Any primers for building a up to 1 hr doctrine primer for E5/E6?

Looking at adding to a top off course that my base does and I thought doctrine may be something good to add. Wanting to develop something targeted to the E5/E6 tier.

Do you have any recommendations or would reworking some of the stuff from CWPC suffice in your opinion?

Why was Volume 3 Rescinded and what is up with Volume 2 as well?

Regarding Volume 3 specifically, the LeMay Center commander (after discussions with the CSAF) elected to rescind Volume 3 in an effort to reduce duplicative doctrine. Volume 3 was not a stand-alone doctrine publication. It was a compilation of doctrine (primarily sections of Annex 3-30 and Annex 3-0). No doctrine was lost in the rescission of Volume 3. All of the topics are still available on our site https://www.doctrine.af.mil

Volume2 is a convoluted story. It came into existence back with General Ryan as CSAF. It wasn't doctrine per se, but a location was needed to put various aspects of the Airman into a single location. Since that time, Air Force Handbook 1 (AFH-1); AFI 1-1, Air Force Standards; and the Foundational Competencies List at PACE have come into existence. So it has been deemed that this particular Volume is no longer needed.

Volume 1 is currently being reviewed and we hope to have it published in the very near future!

Why is Doctrine Relevant to Junior Service Members?

Doctrine is relevant to all Airmen in at least two fundamental ways.

First, doctrine describes and sets the Service culture and focus.

What we are – Airmen.
What we bring to the fight – ability to wage war in, from and through the air, space and cyber domains.
How are we unique/different from other Services – our focus and expertise is exploitation of the air domain in direct furtherance of the joint force commander’s objectives. Other Services use air as a means of achieving their component objectives which is an indirect use of air in furtherance of the JFC’s objectives. For instance, a surface commander may see the best use of air to destroy or degrade enemy surface forces so that land forces can seize the enemy’s headquarters and leadership. In contrast, an airman would tend to bypass the enemy surface forces and attack the enemy headquarters directly from the air. Either way may achieve the JFC’s objectives, but the airman may be able to accomplish it with less loss of forces.

Second, doctrine describes who as authority over you and responsibility for you as an Airman.

Who has the authority to task you?
Who is the Commander of Air Force Forces and what is their place amongst the Joint Operations Staff?
Who can give you orders which you are required to obey?
Who can send you into harm’s way?
Who is responsible for ensuring that you are properly prepared to go into harm’s way?
Who is responsible for the consequences of that action?

Ultimately, the young Airmen of today will be the ones charged with the responsibilities listed above. The sooner they are exposed to Air Force and Joint doctrine, the better prepared they will be to assume those responsibilities.

Annex 3-01, Counterair Operations, was approved on 6 Sep 19

https://www.doctrine.af.mil/Doctrine-Annexes/Annex-3-01-Counterair-Ops/

Our Service operational doctrine remains the best place to find the historically proven best practices of the Air Force, and this Counterair Operations annex reflects the most up-to-date information on current operations. Counterair Operations are critical to the success of the joint force, so the Air Force’s best practices to support these operations is of paramount importance. I encourage you to read it and share it with your personnel; it’s a good read!

How do you read doctrine?

How do you read doctrine? Do you prefer a traditional "Front to Back" type of document or do you like a "Wiki" Type Format with clickable links to read various Doctrine Topic Modules? Is there some other type of format you would prefer or like to see? Would love to hear your thoughts and ideas!
