I’m currently doing my diploma right now and looking to go do my bachelors in the future at VIU. What was ur experience?
Hi just wondering who is teaching research methods (pscyh 204) at VIU this spring of 2025? It's a class I need to enter 3rd year but I've put it off because there's a teacher that is just really too intense with this course. Hoping for good news lol. Thanks 😊
Hey how’s it going, was wondering if anyone else hear is gonna be attending the Cowichan trade centre in Duncan for march 2025, I’m going in for HVAC and was wanting to talk to some people and just have a few people I know as I’m gonna be coming from Winnipeg Manitoba.
Hello! I’ve applied for a BA in psychology and got a conditional acceptance. Wondering how the on-campus housing is price-wise, and community-wise. Does anyone recommend it? How is the meal plan?
singing about cumshots on phone screens or something, I was so dumfounded what was going on who gave her the microphone
Trying to get people to come out for clubs and events on campus is so difficult.
Student engagement at VIU is really difficult, I keep getting told that it's not like that at other universities.
And I know from doing other events that getting people to come out in Nanaimo is really hard in general. So it could just be a Nanaimo thing.
But what do you think?
has anyone had a scholarship from VIU that required you to have a certain amount of credits but ended up dropping a course that led them to not have the correct amount of credits after the semester was paid for? currently thinking about dropping a class but not sure if i will have to pay back the amount that was paid for lol
23/f tired of studying at the library alone. doing upgrading right now but starting bachelor of biology hopefully next fall.
I have assignments that need to be handed in today but my power is out at home. Does the library have power?
WorldVIU days is coming up and I’m wondering if anyone knows any Balkan people like Bulgarian Serbian Albanian Greek Bosnian Montenegrin North Macedonian etc??

Hey guys I’m a graduate from VIU about a year ago and was wondering if graduates still have access to the VIU library database for scholarly research articles?
I can’t remember how to find that website with all the links on their homepage. If anyone has info on this or has a link to the site, it would be much appreciated!
I’m asking because I wanted to use that old resource I had for research purposes.

This Friday, let’s come together in a powerful show of support for Harriette Mackenzie, a proud trans athlete and valued member of our community, who has courageously stood up against discrimination in sports. We’ll gather at her game to cheer her on, remind her that she’s not alone, and show that queer, trans, and nonbinary people belong in every space, including sports.
Wear your pride gear and help us fill the stands with love and solidarity! Tickets are $6 per person or two for $10 at the door. Let’s show Harriette that her community stands with her, every step of the way.
Let's meet at the gym ay 5:30pm
I have an offer from VIU Bss and I was looking at the timetable to see which courses are offered in which terms and I didn’t see all of the 300 courses and most of the 400 courses there. Any students here who can share their experience in that program? Will talk to an advisor tomorrow but wanted to hear from someone in the math major
Participation in this research includes completing various questionnaires through the platform “SurveyMonkey”, which takes a few minutes to complete. These questionnaires are used to gather information about LGBTQ+ associations on Canadian campuses and related psychological factors. LGBTQ+ associations are defined as groups, clubs, organizations, or societies on university or high school campuses. LGBTQ+ associations may include Gay-Straight Alliances, pride groups, or pride centers. Participation includes electronically completing several questionnaires, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes to an hour to complete. Your participation is entirely voluntary and will contribute to the understanding of how LGBTQ+ associations influence Canadian university students. Participant Requirements: Must be 19+, enrolled in a Canadian university, identify as LGBTQ+, and live in Canada. Wondering what the student health services are like at VIU. I have a diagnosis from my home country and a history of medication for inattentive adhd.
Would appreciate on some pointers to streamline the process of transferring my diagnosis over to Vancouver island and Canada as a whole.
Thanks

Hey, does anyone know a free place to find the “becoming an active reader (3rd Ed)” by Eric Henderson text book ?
Is anyone else feeling extremely frustrated that VIU is refusing to fix their ID card issue at the library? Recently students have been leaving the doors propped open so that student can have access to the library… and yesterday around noon one of the security guards went out instructing students to not prop open the doors or else VIU will restrict complete access to the library on the weekends.
One of the other students spoke up and suggested that VIU is purposely locking and therefore mitigating access to the library because of the encampment. The security guard began yelling at the student and claimed that VIU has only been having this issue with the library doors for the last week… when in fact this has been occurring since the beginning of the semester.
Myself and many other students have sent emailed to VIU asking them to resolve the issue with the key cards not opening the library doors and we have not once gotten a response.
I am just so frustrated over this issue because as students we are literally paying for this service and VIU is purposely not fixing this issue.
Hey everyone,
I'm currently in the process of starting an investment club here at VIU. The club aims to provide members with:
We are currently seeking to fill the following executive positions (would look great on your resume):
If anyone is interested feel free to sign up using this form or email me at investment.club@viusa.ca
I swear if I have to learn about climate change and the environment one more time…. I’m gonna lose it. When I first I applied I thought “ouuu globalization, international relations and government”. NO. All I’m learning is ecological footprint and environmental stuff. I honestly don’t care about that crap at all. So I changed my major to political science, I looked at the courses and it’s perfect for international relations and affairs and you learn about the United Nations and NGOS. What I’m mad about is that I didn’t do this sooner, instead I wasted money on classes I couldn’t care less about and I’m already in my second year. I don’t want to take an extra semester, I want to graduate with my friends. VIU barely offers classes in the summer (or at least the important ones) so I might ask if I can take online courses at TRU and get those credits transferred so I don’t feel behind.
I’m noticing lots of global studies students are transferring their major or minor to political science now.

Hello. I am going into my first year at VIU next September from Vancouver. I know that Nanaimo isn't as populated as Vancouver, where you can do anything anytime. It seems to me that Nanaimo is quite the opposite. I know there are nice sceneries such as the hikes and the beaches/parks. Although, I was wondering what a typical evening would look like for you. Or what do you do on the weekends?
I am coming this January to VIU and wanted to see social events, parties, or any clubs. I am brand new and would love to see what VIU has to offer.
Hi all, I just wanted to share an important story. A story of caution so this happens to no one else. My friend was in the VIU humanities building when they suddenly needed to use the restroom. They made their way to said restroom and waited painfully until a stall was made available to them. However, when they entered the stall they were greeted (gassed, as they say) with the most foul odour alive. They (I quote,) “[l]iterally gagged taking a piss because of it.” To make matters worse, their professor was next in line and they had to explain that the foul aroma was not from them. This was understandably very traumatizing for them and they consider it to be a hate crime of sorts. Beware and stay safe out there.
It’s my first year and I submitted an assignment late by a couple days, am I good or will the teacher won’t grade it? Anyone know if it depends on teacher or in general? Thank you
