I've been a student at UVU for a year and I'm starting my second year this spring. Up until now, I've only taken online classes. I haven't stepped foot on campus, and I have two in-person classes next semester. I am terrified! I'm a 24 year old woman who only leaves her house to go to work and the anxiety is setting in. Do I bring my laptop to my classes everyday? Where can I study if I'm early to class? How do you get past awkwardness and make friends? Is the campus hard to navigate if you don't have anyone to show you? Any advice for first time in-person classes is much appreciated.
I’m planning a trip over the last weekend/week of April, and I’m afraid that I can’t do it because that will be the start of finals week. Nearly every final I’ve ever had has been online, which wouldn’t be a problem. However, during my first semester (Fall of 2022) I had two final exams that required me to be on campus to take them. Have any of you had classes in recent semesters that required you to be on campus to take the final exam?
Well honestly I don't know what to do. I went on a date with the girls in UVU campus as many times as I can, but I can't find anyone who is attracted to me romantically as boyfriend.
Genuine question, I'm really trying to put myself out there and it's been a little difficult with my dating life being honest. Long story short, I am a freshman at UVU, majoring in ASL interpreting, and a very spiritual light witch. We can all see the difficulties here with dating--due to many attempts and it ending up as an attempt for someone trying to convert me. I graduated high school a year early, and I will be turning 18 in less than a couple weeks. I would just really like to have a genuine connection with someone who is also an authentic person and doesn't want to convert me lol, any advice for dating as a girl at uvu and finding people like this? Lowkey just looking for a Gomez to my Morticia hahah Anyways have a fabulous day!
Hi my name is Richard I am Looking for a private bed bath room and roommates looking to move in August 2025. If you have any availability please let me know Thank you
I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this but there isn't a subreddit for vasa! Does anyone go to the uni vasa around 5pm - 8pm?
Signing up for classes for this spring. Will be my second semester.
I am trying to figure out my schedule for this upcoming spring, but the classes I'm signing up for have no weekly schedules or times describing when they are. I am doing pretty much everything online, and none of the online courses that I am looking at have any times on them.
Any ideas on why this may be? Have they just not posted yet? Would suck to miss a class on a scheduling conflict and then not be able to find a replacement due to others being full.
I know some of the people this James Seo guy films with personally and let me just say these dudes are not good people. He doesn't attend UVU, one of the people he films with regularly is actually a u of u alum which idk to me makes it so weird that they spend so much time on campus. James seems like an ok dude, I don't know him very well but the people he surrounds himself with are fuck boys and clout chasers. I mean the dude made a video with Mr.Beast, collabed with David Dobrik's roommate, posted branded content for his brand Xeela inside David Dobrik's house, and shouts out Drake in his Bio. He's a wee bit problematic imo.
I think my real issue with that group is the blatant disrespect they have for the people who pay to be there and are trying to study. For example, he posted a video of people opening packages talking at almost full volume as he repeatedly shushed them and talked over them in the middle of the packed designated quiet floor of the library. He seems to feel entitled to behave disruptively when he comes onto campus and sees it and everyone on it as his props.
I needed more credits so I took the only non culinary major-related cooking class. Does anyone know Robert Wilson? He's not on RMP but based on his page on the UVU website he has a lot of awards. Just want to make sure I'm not signing up for a Gordon Ramsey Situation because I would definitely cry.
I am a computer science student. and to completely honest, I'm not that great of a student. I've been here for almost 2 years, and almost have my associates. but these requirements have been so stressful that I don't know what I would do if I failed a class more than twice.
I just wish it didn't have to be so stressful...
anyway, does anyone have experience with this? at the end of almost any semester I'm always stressing about not being able to get my degree because I failed a class twice...
Hi everyone! Can you take this survey for my Sociology 3030 class! It is about commuting around campus! Thanks :)
Hey group! wanting to give back during the holiday season! UVU was awesome to my family! If you, or anyone you know is struggling, dont hesitate to reach out! I offer tele sessions ( I am now located in St. George)
I'm a sophomore who has yet to make any friends at UVU. I used to spend my time here at UVU with my ex-girlfriend, but she broke up with me, and life, especially at school, has felt incredibly lonely since then. I just don't know how to make friends. I'm a good-looking guy with a lot of hobbies, but I'm very shy and have OCD, which causes me to be paranoid that anyone, especially women, will think I'm creepy or weird if I try to speak to them. I've gone to a couple of campus events this year, and both men and women have walked up and started talking to me and even complimenting me, but I'm bad at holding conversations with new people. It also doesn't help that I'm not LDS, which adds to the sense of isolation I feel at school. I need advice to get out of this social rut
Hi everyone, I received an email saying I was nominated to join the National Society of Leadership and Success Honor Society, I was reading through the invitation and it requires a $95 registration fee. Has anyone been part of this? Is it worth it to join? The deadline to accept is today so I don't really know if i'm missing an opportunity by not joining.
