Home to the students, alumni, professors, staff, and fans of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It's a #GDTBATH 🐏
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the first public university founded in the United States of America. Since opening its doors in 1789, UNC has grown to become a gorgeous southern campus sprawling over 729 acres.
With over seventy different majors and minors, UNC has consistently been ranked in the top five public universities in the United States.
UNC's Men's Basketball team has won six national championships since 1957 and is especially renowned for being Michael Jordan's alma mater. Most importantly, UNC is a far, far better institution of higher education than its unfortunate neighbor, Dook.

As a 30-something research staff and alum, I'm having a hard time finding folks who have interest in using the makerspace with me on a regular basis. It's not sustainable depending on the BeAM staff to babysit me in the wood shop... it's a waste of their time, and they have students who need real assistance as opposed to me who is comfortable with all the tools.
Is anyone looking for someone to meet up with and do projects? We don't have to be friends, but sometimes it's nice to have an extra set of hands and brains in there anyway.
Drop a comment if interested!
Ive been trying to print out my notes for an open note test I have today but it keeps saying failed. is this something with my account or are the printers having issues? and does anyone know where I can print things out without having to use a CCI printer?
So in my UNC application portal, it says "You are currently classified as a non-resident. If you would like to apply for reconsideration or appeal of your NC Residency determination, please visit the NC Residency Reconsideration or Appeal form." but I am a resident of NC. I already put in my Residency Certification Number (RCN) when I initially submitted the app but it thinks im not a resident right now? So, I clicked on the reconsideration of appeal form and just typed in my RCN again. Is this all I have to do? and wait until it updates my status to a resident of nc?
Hi! I’m looking for a room swap (female). Currently I’m living on Everett 3rd floor, and my roommate is very kind and we get along well. I only need to leave the place because of sleep problems; I’m a very light sleeper so I’m hoping to find a new roommate that is a quiet sleeper.
Please dm me if you’re interested!
This feels like a long shot but all the campus health and CAPS are just redirecting me to other places and it’s taking too long, so I really don’t know what else to do :(
It's not too late to register to vote here, but the early voting period is the last chance to register to vote in Orange County if you've lived here for at least 30 days! Cannot be done after 3pm on Saturday. Here are some specifics that will hopefully help you if you're not sure where to start:
The closest early voting site to campus is Chapel of the Cross on East Franklin, across the lot from the Planetarium. 304 E. Franklin St -- all early voting sites in Chapel Hill/Orange County are open Friday from 8am to 7:30pm and Saturday from 8am to 3pm.
Bring proof of residence with you -- if you live on campus, UNC has already provided the county with your address, so your physical (not mobile) OneCard is proof enough! Otherwise, a utility bill, bank statement, or anything else listed here will work as proof of residence. Also bring an ID -- a physical OneCard will also work for this! If you don't have a physical UNC OneCard, these will also work.
You can just show up at an early voting site (again, before Saturday at 3pm) and tell the election worker at the check-in station that you'd like to same-day register and vote. You'll be guided to the help desk, and an election official will guide you through the process. After you're registered, you can immediately turn around and vote!
Consider going tomorrow; if something goes wrong, you can go back on Saturday before 3pm and fix it!
Hope this helps -- Happy Halloween!
Hey all. I have been abroad this semester and have a question regarding work-study. If a professor listed a research position in July and it is still there, does that mean the position is still open or is it more likely that they just forgot to take it down? Thanks!
Any Pokémon Go player on campus? Trying to get someone to walk and do raids together.
what should I do now
I couldn't get into chem 101 😭
I missed out on registering for the survivor screening Saturday, could anyone tell me who goes home Saturday and what guests they have?? I’m a super fan and cannot wait a whole week to know. Ty from a broken hearted UNC student
I have rosansky and he has not prepared us at all for midterm 2, does anyone have notes, studyguides, or practice problems from other professors or recitations that they can send me to study?
Hello, I am planning to apply for the doctoral program at Kenan-Flagler. I came across afew resources that say the base pay is about $20K. Is it true? Considering the taxes, living expenses, and accomodation, is this even sufficient? I also read that the rentals are pretty expensive there. Can someone please let clarify?
I'm a junior bio major signed up for advanced molecular bio (BIOL 631) along with BIOL 445 (cancer bio) next semester. I couldn't find a syllabus online and it's a grad-level course, so I'm not sure of the workload. To anyone who's taken this class, how was the workload?
Vote early even! Every vote counts and especially in a state like NC.
