Pre PA undergrad

I’m about to finish my first year of undergrad at a community college and I have to transfer to a 4 year university in Wisconsin (uw) and I am on a Pre PA track. What are the best uw schools that will get me accepted and prepare me for a PA school? I’m hoping to hear from alumni’s, current PA students in WI or anyone who’s knows of someone in PA school of already a PA. Any advice or questions are welcomed!

Which is the easiest lab science.

I’m decent in math (in 143 right now). Trying to pick a lab science that will be the least amount of work. Chem 100 I am leaning towards, but also want to know about Bio 120, Geo 120 or Geo 210. Asking for experiences!

Any need to know for information for a new student?

Hey y’all, I’m transferring from NC up to Whitewater. I will be living off campus (with my girlfriend) and majoring in computer science.

Is there anything big I need to know? I don’t have SOAR until January lol but I wanted to ask here for anything that might not be included there or just any info that people seem important.

Best dorms for an incoming freshman

Hello Everyone!

I am currently completing my housing contract as an incoming freshman. I was wondering what the best dorms to live in are. I have heard that Wells is really loud and basically a 24/7 party? Is this true? I want to live in a building that isn't completely silent but one that is quiet enough. What are your recommendations?

This new meal equivalency plan is ridiculous.

This new meal equivalency plan is ridiculous. The meal swipes only fully cover Esker, Drumlin, and breakfast in the commons. Any other place on campus, they are equivalent to 7.50. So great only the places where students are known to get food poisoning. You can't even fully pay for a plain burger, fries, and soda at the Dub with that. For the freshmen this year, you could previously use meal swipes after 2p.m. to cover a full meal at other locations on campus. Furthermore, I asked for clarification on how they functioned and I was told that you can't use two meal swipes at the same location during one period. I know there is inflation but this just crazy 😂.

I’m so tired of hearing yelling outside

A group of guys were yelling right outside lmy dorm and woke me up at 1 am. I have a loud box fan on but it doesn’t drown out the noise at all

Going to be 39 fall 25 when/if I enter will it feel out of place?

Depending on my job situation it’s looking like I will go to Whitewater for my Bs in cs. I was primarily online at Madison college but had to take a math class college algebra to get on the math track for cs. I realized what feeling out of place means this week doing the in person class. A student who seemed pretty cool at first asked my age the other day out of the blue and I felt put on the spot. Yeh I’m a 38 year old dude but I don’t feel that I have to explain to people why I’m here. He didn’t ask why and said oh that’s cool man. But the feeling of being an outsider sucked momentarily. I’m not there to make friends just to save money/time on math class for uw whitewater. Any older students in here go through this? I’d be transferring in as a junior btw coming from web software aas at matc. I hope ppl can accept an older person near 40 going to school with them it’s already weird as it is for me.

Former UWWhitewater Athlete signs $80 million NFL contract extension

Quinn Meinerz went from D3 to NFL Starter...and just got paid this offseason.

But how did this under-recruited D3 underdog even make it to the league in the first place?

Here's Quinn's Full Story 👀

Bathrooms and Showers

This may be a dumb question but how do bathrooms and showers work. Is it like highschool where there are rows of stalls or something or are there any individual restrooms. And as for showers is it similar where there are a bunch of stall showers or are there like room showers or something like that. Thanks

Is a foreign language required?

Is a foreign language required at UWW? I was told since I was a general business major (not international business) I did not need to take a foreign language. Now I am being told I do. I took 4 years of foreign language already in HS. Is there really a foreign language requirement here. I absolutely hated foreign language in HS.

IntraUNV class - worth it?

I’m signed up for the IntraUNV new student seminar class next semester and am wondering if it’s worth the time? I felt the SOAR orientation was pretty comprehensive. Has anyone taken this before and have an opinion they’d like to share?

Hoping to transfer in the spring

I’m finishing up my associates degree this fall and am planning to transfer in the spring. I’ll be finishing my application today hopefully (just finishing my essay). Since I’m transferring in the spring will it be harder to get a dorm and other things like parking passes? Just a little nervous since I’ve only ever been to community college.

We have a Miss Whitewater (2024)? And.. this is supposed to be the prettiest girl?

I had no idea this pageant took place at the start of July, and boy does it real of small town isolation. I mean, my god.. have you seen the winner?! It’s kinda sad, no offense but it’s like someone elongated an ostrich that was partially melted

Seeking short student interviews about RNC law enforcement on Whitewater's campus for the Wisconsin State Journal!

Hi, all! My name is Jenna and I'm a journalist working with the Wisconsin State Journal to write a story about law enforcement living on campus dorms for the RNC in UW-Whitewater and other schools in the Greater Milwaukee Area. We're especially looking for student opinions/voices, so feel free to PM me or drop a comment if you're down for a short, 5-minute interview -- ideally done by Sunday evening at the latest! If you're also living on campus during the summer, that's even better -- feel free to reach out, or refer me to any students if possible. We're looking to see how you:

  • Feel about law enforcement living campus, whether you like it, don't like it, or don't really care
  • How you might feel living side-by-side with law enforcement if you're living on campus
  • ...etc! Thoughts about the RNC, anything!

Thank you so much!!

PC or Mac

Can anyone speak to the preferred computer for a business major, a PC or Mac or does it matter? My sister is in finance and she says a PC is better as all businesses are using Microsoft Office Suite, but I thought Macs also have programs to make Microsoft office compatible with them.

transportation? (I don’t have a car)

Incoming freshmen here. I have a skateboard and I’m cool with walking n stuff, how far apart is everything? Am I honestly okay with just walking and skating or is it worth it to bring a bike or something like that. Or like going around town or sum, is it worth it to have a bike for those situations?

parking permit

when is the best time to get a parking permit? I logged into the parking portal and it doesn’t show that parking permits are available for the 2024-25 school year. I know the parking passes are super high demand so I want to get one asap.

Are any of these CORE required classes even interesting. I have zero interest in taking any of them. So which are the easiest. CORE 110, 390, 130, 120, and 140.

For Chemistry 100 Everyday Chemistry it looks like the only class section still open is online. How do you do Chem labs on line? Has anyone taken this class on line? Is it rough?

For incoming freshman, is the PEGNRL 192 required class, what do you actually do in this class? Is it better to take on line? The first half of the semester or second half?

What is it like to be an RA

Do the students secretly despise RAs (residential advisors)? What are their responsibilities and do they receive benefits such as money or things like that? What level of college do you have to be in to be an RA? I’m considering applying as one but I’m not sure.
