Drinks of any sort are very much welcome here as well. Share with us your shittest cocktails or that fancy beer on draught that we've never seen before.
We also welcome advice on how to save money when buying and getting the most out of your ingredients. Know of any knock-off brands that are just as good, if not better, than the original? Post it here!

Hi all! I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I figured it's a start. My daughter and I have small hands, like size 6 in gloves. I use mitten-shaped silicone oven gloves, but she's preparing to move out to Uni, and needs something of her own (not sealing mine!). She'd like fingered oven gloves, that actually fit. I have googled, and searched, but every fingered heat-proof glove I can find proudly proclaims 'one-size fits all', except it'll leave her with a couple of inches of empty fingers, when she wears them!
Anyone got any recommendations? Thank you in advance :)
I went shopping too late on a Sunday and all that was left are the cheaper bags of 'British White Potatoes'. What sort of potatoes are likely to be in there? Are they likely to be floury or waxy?
Made in a frying pan that had a removable handle!
Cream crackers in the fridge. Whatever next?
No frills pork sausages, mixed mash (swede and spuds), broccoli and onion gravy. A laxy Sunday dinner.
I hear a lot of people lamenting the decline in Cadbury’s quality over the last decade. Does anyone have any chocolate brands that are 1) tasty 2) ethically sourced 3) common enough to be found in London without having to order online or anything? Specifically looking for an alternative to Dairy Milk. Thanks!
Can anyone send me some good soup recipes for my Girlfriend as I can’t imagine I’ll be eating solids in next few days. I prefer the thicker hearty types over watery soups. Thanks
Ate a full big bag of these this week. In about 6 minutes. Probably my favourite cheesy puffs now. Any others in the top spots?
I keep seeing low cal pizzas etc on tiktok from the USA using lavash flat bread. Is there anything similar in the UK? I've seen 'kebab' wraps in lidl but they are higher in calorie than normal flat bread not better.
I couldn’t find anything online and wasn’t sure where else to ask!
This is my favourite sloe gin, I normally only have it around Christmas. There was a deal on this size bottle at my local supermarket today, whereas I normally get the smaller bottle. This one tastes and smells a lot more of alcohol than I previously remember, and it also seems a lot thinner. It used to taste and smell more of the ‘sloe’ than the ‘gin’, and I used to enjoy sipping a small glass, but this time I could only take a few sips before it was overwhelmingly strong.
Maybe my taste buds have just changed, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had noticed anything, or if anyone has recommendations for other sloe gins!
I find this question harder than I might initially expect. First, because lots of foods are available here now, and second, because many that aren't (cheeses, for example) don't all keep that long.
I'm curious: what do others tend to bring back these days, either because it's cheaper or not available here? Jars of pate and casserole from local butchers in France seem good bets. I like saucisson though the last one we bought wasn't eaten fast enough. Maybe I should look at small, whole cheeses that can be cut after a month or so.
Welcome ideas!
Waitrose Baileys Fudge Recipe - does anyone still have it?!
I used to have a Waitrose recipe card (the ones you pick up for free on the way in/out of Waitrose) for making Baileys fudge. I think it was called Irish Cream Fudge to avoid copyright though. I made it every Xmas from this card for about 4-5 years. We moved house and my beloved card is gone! I’ve searched every iteration on the Waitrose website. I have scrolled through their entire Christmas catalog of recipes and it’s gone. I think they’ve replaced it with Eggnog Fudge as I swear it used to be part of the collection for baking gifts.
I have looked at multiple different recipes online but none are quite right. Most have chocolate it which isn’t part of the Waitrose one.
I don’t suppose anyone else thought to squirrel away this recipe & is happy to share?