Recognizing there are a limited number of out of staters at UNC…but you can and should still vote in NC. It is your right and your civic duty to vote. So make it count!
Curious what the ranges in price/month are for folks who live off campus but within walking/biking distance to Franklin? My daughter is wanting to rent a 4BR with some friends at Union Chapel Hill complex on Hillsborough Street for next year. Her room quote rate is $1300/month for 12 months.
I'd feel better about the price if I knew that sub-letting the 2 wasted summer months was likely, but I'm guessing there is a glut of sub-let inventory over the summer and that she'd be lucky to get half the rent back if she found someone to sub-let for June & July.
What's everyone paying in rent who lives reasonably close to Franklin Street?
Currently a sophomore transfer student and recently switched to the Stats major... does this schedule seem feasible for someone who has never really done much with math/stats other than a few chemistry classes? It's about 17 credits, and I'm worried it might be too math heavy... thoughts?
COMP 110 or 116
MATH 232
STOR 155
SOCI 101
ECON 101
Junior year Enviromental Science Student rn. Ive kinda taken all of my courses out of order because I transfered in as a sophmore.
Chem 403 sounds incredibly interesting, but it requires orgo as a co requisite, which happens to also be an optional course for my major.
I pretty much need to take a math course every semester if I want to graduate by 2026, so I cant change that.
Its gonna be a long Tues and Thurs, but essentially a 4 day weekend is going to be amazing.
Im at 13 credits right now, but I probably wont add another class.
Does this look manageable?
I currently have an A in Econ 410; however, it doesn't feel like I fully understand everything. Does Econ 420 build off of 410 in any way? Or is everything totally new?
I transferred into UNC this semester as a sophomore in the BME program and still have a majority of my focus capacities to complete. Do you guys have any recommendations of classes that you’ve taken in the past that aren’t much work outside of the lectures? I’m fine with mandatory attendance and showing up to class but I’d prefer to not have much work outside of that. I still need to complete the Aesthetic, Values, Global, and Power capacities. Thanks
Has anyone here done the online MAC program? Online would save me more $$$ since I have classes from undergrad that I would place out of. Just curious if it’s a bad experience doing it online. Everything I can find on their website makes it look like a robust online program with a good balance of asynchronous and live zoom classes. The idea of living in chapel hill for a year and going back to school in person after working for a couple of years isn’t super appealing, not sure how I’d fit in with people fresh out of undergrad. Admissions counselor told me that in-person has around 70% of students coming straight from undergrad at UNC so not as diverse as I was hoping for.
I need 1 more quantitative reasoning class that's not used for my psych major (I've already taken stats and I took math 231 in high school dual enrollment) but I hate and am terrible at math. does anyone know any classes that can fill the requirement that I won't fail lmao
4 bed, 2 bed apartment spring '25 sublease! Must be okay living with a (really cute) cat!
Howell St, Chapel Hill, NC, 27514
Rent is $800/month + utilities. Merritt's Grill area - it's a 20 minute walk from the hospital, and a 5 minute walk to the closest bus stop. The bus in to campus is about 5 minutes and super easy! Free parking + bike rack and an outdoor shed.
The room + apartment is fully furnished, I will take down decor/personal items so you can make the room how you would like! Apartment has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, air fryer, microwave, oven, and Roku.
The space is incredibly peaceful. We have huge windows that let in a lot of light and have a great view of the forest. Private front porch with a couch and chair to watch the birds. The brick floors are beautiful, and you can often find Clementine stretched out on them.
Would be living with three other 3rd year girls. They are lovely, very clean, and sweet people.
Please reach out with any questions! :)
Does this seem like a manageable schedule? I’m a Psychology & Neuroscience major. Any tips for some of these classes?
Has anyone taken BIOL 445 with Dr. Shemer or BIOL 546 with Dr. Ahmed? I'm considering both courses and would love to hear any insights. How are the workload, difficulty, and overall experience in each?
Can I sign up for a spring course that has a prereq which I am currently taking in the fall? I tried today and I wasn't able to register, but what about once grades finalize in January? Can I not sign up for it then because I'd have completed the prerequisite?
Edit: Hey guys, I went to drop in session with an advisor and basically I CAN sign up in the Spring with a prereq in the fall. The first lady I asked just straight up lied to me for no reason. Thank you all for the answers!
UNC wasn't on my radar until recently when my talking with my counselor and some friends a few days ago. I am out of state for computer science how much were my chances hurt by not applying ea? I heard a lot of spots fill due to ea.