I’m going through a challenging time after my recent breakup, and it’s been emotionally overwhelming. I wish the pain would just disappear instantly, but I know that healing takes time. I don’t want these feelings to affect my child, and I’m determined to move forward in a way that protects both of us. I try to be positive even on a negative situation. Don't get me wrong I don't promote false positivity. Crying helps me a lot. I cry, feel the pain, getting through it. But I don't forget to stand back up and do my responsibilities it takes a lot.
To help manage the stress, I’d love ideas for activities or places to go, whether solo or even group activities, that would help me process these feelings in a healthy way. With everything on my plate and once I let my relationship affects my— full-time working in health care, full time nursing school, single parenting, and recent financial adjustments it will be hard to get back up and it’s important to find constructive ways to work through this.
With my birthday coming up on November 24, I’d love to take a break for a few days without my phone and disconnect from everything. However, I’m not sure how to make that happen while balancing my responsibilities as a parent.
If you have any suggestions for how I can positively channel these emotions, focus on self-care, and celebrate my birthday meaningfully, I’d greatly appreciate it. I’m turning 27 years old|Female (she/they)
Hey all,
I’m an incoming transfer for fall 2025 from a CC in California. i will be majoring in the professional pilot degree and was wondering where the best place to find roommates is. I’d prefer to live in a house vs an apartment and rent doesn’t look like it would be too bad if it was split. Any suggestions?
Is attendance mandatory? Does it require a lot of group projects and/or presentations? If attendance is not mandatory and I'm able to submit everything online, I'd rather not go to class tbh. The class is face to face that's why am asking.
Ty
Hi everyone,
I’m looking to gather stories and experiences from students who have been falsely accused of cheating at UVU. If you’ve faced accusations that you believe were unfounded, I’d love to hear about how it was handled, what the process was like, and what the outcome ended up being.
This is purely to understand how these situations are managed at UVU and the impact they’ve had on students. If you’re comfortable, feel free to share your story in the comments, or you can DM me if you prefer to stay anonymous.
Thanks for sharing and helping shed light on this issue!
So, I'm getting ready to turn in my mini literature review. At the end of the writing process, I typically upload my paper to a plagiarism website to double-check that I didn't unintentionally commit paraphrasing plagiarism. I know that UVU uses CopyLeaks, so I thought I'd use that program specifically. My paper came back with a low plagiarism percentage, but I was shocked to see that it flagged my work for 27% AI-generated content based on the usage of certain phrases. So I uploaded my paper to other AI detection websites (Grammarly and Turnitin) and they both gave entirely different scores (4% and 10%). Has anyone else had AI detection software incorrectly flag their work?
Hey just curious if there are any pianos available for people to practice on? if yes, where are they located and how can I ‘reserve’ practice time?
Hey guys, I’m currently deciding whether I want to transfer to UVU or not. I am going to Utah State currently, but one of my really good friends lives in Provo. I’m not use to living in such a highly populated area, such as Orem/provo. I also may take a gap semester.
Would you reccommend UVU? Is there a lot to do? Activities?
I just got accepted to uvu and I'm so so excited! does anyone have advice about the best housing? currently I'm looking at the green because I don't have a car/driver's license but any advice is greatly appreciated!
Does anyone have experience/know if there are any special hoops to jump through if I want to do my last semester online from another country? I’m planning to move to Europe, but I still have one semester after this one until I am able to graduate.
One of the classes I need to complete is in-person only, but I was wondering if anyone knows if the university would let me take it remotely.
TIA
I’m a clinical mental health counseling student and we have to do a practice session with someone we don’t know.
Anyone want a free therapy session from a grad student?
I’m not the only one needing a “client” so more than one person can help out! It would take place anytime before Dec 5th on campus (in a private area). Please note I am required to record the session but only my professor will see it.
