Applications open tomorrow and I'm wanting to transfer from my out-of-state community college. I wasn't a great high school student because my home enviornment was toxic and it was hard to focus on school. I started in community college straight out of high school and dropped out after 1 year to work, get married and have children, my GPA ending up at 1.9.
9 years later, I returned to college fall 2023 at my current community college and have done amazing my institutuinal GPA is 3.5, cumulative is of course lower at 2.7. I'm apart of two honor societies and also apart of my schools Psychology club. I've worked really hard this last year to keep my grades up and participating in my clubs. I also have a previous professor who is the chairsman of the social science department writing my referral letter for Madison.
Does anyone think its a waste of time trying to apply to Madison given my current situation? I'm honestly nervous but trying to stay positive. I've already been accepted to UW - Milwaukee, Eau Claire, Green Bay, Carroll University, and Edgewood.
Looking for opinions and others to share their experience with being pre-business and getting admitted (or not) to the business school. My son will be applying to the business school this spring. Here are his particulars:
QUESTIONS:
What are the chances of him getting in to the business school this spring?
He may be able to shadow a close family friend who is an HR executive at a Fortune 500 company near us over winter break. Can he put that on his resume, and how long does the shadow need to be in order to be considered "resume worthy"
Should he wait until Sophomore year to apply where the spring semester GPA is factored in, or is that negated by the lower % of students accepted?
If he doesn't get in, what other undergrad degrees would help him get his foot in the door at a company? He doesn't really know what he wants to do ... definitely not accounting or finance. Possibly marketing, HR, public relations. We were thinking Economics or Consumer Behavior and Marketplace Studies. Anything else?
He has been proactive in going to business school meetings, and meeting with a business school advisor. I am seeking additional info.
Thank you!
Hi everyone! I’m trying to find a 1 bedroom in places like Oliv, The James, and especially Verve for fall 2025- spring 2026. Everything seems to be unavailable/waitlisted. I thought there would be a lot more available but have I waited too long? I couldn’t sign anything until I got my decision, but now I’m super stressed. Please give me some insight!!
My partner and I travelled to the game today really excited since I’m a gopher alumni-ish (transferred after a year lol) and we’re WI natives. Our section was just miserable…one guy shoved a food service worker when we were all packed like sardines at the concessions, ladies behind us kept telling us to sit down and tugging our shoulders…I get it, we’re all cold as balls, we’re losing, it sucks…but man the energy stunk. And it seemed like folks were cheering on MN plays louder than ours. Anyone else or did we just end up in an incredible crummy section?
I’m a spring transfer trying to weigh out my options for housing and from what i’ve seen Chapter Madison is one of the only apartments within a reasonable budget that has openings for the spring semester. I toured it last week and it seemed like a good place but then I saw a post on here from a few months ago saying how horrible it is living there, has anything changed? Should I not even consider it? Are there any apartments recommendations? Any input would be appreciated!!
my class selection date was the 25th. i’m at 11 credits and need math 222 for progression, no other classes fit. i’m on a waitlist rn and idk what to do. am i cooked or will i get the class??
pls help
I’ve been accepted to the entomology program as a 2nd BS student. I am curious if any other redditor/current student has any information about the rotating class offerings schedule. As a 2nd degree seeking student I only need the major credits (14 in this case) and am trying to figure out how fast I might be able to knock those credits out (for example if I can take it all in one semester or two or if it’s really like one class for four/five semesters). I will be contacting my advisor after the holiday weekend since I submitted my intent to enroll but I wanted to see if anyone might have more information since I am stuck in information limbo for a bit.
Hi I recently transferred in thinking I could get into the business school but wasn’t aware how competitive it was so mid through semester I decided to try to go into economics as my major as it’s the only possible major I could get within my graduation date. I was convinced I could still take finance related classes as a Econ major from browsing through major requirements and was very sure finance 300 did not need a business or business certificate to enroll but just the requirements. Now that I’m only limited to about half of all the Econ classes I’m pretty damn disappointed with the crazy amount of tuition and cost of living, I can’t even take courses from my major. And I can’t declare in business certificate because I missed it and also it’s not guaranteed that I would have gotten it as it’s also competitive to get in.
