Christmas decorations

Does anyone have a list of the houses and streets with the best Christmas decorations like how people put together for Halloween? Would love to roam around and see!

OBGYN

Looking for recommendations for an obgyn.

I recently went to V Care on 75th and didn’t like how big the office, I personally found it overwhelming and had an uncomfortable experience there.

Looking for a smaller office, I’ve had good experiences at upper east side obgyn on 77th but the doctor I was seeing left the practice and her partner isn’t taking new patients.

TIA

Rental building that is fairly quiet (i.e., well constructed)

Maybe I'm just dreaming, but I can ask and hope. Has anyone lived in a rental building (preferably w/a doorman, and that permits dogs) that is well constructed? That is it was built w/concrete dividing floors and the walls are solid enough that you don't hear your neighbor's conversations. I'm in a co-op that was built in 1960, and there is no insulation in the walls or floors, and the floors have nothing like concrete separating them. According to the sound engineer who analyzed the floors, the building would not be up to current building codes. My upstairs neighbor is a nightmare--blasting house music and his video game, slamming doors and cabinets whenever he throws a tantrum (he's mid-50's btw). The co-op Board is useless and never wants to hurt anyone's feelings, even if the conduct is egregious (the turnover in this building is remarkable).

I'm planning to do some light renos next year, and then sell this terrible co-op. I want to move into a rental for a year or two while I figure out whether I ever want to buy again. A more quiet, better constructed building would be amazing and immensely improve my quality of life (and restore my sanity). Anyone have any recs? Thank you!

Little white dog wearing a beanie

Has anyone else seen this dog walking around the neighborhood? He’s a small white dog and he has a variety of knit beanies. I’ve seen him several times in the East 80s and have never managed to snag a photo of him, but it’s just the cutest thing and I want to show my boyfriend what I’m raving about when I tell him about the neighborhood “hat dog.” 😂

Food pantries accepting donations?

I received an incorrect grocery order and want to donate the shelf-stable items. Reached out to two community centers that wouldn’t accept because they have to use pre-approved suppliers. Anyone know a local place to donate canned and vacuum- sealed goods?

no heat in my building

I haven’t had heat in my apartment since Friday due to the boiler breaking in our building. They are offering a stipend for a space heater, but no update on when we’ll have heat. I called 311 last night, but they haven’t come by yet. Anyone else dealing with this?

Looking for a Gym That Also Functions as a Bathhouse in UES

I'm an Equinox member and Bathhouse Flatiron goer. Maintaining memberships at both can be quite expensive and inconvenient. LIV Method is good but I don't want personal training. I wish there was a gym that combined both experiences, offering fitness facilities along with bathhouse amenities. Has anyone else felt this way? Do you have any suggestions?

Handy Man Available UES

I’m unable to sign up for TaskRabbit in this area due to capacity, but I’m available to help with a wide range of tasks—from furniture assembly to hanging items, painting, and more.

Feel free to DM me directly! I’ll offer a better rate than TaskRabbit, and we can skip the middleman!!

Do you pay for uppereastsite? Do you find it has real local news? I’ve been using Patch and East Side Feed but they’re not very good on follow up.

Plumber Recommendation?

Hi, I'm looking to get a smart toilet for my wife for Christmas (she loves that hot seat! lol).

Anyhow, I want to get it installed while she's at work, but I don't know any good plumbers on the UES (Fred Smith already said they "don't do" smart toilets).

Any ideas for a good local plumber?

Need a good jeweler for a sentimental item

Hi! My wedding is in 10 days and I’d like to wear my grandma’s locket, but the chain is broken. Does anyone know of a good jeweler who can replace the chain for me? (It’s set up in a way that I can’t just slip the locket over the chain and swap it).

UES Mutual Aid Toy Drive!

The UES Mutual Aid toy drive is happening! They give out free toys to kids in the neighborhood who wouldn’t otherwise receive them this holiday!

Here’s the Amazon wishlist: cutt.ly/ues2024

Does anyone know why Cilantro on the UES closed?!

I swear that space is cursed bc there have been multiple Mexican restaurants that have opened and closed over the past several years lol. Anyone have a clue as to why it's shut down again??

Seamstress/Tailor open late? Or any recommendations?

I need to have a dress taken in but can only go after work to get it fitted, which is 6pm or later. Most places seem to close at 6 and in the morning when they open, I already am at work or on site. I'm in Yorkville so prefer anything above 86th Street but also willing to go anywhere not far from a Q stop. Thanks! The places near me will mend or hem stuff but not do a whole fitting (like have me put the dress on and pin it... Idk never had this done before).

Large Collection of old T-Shirts, Sweatpants, etc. for sale

Hi guys. I’m abt 5’11, Male, and my clothes are mostly size Large. I have a large collection of clothes that I am looking to part way with. They are mostly T-shirts, some sweatpants, and things like that. Nothing too fancy.

I was thinking of selling all my old stuff in bulk for a cheap price, or I could do individual sales if anyone wants some cheap T shirts!

Not looking to make this expensive whatsoever. Ideally this is a win-win (you get cheap clothes, I get some $).

PM me if this is of interest! Thanks guys
