I got into Quake Live a while ago and then I found UT. I'm kinda new to these games, but I got used to it pretty quickly since I played TF2 for 2 years and that game is fast paced along with critical decision making. I saw that UT and Quake looks kinda the same but is there any difference between each each other? I heard the player base for the UT games is still big. I want to to translate my Quake skill to unreal and my unreal skill to Quake. Would that be possible? And which UT would be the best? Excluding the campaign.
Back when UT 2004 was in it's hayday I was a member of the MPC clan. Our leader was a guy who went by the handle The X Files. He made a lot of the most popular user made maps back then. Mostly giant room maps. Are user created maps still being used? Are is mods still being used? I would love to load up and relive some of the great fun that game was?
Recently, as many GOG fans might know, GOG has started their "Preservation program" to preserve old games and make them playble in modern systems even after their developers have stopped supporting them completely. But my main question here is will it be able to bring unreal back to life? or atleast make them playble again (Especially the old ones, im not talking about UT4 here) So in your opinion UT redditors, will this program be able to bring all of old unreal back or will piracy and masterserver downloads will be our only hope for this game's somewhat survival? [Im just incredbly curious what this program can do for us unreal fans]
I'd like to make an informational post about how to access the game in modern time. There's a site that it appears not many people know about called "old unreal" where you can play unreal 1,2, and tournament most importantly. This site has no viruses as I was using it perfectly fine today and is also approved by epic games themselves so it's not illegal. It is also free. Have a great day!

For the longest time ive had this memory when i was little about playing a TDM style game, an FPS that in addition to gun play, had abilities you could use. All i remember was some japanese style map with asian architecture in addition to the player holding the starter pistol sideways.
Im wondering if it was a UT 2004 mod that i could have played?
Does anyone else remember anything like this or maybe could someone point me in the right direction to go and look at old UT mods?

Dear UT redditors, which games would you recommend if you wanted the Unreal tournament or Unreal Gold like exprience through other games. Recently there just has not been many Unreal clones (Atleast that I could find), and due to not being able to get access other UT games cuz of them being wiped out, I got really burntout playing UT99 and would like to see something fresh. Help would be much appreciated
Hi all! I host online game nights for a group of friends and one of the games i wanted to add to our library is UT2004. Ive got the 3369 Dedicated server from Archive and same version for the game. Im a little lost on how to bypass the online servers so that i have have people join from my IP address instead. Ive got all the ports forwarded and stuff, so in theory it should just be one or two steps im missing. Any advice?

- We added dozens of major quality-of-life features to Unreal Editor
- Our Windows patches now include two great DirectX 11-based renderers: Metallicafan212's ICBINDx11 and dpJudas' D3D11Drv. These renderers offer great performance, low input latency, and lots of features. However, they will only work on recent versions of Windows and require a somewhat recent GPU
- Apple users rejoice! This patch includes a brand new renderer that will talk to your machine using Apple's Metal API. You can enable this new renderer by setting the GameRenderDevice option in the [Engine.Engine] section of your game ini to Frucore.FrucoreRenderDevice. Please note that we couldn't call this renderer MetalDrv because that name is still taken by the renderer that targets S3's Metal API

*For the record, the "Widescreen FOV Scaling" Fix ultimately fixes the oversized weapon models that happen with wider monitors and higher FOV levels. I advise everyone to turn this on unless you're like... using an ancient crt monitor or something...
Hello, I'm looking for a mutator or configuration that makes the blue team attack first, instead of the red, in assault mode. I tried a command I found on this page but I don't know how to make it work.
I already tried searching the .ini files and can't find anything

Besides the well known Mutator Settings, I've just realized that each character plays differently from one another in every UT game.
I guess that explains why the AI stands out & played differently in these games
Does anyone know how I can exceed the maximum fov in ut3 (the maximum is 100), I saw that in UT99 and UT2004 you can but I tried with the command and from the settings in UT3 and you can not.
I just created my new Unreal Tournament 3 account and for some reason when I try to login nothing happens (I have the openspy patch installed)

Hey there! I have recently set up a UT99 Server for me and some friends to play on. Some people asked if the Server could run bots to train the game for a bit while we don't play in big rounds. I have tried messing with the server ini files but no luck, there are no bots spawning. I have been messing around with it for hours now and no idea.