I’m thinking about if Econ degree at Madison is still worth it or if i should transfer back to Milwaukee.
Coming into CS 252, I've heard from friends that its an "easy A". But I've found myself struggling more in this class than any of my other classes. Does anyone have any resources that can help me get by in this class? I have Jim Skrentny, who refuses to post his lecture videos, which makes it very hard to go back and review the concepts, especially since he often doesn't complete his notes outlines in class completely. While I aced the first exam and did ok on the second one, I feel that the concepts have gotten harder and it is much harder to self-study the class, leading to me flunking the third midterm in the class. I am currently writing this on the border of a C and a D in this class, hoping for any insight on any last-minute resources that I can study to get up to speed, to hopefully bring up my grade in this class to a B at least. Please share any advice and/or resources which worked for you in this class, I would be very grateful
I am a sophomore Biology major who has an average GPA of 2.9 after my freshman year. This was because of severe mental health struggles. This semester I am doing much better, but I am terrified of never being able to get my GPA high enough for a physician's assistant masters program or even a potential PhD in my future. I participate in undergraduate research now, and am working to shadow and gain patient care hours. Does anyone have advice?
Incredible 2 bed/1 bath, newly renovated apartment available immediately!

So I traded in my old iPad Air for a new Pro, and my old folio case doesn't fit it anymore, so I'm looking to sell it. Its the official Apple Slim Folio Case (Marine Blue). Its compatible with the iPad Air 4th gen, 5th gen and 6th gen (the most recent one). Its in basically brand new condition, I bought it like 6 months ago. Bought it for 80 bucks, but I'm open to offers.
I need some help with ideas on where to sell it because its just gathering dust, and I'd rather try make some cash back on it. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!!
I am an intl student studying for my senior year (high school) with in the US

How do i get this scholarship
It’s crazy how expensive some things are within Madison, comparatively to the rest of the country I think that the cost of living here is heavily inflated. Housing is insane and it seems like the only new apartments being built our luxury ones that get rented out for more than $1K a month. Even groceries are like insane here, besides inflation it seems to me that a lot of the local chains are charging really high markups on prices. Additionally it’s like really weird that we barely have enough dorm housing for freshmen. I’ve met people who like have to live on the other side of the capital as freshmen because they can’t afford anything else. If this trend of cost of living continues to get worse in the future I can’t fathom how future students could even live here.
My friends from Minnesota want to watch the Friday game in Camp Randall but are having trouble finding tickets together. I was wondering if they could use student tickets as they are cheap and are general admission so they could all sit together? If this is possible how do you do it?
Does anyone know of any local photographers who take graduation photos? I’m graduating this winter and have had a hard time looking online since I’m not from the area.
Hello!
There is a place in Brooks St. I am looking to get roommates for this upcoming year. It is a 5 room, 1 bath and affordable at only just $860. It's near the buisness building, meaning it is a good location for those looking to walk or take public transportation. It is just a short walk from the Nicholas Rec Center too.
Reach out if you're interested and I can provide more information like the floor plan and some pictures.
Hey I’m an incoming spring transfer and I was wondering what degree(s) would be the equivalent of an information technologies degree? Or at the very least allow me to land an IT job. Either way, any help would be appreciated.
Incoming spring transfer, I was offered a housing contract and having a hard time deciding between that or just finding a sublet, anyone have strong opinions or insight on what dorming as a sophomore transfer would be like? Would you be with other transfer students? Or mostly freshman.
how is this class, is attendance required, how's the work load, is it basic?
As an international student, most of my international friends are planning to return to their home countries. However, I’m not planning to go back. Instead, I hope to spend my winter break at the school library, focusing on self-improvement, particularly in coding. As a female student, I’m hoping to connect with other female students who are also interested in spending the break productively! PM me if you are interested😇
