What kinds of dark mysteries lurk beneath our seas? Conquer your fears and discover this beautiful world of underwater nature. The opposite of thalassophobia, submechanophobia, and TheDepthsBelow. Let’s take a dive UnderTheSea 🌊.

/r/UnderTheSea is a place for any animal that lives permanently or partially underwater, as well as any other interesting natural occurrences that happen beneath the water.

Anything nature and body-of-water related is fine, it doesn't just have to be the sea.

Be nice to others!

Bioluminescence is typically used by animals to warn or evade predators, lure or detect prey, or communicate among members of the same species. This Dana octopus-squid, which has the largest known bioluminescent organs of any animal, is likely flashing its photophores to ward off the observer.
