came out barely a day ago and has already became so controversial, it earned a ban in Italy, possibly soon being restricted in more and more regions and countries. Internet users are already looking for ways on how to unblock DeepSeek.
What is DeepSeek?
DeepSeek is a Chinese made artificial intelligence (AI) model. It claims to be faster, get better responses and is completely free. Moreover, it is open-source. It states to give users responses faster than its rivals and that it can compete with more advanced tools globally, even the close-sourced ones.
Why is DeepSeek blocked?
Some AI services, including DeepSeek, impose regional restrictions due to licensing agreements, government regulations, or company policies. Similar to how users have accessed Grok AI or Meta AI from restricted regions using a VPN, the same applies to DeepSeek.
How to unblock DeepSeek?
For those wanting to access DeepSeek, there is an easy way with using a VPN. A VPN allows you to virtually change your location, encrypt your traffic by making it more secure and bypass geo-restrictions.
Step by step guide on how to access DeepSeek
Using a VPN is a proven method to unblock AI tools like DeepSeek, Grok AI, and Meta AI. If you want to give it a go or haven't yet had the chance to check out DeepSeek, you can definitely do so with a VPN and do it securely.
Lets say on instagram as example when you post reels yoy will get views based in where you are posting from Im wondering if i got to use vpn before posting will it change the reagion of the viewers?
Hi all,
So I was wondering... if I have one machine on my network and it is using a VPN, and other machines that are not, how can I connect to the VPN using machine to pull data off of it or to use programs on it from my other machines? Do I just need the VPN ip and remote in as normal?
I want to prevent an individual from using any kind of vpn from their device as it slows down the inteifor everyone using the wifi.I have access to his/her phone from which he/she uses vpn. Is there any way i can permanently disable vpn from that phone?
Does it make your computer more likely to be prone to "attacks" or be more visible?
I want to watch a movie, but it isn't available on ANY streaming services in my country, so I was wondering if I would be able to set my VPN to another country and rent it that way. Anyone have experience with this on prime video specifically?
Hi guys,
I'm British and I live in Germany, its been a few years and I really miss the tv shows I used to watch at home!
I heard of a VPN and I'm curious how it works, I want to watch things like BBC and similar on my smart TV, I can download apps on my tv.
I just don't understand how it works, is it also an app? Can I use it on my iPad too? Phone?
I'm sorry 😂

I recently had to switch to my laptop full time because of a problem with my PC (PSU, unrelated to internet speed or anything of the sort).
Somehow, my VPN worked great on my PC tower (a little bit slower, but not by much). However, when switching to my laptop, it's unusable. From 120mbps DL and 20mbps UL I'm falling at 0.5 something on each. I have trouble loading simple webpages. Since my use is primarily to download large files, it's currently a huge hindrance.
The laptop is plugged directly (same ethernet wire as the PC tower previously). I have tried two different VPNs, with the same result. I did a connection reset on the modem. I restarted the computer. I also switched to wireless just in case (strong signal, same room). To no avail.
Is there something to verify I'm not seeing here? I could do with 30% of the usual speed, but right now we're talking of way less than 1% of the usual speed, which renders the VPN useless.
Hi everyone,
I have a Synology DS224+ running a Home Assistant container. I don't want to expose my NAS to the internet but when I'm away from home I want to access my Home Assistant dashboard through my Android phone. To do this I have set up a VPN Server on my NAS which works perfectly fine. The problem is that I'm also using a commercial VPN on my cellphone, so I can't connect to my VPN server unless I disable the commercial VPN. Is there a way to do this?
Thank you in advance!
What Browser Extensions allow Web-RTC disabling in their settings so that there are no traffic leaks when using a VPN?
Hi all,
Just reaching out to see if anyone has any recommendations for my mobile hotspot tethering while on site away from office or home wifi.
We currently use Hamachi peer tunnel. If I am at home, it works flawlessly over home wifi. If I am at the office, I can use it or just log into our drive which the PC is registered to via the works own server.
However, if I try to use my iPhone 16 plus as a mobile hot spot, it almost never works. I've allowed the program through fire wall and created inbound rules. It seems my hotspot method will connect to the app, but it's like it's blocking the incoming traffic back to it. But, if I take my SIM out of my iPhone a put it into my older s20 ultra, it also work fine. Just seems to be an iPhone problem.
Unfortunately my IT and apple cannot help and keep saying it's a carrier issue. But this is not the case because it works fine on my Samsung. Ive also tried rotating and fixed IP on iPhone as well as the compatibility setting. Nothing works long term.
Today I double checked all laptop settings for allowing inbound hamachi, switched to my hotspot and it worked. Resetted the laptop, and then it doesn't. Any suggestions?
My fiance and I like watching a French show, but the channel that's producing it is blocking it on YouTube (they're not giving us any other way to watch the show and they don't even rebroadcast it). We used to be able to bypass that connecting our VPN to a UK server, but it has recently stopped working. The videos are still on YouTube, but they don't play anymore. I've tried several countries, but I can't seem to find a country that works.
How can I know in which countries the video are available, if any?
I am in Japan and using VPN to connect UK and watch UK shows (big fan). However whenever I see a show on Google TV streaming on a different app from whichever I already own, I can't download them due to error: this item isn't available in your country from Google store. (Such as ITVX app) Isn't my IP from UK at that moment? Do you know what is going on and how to fix it?
I'm living in an area where widescale internet censorship may soon become reality. I thought about cheap and dirty way to ensure a way into external network for myself at least. First that came to mind is SSH which already support SOCKS proxing natively, so renting the cheapest linux vps which will already come with SSH server installed is enough. I also hope that at least at first they won't go for service protocols like that and will try to suppress the regular way people circumvent censorship (VPN solutions of all kinds).
My main question is this: assuming I ensure that name resolution will always happen through proxy and no direct connections to internet will be possible from that machine, is there still a way for intermediate observer to learn for sure that I use SOCKS protocol over my SSH connection (thus probably misusing it for the means of bypassing censorship)? I mean, only by checking the packages that are sent back and forth, including DPI techniques - is there anything that will disclose that it's not a regular linux console commands that are transferred over it?
