Oof, that's rough. Hopefully he's not out for long.
Hey all - Omaha Parliament will be hosting our annual cinnamon rolls and chili tailgate this Sunday for the playoff match. It is one of our favorite traditions every year, and while our tailgates are always open to all, we wanted to formally invite everyone here.
The tailgate runs from 11am to 2pm next to Gate 2 at Werner Park. Beverages are provided, and there will be special prizes handed out for best chili and best baked good. We're working on a very fancy trophy as well.
If you'd like to contribute and enter a chili or cinnamon roll for the tailgate, you can fill out this form, and you can RSVP here on Facebook to give us an idea of numbers. (Note - if weather is bad, we may be moving it to Pint Nine Brewing).
That being said, do you mix your cinnamon rolls and chili, or do you eat them separately?
The social media say the game is at 4, but the ticket site says 2:30. Any help?
Figure I’d get the discussion for this one started early. Quarter finals, babay!
Really didn’t care for the net covering the section I was in. Is it required to have that netting? We were fine all season without it.
The seam was particularly annoying; it came with a big post that blocked views. Anyone know if that’s going to continue to be a thing next Sunday? Might move to the berm or something if so.
Keep in mind that these are all casual statistics compiled by me in the last couple minutes.
● Holt, Bawa, and Lapsley all gained their first league starts
● Two players scored their first ever professional goals, Bronnik and Jiba
● It's two because Mark Bronnik signed his first professional contract today, as announced by Coach Casciato during his post-game comments on the team's social media
● Today's win means that we are confirmed the second best team in League 1 regular season history with 2.18 points per game. This trails only Greenville's 2020 team (2.19)
● Our 3 goals today secured us the record for most goals per game in regular season history, beating our record from last year
Pretend with me that Coach Dom calls you and asks who you want to be in the lineup for tomorrow's match vs Fuego (10/26). Whoever you say should start, gets to start unless injured. As a reminder, we have nothing to play for in the standings, just the pride of another win.
Who ya got starting Búhos?
HYPE TRAIN
Well here we go, this is likely the match where we bring home our second shield in two years and third overall. Sometime in the late second half we will know what to do. If Madison loses or draws, we’ve won no matter what happens against the Ibis. If they win we take home the shield by winning. If, somehow, Madison wins and we lose we’ll have to wait until the final week of the season to win our prize. Let’s just win and go pop some bottles
Tonight's crowd was AWESOME! At the heart of our club is the Spanish speaking fanbase, and it was great to see everyone out in droves tonight. We NEED your support! We aren't los Bùhos without you! Thank you for showing your support tonight. What can we do as fans to keep the Spanish speaking fans coming back?
Hey all,
I have 4 free tickets for todays game. They are a voucher you have to turn in at the front gate.
I'd like them to go to someone who has never been to game before. Please let me know if you are interested by shooting me a DM and we can arrange for you to pick the voucher up.
Thanks!
Down to the last three games of the regular season (check your email for playoff tickets). Lexington is, somehow, still in the hunt for a playoff spot while we’re on the hunt for our second shield and our fourth trophy in five years of existence. To lock it up the boys need to win and we need the accursed Mingos to draw/lose to the Sadwolves. Let’s tailgate hard and cheer our lads on!
It’s also Hispanic Heritage Night so there will be Norteño music on the concourse as well as a performance by the South High Dance team at half! There will also be table displays by a few organizations
What do I need to know? Haven’t got tickets yet and it’ll be just me. Thanks!
Update- my dumbass drank too much Friday night and had a monster hangover today so I didn’t go :(
I was wondering at work today, does UO have a theme night aimed towards unions? I know the Storm Chasers does at least one. Given the team name and motto, it would seem like a no-brainer.
Plus it'd be an easy way for me to convince my union to get tickets as I don't get to attend as many matches as I'd like 😜
GAMES REMAINING: So we have three matches to play, all against teams in the bottom four of the current table.
RACE FOR THE SHIELD: We've wrapped up the play-off spot, but we always have our eyes on a bigger prize.
The top 6 of the league technically still have a chance to win The 1 Shield if things really fall apart for both us and Madison, but that feels unlikely.
With Madison, it's pretty simple. We're 4 points up with three to go. If we win twice, we win The 1 Shield. If we fail to win twice, but Madison gets less than our points +4, we win The Shield. So if we get 1+0+3, and they get 3+3+1, we win The Shield. The scenario we most want is getting 9 points and Madison somehow dropping to seventh.
PLAYER AWARDS: Unlikely, but there's some hope.
Goalkeeper of the Year: Sean Lewis for Knoxville is just playing in a different stratosphere than everyone else.
Defender of the Year: We have a great unit, but I can't see any of our guys getting this award because of how we play. Playing high and pressing just doesn't help the defense shine.
Coach of the Year: If we win the games we should win over the next few weeks, Casciato deserves it. He's on pace to beat several marks he set last year-- including points per match and goals per match-- which were enough to secure him the title.
Young Player of the Year: My assumption is it's U23, which would mean Blake Malone is our only real candidate. I don't really see it with some of the struggles he's had this season. He's a solid starter, but he hasn't really popped like some of the other candidates. Jiba, Rodriguez, Holt, and Bronnik have shined at times, but they're still training for their shots.
Player of the Year: Dolabella deserves a nod on the shortlist, at least. I'm not sure if his discipline issues will count against him, but he's the best player on the best team, and that should count for something.
TEAM RECORDS: Nothing seems likely to be broken by the end of the season, unless Dolabella has a generational stretch of games to close the year.
Any word on Dos Santos? Tonight's the 2nd game in a row (that I've seen) where he's not even available on the bench.
Did he get hurt in the match vs Knoxville a couple weeks ago? I couldn't watch as i was out of town...
