TLDR: A Tall Man, over 6 ft, maybe mid 50s, Slender, kicked my dog unprompted in the Lenox Hill area yesterday, Saturday Nov 2nd at 12pm. Please keep an eye out!
Hi there,
I figured this might be the best place to get the word out about the unfortunate incident my dog and I experienced yesterday. Yesterday, Saturday Nov 2nd at 12pm my dog and I were taking a walk in the 60s close to my apartment. On 61st between Lex and Park, I stopped and pulled over by the curb of the sidewalk for a second to look at something on my phone. I noticed one other man walking towards us, but he looked normal, put together, didn't strike me at all as your typical crazy/mentally ill individual. As he walked past us, he stopped, looked at my dog (20 lbs, poodle mix), drop kicked her like a soccer ball, and continued walking as if nothing happened. He did not say a word and did not look back even as my dog continued screaming and I started screaming after him.
There was no one else on the block aside from one man walking towards me who heard but did not see the incident and caught the Man's face (he described his face as looking very angry). I did not get a good look at the face of the man who kicked my dog, however, from what I can remember, the basic description of the man is over 6 ft, I would guess mid 50s, tall and slender, looked fairly put together, was wearing casual pants (jeans, dark colored khakis) and had a backpack on.
If you were the man who kindly stopped and asked if I was ok, thank you so much and please reach out to me!
My dog did not bark at the attacker or even so much as look in his direction. He approached us unprompted and decided to kick the living daylights out of her. In that moment, I was not sure whether calling 911 was an appropriate response (FYI Police later told me I absolutely could have called 911), and my main concern was if my dog was ok. I took her to our Vet nearby and luckily, aside from some pretty rough bruising, she seems to be ok for now.
My main intention in posting this is to make others in the neighborhood aware that this happened, as I would hate for someone else to have an incident with this man. If you or someone you know think you may have had a similar experience with this individual, please reach out to me and contact the police if you have not already. They have opened an investigation into the incident and the hope is to get this guy off the streets before he escalates to something worse.
Stay safe out there and keep a special eye on your fur babies!
Working on york ave until 8 and hoping i can get to the train via a normal route. Anyone with any info it would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance 🙏🏼
Do I need to subway to 42nd and subway back up? Are any cross town busses running?
My early voting poll-site is at the Met. Would I be able to reach it today while the marathon is happening? I live in the 90s between 1st and 2nd Ave. Is it worth trying to get there (via train, bus, or walking) or will it be too difficult?
My flight back to NYC is out of EWR and we live on York/76. What do y’all think is the best way to get home?
Anyone happen to know a place that sells fuel for camp stoves? Hoping to get one now in person in UES. Thanks :)
Currently not in town but someone in my building let me know a package of mine was ripped/contents stolen. Is this just a complete loss? I was thinking of asking the business next to the building for any camera footage but I’ve never done this, or been in this position before. Plus I’m out of town. Does anyone have recommendations how to go about this?
Hi friends! My husband and I are moving to 88th/2nd (from Orlando!) in December and looking for some groups to join! We're both actors and writers, and I also run a marketing agency for online coaches. I've checked out Meetup. com, but also wanted to check here and see what suggestions you guys might have. We're so excited to jump in and be part of this community!
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but will i be able to cross 1st ave around 5am tomorrow? I know the race starts in a completely different part of the city and not until 8am, but I have an early work day and want to make sure I’ve got my route planned out. It’s my first marathon living on this side of 1st and all the commentary about crossing is getting me paranoid lmao thanks in advance!! :)
Reposting. I thought I had gifted the last link but apparently I hadn't. They Don’t Care About the Marathon. They Just Want to Cross the Street. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/02/nyregion/new-york-city-marathon-road-closures.html?unlocked_article_code=1.W04.PgHj.KbjbqHACT-wU
I've been 'diagnosed' with IBS and have been struggling to find a doctor that will help me. I know gastroenterology is tricky but was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of a doctor they saw who they felt like after seeing them and making a treatment plan or anything that their symptoms improved.
Desperate here! lol
Is there any feasible way to drive from the UES tomorrow to white plains and back whilst the marathon is going on? Trying to make sense of the street closures to see if this is possible and could use a little insight.
I used live around first ave & 78th, and there was an open space laundromat nearby, I can bring my already washed clothes and dry them there
I didn’t find any around 83&3rd
Anyone have any good happy hour recommendations? Open to all suggestions but also looking for ones that include Saturday. Thanks!
We have an 18 month old, and currently live in the PS290 zone in UES. We have a benefit from my job that subsidizes the purchase of a co-op/condo (worth ~50k) that expires in April.
We are considering using that benefit to buy in the PS6 district.
Few questions:
Every Saturday morning I’m woken up by this sawing sound before 8am. It’s happening right now. What and where is this? Is this part of the ongoing, nonstop construction up here or is this some private evil villain not letting any of their neighbors sleep in. What the actual hell?
When leaving for work this morning around 6:30, there was a smell of burning in the air. Not like yule log, but like things burning that shouldn't be (house fire, garbage etc). Just wonderin! Hope everybody's alright!
Sounds like fireworks but I don't think it is.
Anyone here what sounds like fireworks? Or thunder? What is going on?
The guy was walking his dog who was snapping at other dogs and trying to get near them. He threatened an Asian guy that was standing outside an apartment building and seemed crazy saying he had a gun and that he shouldn’t be trying to do anything to his dog.
My dumbass stuck around thinking about calling 911 and then after I saw him calm down a bit I started to walk away while keeping him in sight. Since I kept looking at him he told me, you’re next douchebag.
Just watch out not sure what the hell his problem is but he seemed psycho. Just both him and his dog were confrontational and overly aggressive.
So every year at the marathon on 1st Ave, there's some idiot who tries to cross the road with children, often in a stroller. They do this when the race seems "slower" and when NYPD isn't looking. Just a note in case this is you: DON'T DO THIS!! I know it may look like that runner is farther than you think & you've got time, but it's not cool. When I was 7 or so, I got knocked down by a marathon runner because the woman who was watching me said we had time & ran us across. We didn't. The runner slammed into me, hurting me and costing himself the race. I don't care how far away the runner is, don't be an asshole and don't be negligent with your kids.
First year watching on the UES. Recs for a bar to hang at or where to park myself with a couple friends?
Anyone know where to get a good slice or entire pan of pumpkin pie in the UES? Thanks!
Anyone know when Tompkins square is supposed to to open in the UES?
Does anyone live by the 59th street bridge and have noticed an incredible increase in traffic noise overnight (~9p-2am) over the past few nights. Constant honking keeping everyone in my building awake.
Anyone know what’s going on / how to find out more information??
